Information to Mastery: Points Store System-Chapter 285: A Chance
Such ruthlessness! It was no wonder that he was a member of the Santos family. Even though he had not been in the family at all, but the blood running through his veins was still that of the Santos family.
Just like other members of the Santos family, he was very decisive. And just like that, someone had been killed within this villa.
If he had known that this was going to happen, and that he had no chance of forcing Michael to leave this country, Bob would not have dared to come over.
What was the use? Was this not the same as courting death? It would have been better to pretend that he came, then report to Newton, telling him that Michael had refused to leave.
And, nobody would have ever guessed that Michael was a mutant. And more than that, he also had a mutant by his side.
As he came to this realization, Bob realized that Michael had someone backing him. Otherwise, just an orphan from a small city that was ruled by gangsters, it would have been impossible for him to be able to accomplish all this.
He should have guessed about something like this. How was it possible that Michael was able to achieve everything that he currently had, just by depending on himself?
Realizing that he had made a big mistake, he wanted to turn back the clock, so that he could change the decision that he had made by coming over.
When he was allowed to leave previously, he should have never returned. But now, it was too late, and there was nothing that he could change.
He did not try to beg Michael to spare his life. Judging from the fact that he had decisively killed Gregory, if he really wanted to kill him, there was probably nothing that could change his mind.
And just as he was thinking about this, Michael continued, "I will give you a chance to go back. Tell Newton, I will come over in a while. Let him prepare himself in advance. Because there are many questions that he needs to answer."
Immediately after he finished speaking, the clone, that was still standing next to where Gregory’s body lay, suddenly made a move.
Before Bob could even react, one of his knees was suddenly struck, with the kneecap being completely crushed.
"Aaah!"
This sudden attack, and the sharp pain that came from the attacked knee made Bob scream in agony. The pain was overwhelming, as he collapsed on the ground, using his hands to clutch the knee that was already broken.
The probability of the leg being held was quite low. After all, with the kneecap broken, he would forever be a cripple.
Though he felt resentful, thinking about the disadvantages that would be brought about with him being a cripple, he felt relieved.
At least, he would not face the same fate as Gregory. In the end, he still survived, which was way better than being killed.
Michael completely ignored the guy that was screaming on the ground. Instead, he shifted his gaze and looked towards James.
At this moment, James, who was initially planning to sit down, was frozen in place.
From the way that Michael was acting, he thought that dealing with Gregory and Bob would take quite a while. Unexpectedly, it was just a matter of a few seconds, and everything was done?
Now, facing Michael who was looking at him, James realized that it was his turn.
At this point, he also felt regretful, from seeing what had happened to both Bob and Gregory.
When he entered, at least, he had not attacked. Perhaps Michael would have allowed him to leave, because he had not struck.
But the moment that he attacked, he aimed to kill Michael, despite knowing that the chances were low. From that, it seemed that he was going to face the same fate as Gregory?
And just as he was thinking about this, Michael said something that left him stunned.
"I’m going to give you a chance. I’m offering you the chance of working for me. So, what do you think? Are you going to continue working for the death shadow organization, or are you willing to work for me instead?" Michael asked.
For a moment, James was not sure how to respond to this. Was this true, or was Michael just trying to mess with him?
But looking at Michael, it did not seem like he was joking at all. From those eyes, it seemed that Michael was sincere?
As for Michael, he did not say anything, giving James the time to think.
This was a decision that he had just made, though, initially, he had decided to kill this guy. But now, he thought against it.
If there was a possibility of this guy working for him, then that was good. At least, Michael would be able to acquire much more information than what Onyx could.
While Onyx was a very powerful AI, it was impossible for it to be able to access all kinds of information, especially those offline.
If there was an insider inside an organization, especially one with a high position, it would be incredible. At least, the information that was not shared online or stored inside a database, Michael could get his hands on them.
While Onyx had managed to access databases all over the world, there was always the possibility that some information was being withheld.
If not for Brian’s appearance, there was going to be quite a while before Michael came to know about the presence of mutants.
Who knows, maybe there was more hidden apart from the issue regarding the mutants? Or, maybe there was the information regarding what was outside this world, yet it was not shared?
At this point, what Michael wanted the most was information. As for his own growth, with him having to wait for quite a while before taking the next mutation serum, there was nothing that he could do to improve his strength.
As for SP, that was something that was being accumulated by the clones. And from time to time, he would join in in order to be able to push another skill.
James was silent for quite a while, as he weighed the options presented to him.
In actual sense, he was a proud person. That was the first thing. And secondly, he was quite loyal.
If not for the opportunity that was offered to him by the death shadow organization, he might not have been able to reach where he currently was.
Until now, he might have continued being a gangster, leading a small gang. But with the opportunity presented by the death shadow organization, he was able to become a mutant.
But now, it was obvious. He was presented with only one choice, or there was only one part that he could take.
The only option here was for him to accept working for Michael. As for refusing, would that not lead to him being killed immediately?
He had already seen the fate that Gregory faced. He was not willing to go through the same.
And at this moment, he thought, as long as he agreed, he would be able to get out of here. As for if he really would work for Michael after he left this place, that would be up to him to decide.
While he was tempted to work for Michael, he still had his own reservations. At least, he was not sure, between the death shadow organization and Michael, who was stronger.
As he made the decision, he nodded and said, "Okay, I’m willing to work for you. Whatever you tell me to do, I will immediately comply."
Unfortunately for James, while he might have only thought about what he was going to do next in his mind, he never expected that Michael would be able to see through his intentions.
This was the prowess of the expert level human insight skill. With this skill, through the facial expressions, they look in the eyes and so on, Michael would be able to make judgment of what the person might be thinking of.
Of course, this did not imply that the expert level human insight skill was flawless. After all, it could not allow Michael to be able to read someone’s mind.
But even then, it was usually at least 96% accurate, and even if it was not accurate, it would still be in line with what the other person was thinking.
So, he realized that this guy was thinking about getting out of here, and then disappearing. As for the consequences of doing that, did this guy even care?
Still, after James responded, Michael did not expose him. Instead, he understood that he had to deal with the problem of betrayal first.
This guy was only agreeing right now. But if he left, he would definitely not listen to anything that Michael told him.
Additionally, even if he agreed and sincerely began working for Michael, Michael would obviously not trust him. Since he was able to betray the death shadow organization, if faced with the same circumstances in the future, he would inevitably betray Michael as well.
It was for this reason that just after James had been asked the question, Michael began going through the system store, trying to look for a solution.
If he could find one, then he would allow this guy to work for him. But if not, then there was only one solution left, which was to kill him.
So, he completely ignored everyone around, just browsing through the system store, while applying filters continuously.
And just a little while later, he found something that might be helpful.
