Chapter 408: Chapter 408 - The morning after (Part 2)
After looking at me with a stunned face for a few seconds, his face gradually became flushed and he abruptly turned around. He then sat again beside his parents at the table we just left earlier. He covered his face with both his hands but you can still see how red he was from his ears and parts of his neck.
Since he finally let me go for a bit, I happily took some food from the server and since I am nice, I took food enough for two people. The other one would be for the shy guy covering his face over there. freewёbnoνel-com
I went back to the table while happily humming a song with two trays of food on hand. I placed one tray of food in front of Quintin and one in front of my seat. Quintin’s parents kept looking back and forth between me and their son in confusion. I simply smiled at them and started eating.
When Quintin felt that I was back and I was treating his parents like any other normal day, he removed the hands covering his face and looked at me wordlessly with his mouth agape. He then said with a tone of finality, "You are going to come home with me and my parents. We all have to talk."
I looked at him with a raised eyebrow while chewing on my food. I then nodded and continued eating. As for the guy, he clicked his tongue in annoyance as to how I was cool about everything that was happening. What does he want me to say or do anyways? I did agree to the meeting, right?
After eating, I stood up and carried my tray back to the place where I got the food earlier. I thanked the servers and also gave them appreciation for the dishes that they have prepared. I practically just helped in cutting up the ingredients so the idea of the menu is all on them.
Quintin was following me closely the whole time as if he was scared that I would suddenly disappear on him or not go to the designated meeting time and place. I couldn’t help but shake my head with a helpless smile. This small action did not escape his notice as he asked me with a low voice, "What are you shaking your head for? What? You changed your mind after having your fill? Want to eat and run?"
I stopped walking and turned around to face him. He stiffened and stared at me with widened eyes, a hint of nervousness very evident in his countenance. I smirked and asked, "Just so you know, we did not do the last step so you are still all well and good. As for escaping, do you think you have the ability to stop me if I really wanted to bail out and not talk to you about anything? Do you want to try it?"
I scoffed at him and then turned around abruptly. I continued to walk but this time it was quicker. I heard footsteps following right behind me. It started with brisk footsteps then it became running footsteps as I felt someone grab part of my clothes suddenly. When I looked down, it was Quintin’s hand. It took everything in me not to laugh at him.
Imagine this. There is a full grown and muscular man holding on to a small part of a woman’s clothes like he is feeling scared of being left behind. He even has that pitiful scolded face while looking down on the ground. How can he be so cute and funny at the same time?
I couldn’t help but look at him for a few seconds then I removed the hand that was holding on to my clothes. I heard him gasp in surprise as his eyes suddenly looked at me. He looked sad but then I suddenly grabbed his hand so I can hold it in mine instead. I also slowed down a bit so we are walking side by side. It did not matter anymore if other people can see.
His parents who were walking in front of us looked back and gave us a knowing smile. We continued walking until we made our way to the chief’s house. Once inside, I sat on one of the soft chairs while the chief and his wife sat across from me. Quintin sat a bit far from both me and his parents as if he is scared of what is about to occur.
I sat comfortably on my seat with no intentions of saying anything. Quintin stared at me in disbelief but he eventually sighed and spoke first. He said nervously, "Father, mother, I believe I have strong resonance with Ms. Luna. I became a bit crazy because of it yesterday. Last thing I remembered was going to the lake to cool myself down then she came for me seemingly sensing my distress then everything just went out of control after that."
His parents were more calm than expected as they just looked at each other with evident worry in their eyes. Quintin’s father slowly spoke in confirmation, "Resonance, you say? When you said "going out of control", how much are we talking about here?"
Quintin’s mother was now looking at me as if asking me with her eyes what exactly did I do with her son. I looked back at her and mouthed, "I just helped get his fever down. I am innocent." I saw his mother chuckle at this and then she looked at Quintin who is yet to answer his father’s questions.
She added in a serious tone, "Did she help you deal with the resonance fever? Or, if I should be direct, are you still pure, son?"
Quintin then looked at each of his parents and his eyes started to redden in guilt, "I... She helped me. It is really resonance, father. I’m.. she touched me... But... I... I’m still... pure."
I heard a sigh of relief from both of his parents and he was simply looking down on his hands in shame. I looked at him and was confused about the reason why he was feeling ashamed about it. Is it because he let those things happen between us? It’s resonance! Everybody goes temporarily crazy because of it!
His father then asked Quintin, "So how are you planning to move forward with this situation? I am not saying that you can just forget about it but the fact that you are still pure means Ms. Luna hasn’t really did you too bad, right? If it was another woman, she would have done everything that she can do to you since you are not in your right mind anyways. She could have escaped to another town or village if she wanted to and you will never see her again, you know?"
