Previously, Michael understood that this earpiece could allow him to be able to communicate with other intelligent beings. Of course, mostly, it was just about transmitting what he was thinking about to them.

As for the response, he was not sure how he was going to get it, but now, he understood why this device was an earpiece, and nothing else.

So, it turned out that the voice would be generated by the earpiece, obviously not belonging to the cat, instead, synthesized according to the cat or the intelligent being that Michael would be conversing with.

’Forget it, I was just kidding.’ Michael transmitted his thoughts after a moment of surprise.

"Hmph! Don’t disturb me again!" The voice came through the earpiece once again, expressing the thoughts of the cat.

Unexpectedly, this black cat had quite some temper. Understanding that it had been played, it no longer wanted to communicate with Michael.

Instead, it lay back down, completely ignoring Michael, who transmitted other thoughts, such as asking if it wanted to leave the cage where it was put in.

From the looks of it, the cat could no longer trust Michael, as he had lied it twice.

Anyway, Michael was not much disappointed. After all, the reason why he came here was simply because he wanted to test out the earpiece.

And now, understanding that it was functional, it was good enough. It was just that, he was not clear about the maximum range that he could use the device from.

Thinking about this, he opened the car’s door, before he stepped out. Then, he began distancing himself from the car, increasing the distance between himself and the cat.

Each and every time that he moved away, increasing the distance by about 10 meters, he would try to communicate with the cat.

Most of the time, the response that Michael would receive was just a snort coming from the cat, obviously with the cat feeling irritated by Michael’s words.

By the time that Michael exceeded 100 meters away from the cat, he could no longer hear any voice from the earpiece, indicating that the thoughts that he was thinking about could not be transmitted to the cat.

But even then, the range of 100 meters was still quite good. In a situation where it needed fast acting, this would be quite crucial, and the coordination could be better.

At this thought, Michael thought about integrating this device to Vanguard Corporation. If this device could be given to the top security guards and bodyguards of the company, it could easily improve the standards of the bodyguards.

That would be able to improve the level of vanguard corporation to a whole new level. It was just that, this device, if it was given to Vanguard corporation, it would raise questions.

Additionally, it would be inevitable that the devices would be leaked to others. There was a possibility of the devices being stolen and other companies using other methods in order to acquire them.

Michael was not afraid of them acquiring the devices, it was just that, unless sky technologies was the one that produced the device, it would definitely raise so many questions, causing unnecessary troubles.

If it was before meeting Brian, Michael would not have thought much about this. In any case, he would have just thought that people would think that the level of skill of the people from Sky Technologies was extremely high.

But with the issue regarding the mutants, and the meteor that fell from outer space, it was clear that someone would start suspecting something. From the entire population of this world, it was inevitable that some people would have big imaginations.

So, it would not be too much of a surprise if someone thought that this technology came from outside this world.

That was why, he thought, with sky technologies, it would be better. After all, the progression of Sky Technologies was something being done systematically, with no big leap in between.

Even though he had asked Adrian to speed up the process, it was not as though Sky Technologies would suddenly produce something that was over a century ahead.

No matter what, they still had to do things in a systematic way, in such a way that people could see that there was progress.

Inevitably, this would still raise some questions, but at least, it would not be as troublesome to deal with as compared to introducing the earpiece technology to Vanguard Corporation.

But while this was not possible, at least this level of technology, there were quite a number of devices that could be used in order to be able to enhance the abilities of the employees of Vanguard corporation.

Thinking about this, Michael decided that once he went back, he would contact Adrian, in order to see how they could integrate technology into Vanguard corporation.

Even though Vanguard corporation was one of the biggest security companies in the world, Michael was thinking about monopolizing the entire industry.

Whatever industry he got himself involved in, he would have to monopolize it. This was the thought that he was having, even though it was not his main focus.

With the test out of the way, now, Michael could focus on something else. At the moment, with the clone taking over the job of acquiring SP for him, Michael could finally be free.

And since that was the case, he thought, it was a good idea to explore the city. Even though he had been here for quite a while now, he was not familiar with many parts of the city.

So, he decided, instead of going back to the villa, he drove around the city, with no destination in mind.

While Michael was touring around the city, trying to get himself familiar with this city, even though he was going to leave in a while, Kate on the other hand was disturbed.

After the call with Michael, she could not relax at all. Even though she had been given the break, together with the other recruits, she just felt that she could not relax.

Initially, she was so happy with the break, which could allow her to be able to communicate with those that she cared about.

And the first person that she contacted was Michael. Unexpectedly, the question that he asked was something that left her overthinking.

She was not sure about why Michael had asked about special abilities, but she understood, it was not as simple as Michael just wanting to bring up something so that they can talk.

Even though she understood that this was something that was most probably from a science fiction setting, in this world, nothing can be guaranteed to be as it looks like.

Previously, she did not even know about the existence of NEXUS. If not for Richard Theodore, the leader of NEXUS, coming to visit her with an invitation, she would never have known about it.

In fact, until this day, they had not been informed about NEXUS. They had been training for about a month now, but even then, apart from training, no information was handed to them.

If not for Michael informing her about this in advance, she would have been in the dark just like most of the other recruits.

Michael knew that it would take her quite a while to be able to leave the training camp. But even then, he asked her the question related to special abilities.

From this, Kate inferred that there was a probability that this was linked to NEXUS. And, Michael asked her to do as she was expected to here. This implied, very soon, there was something big that was going to happen.

Despite the trust that she had in Michael, she could not help but feel restless. After all, this was something that she did not understand, which made her uncomfortable.

She was someone who liked to control the situation, at least to understand it. And in a situation like this where she was completely in the dark, she could never be at peace.

Lina noticed this, and asked, "Tell me, have you had a fall out with your boyfriend? Maybe, has he already began missing you, and is asking you to go back?"

Hearing Lina’s question, Kate finally came back to her senses. But, she shook her head as she said, "No, it is not about that. It is something else."

Seeing that Kate did not have the intention to reveal what exactly she was thinking about, Lina did not insist on knowing it.

Instead, she changed the topic as she said, "I just heard, on 30th of this month, there is going to be a meeting with the instructor and this time, there is going to be another high ranking member of the secret organization joining in.

Most probably, they are going to reveal to us about what this organization is all about. We are all tired of being kept in the dark, and only focusing on physical training."

Kate raised her brows slightly when she heard that. At the same time, she felt that this timing, it was definitely related to what Michael had asked her in one way or the other.

"What about the combat assessment? Is it going to proceed as it was previously planned?" Kate asked, even though she was wondering how Lina was able to get information like this.

"Of course. Don’t tell me, you are dissatisfied with your boyfriend, and are now looking forward to meeting that Evan guy? After all, that guy said that he likes you, maybe, you are angry and want to meet him, so that when your boyfriend knows about it, he can regret it?" Lina nodded before she asked mischievously.
