Chapter 267: The baroness’s reaction (2)- 20 more

When he did, it took the same time of almost six seconds for the silkworm to start weaving again.

When it did, Clara quickly moved her hand forward and grabbed the end of the silk that came out.

Theo thought that she was going to pull the silk out, which would either break the silk or make the silkworm feel weird.

But she moved with the speed of a silkworm. The more it pushed out, the longer the silk became.

When it was long enough to come outside the box, Clara used her other hand to attach the end of the silk to a wooden reel.

That was when Theo realized what she was doing.

She started rolling the silk with strands going in a zig-zag manner from one end to another.

"By the time this part reacts with the air and solidifies, I will be done reeling it around the other end, making the silk not attach with each other, young master. The speed at which the silkworm is producing it is actually a good pace for this process." She said with a smile while slowly reeling in the silk.

When Theo looked at that calm but happy expression on Clara’s face, a warm smile crept over his face instinctively.

He knew Clara was trying to work hard since the addition of Elias, but even when she did, Elias’s skills of scouting and information gathering were so much better that Theo had started to rely on him more. 𝘧𝑟𝑒𝑒𝘸𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝓁.𝘤𝘰𝓂

And he knew Clara was taking a toll because of it.

’I am glad you found another thing you are good at, Clara.’ Theo thought.

He wanted to say it out loud, but he could already imagine her flustering and breaking the silk line she was doing so well with.

For the whole four minutes, the silkworm kept sending out the silk, and the wooden reel’s brown surface had vanished.

In its place were lines of silk on top of each other. What was even more impressive was how the silk was still somewhat glowing after solidifying.

At the 5-minute mark, the silk from the silkworm’s side snapped, and the thread fluttered around the air like a spider thread.

But Clara was able to flexibly maneuver it so well that it didn’t touch any surface of the box, and even the last bit was attached to the reel.

"Phew." She took a deep exhale after looking at all the silk on the reel.

"Did you learn this from the fabric-making book, Clara?" Theo asked with happy curiosity, to which Clara nodded.

"That book has so much knowledge about almost every type of fibre, even what you could get from insects. Sometimes... it feels like I don’t deserve reading it, young master."

Theo only smiled and looked at her. He was going to warmly explain to her for the hundredth time that it was not the case, but Clara spoke before him.

"I know what you’re going to say, young master." She spoke with a smile and continued, "I know I am one of your people now. And I am so proud of that title that it always makes me want to jump around in happiness."

"The knowledge you’re making me learn through this book... I promise that I will always keep helping you like this. Although you already know this, right?" She spoke frankly with a prideful smile.

Theo’s eyes widened in shock. He felt so great hearing what she said that he could have shed a tear in front of her.

But he went and offered a military elbow tap instead, which made Clara grin.

She tapped his elbow with prideful eyes, and then they both looked at the silk in her hand.

"Ant queen, thank the silkworm for its help. It will be getting a lot of good medicinal herbs to eat for this help." Theo spoke out loud to let Clara also know how this all worked.

The ant queen’s agreement came through the bond, and Theo kept staring at the silkworm, who went and started eating the nearest leaf like usual.

Until it halted and shrugged off from the leaf it was eating, and actually moved its head toward Theo, which surprised him.

"Its intelligence has become so good now," Theo spoke out loud while Clara kept staring at the new silk with ideas popping in her head.

When he looked at her, Theo chuckled.

"How much fabric can you make with this, Clara?" He asked, making her come out of her mind.

"Hmm... I think I could make one as long as my index finger and as broad as my two fingers." She spoke with a smile.

"..." Theo kept staring at her and then at the silk on the reel.

"Isn’t that too low?" He asked, making Clara maturely smile.

"It’s not enough for us, but it’s a lot in comparison to what it came from, young master." She said while pointing at the silkworm, which was still waiting for the herbs.

When Theo saw that, he first went through his stock to get it the rewards before thinking forward.

"How many more silkworms would you need to start producing an adequate amount of fabric that will actually help us start making some products, Clara?" Theo asked, making Clara go into thought.

"If the production of the silk stays the same, young master... then I would have to do some calculations with Elias’s help before giving you a number."

’Ant queen, can you take in 20 more of these silkworms with Hive link?’ Theo asked, making the ant queen send emotions through the bond that were equivalent to a ’nod’.

"Alright, you do that. Meanwhile, make an order of 20 new silkworms for starters. I know you would need more than 20 at least." Theo spoke, making Clara think for a while before nodding.

He knew math was not her best suit, but she was still okay in comparison to what her status and profession were before becoming an attendant.

"And we gotta make a product soon. I want to show it to mother to know its worth as soon as possible."
