Chapter 140: Three attacks

Jon would have normally launched the first strike, but this wasn’t going to be one of those fights. If these people truly wielded the power of the "Moon"—and he had a fair understanding of its reach—then he knew it wouldn’t be a simple clash of fists.

They fought with their minds.

"Cynthia, you all need to fall back," Jon ordered.

No response.

He turned—and his heart sank. Cynthia and her two regiment leaders were already in a daze, eyes glazed over, their consciousness clouded.

’They already attacked?’ Jon thought, activating his Moon Gaze. He scanned them, recognizing the effects of a mind-based skill similar to his own ability to sever awareness. But something was wrong.

There had been no mist. No sensation of mana. Even his Divine Mind Eye hadn’t picked up on it.

Then he saw it, the glowing mark over the enemy leader.

’So that’s their medium.’ Jon muttered.

"Strange," the moon leader said, narrowing his eyes at Jon. "It doesn’t work on you?" Even though Jon had a connection with the moon, he wasn’t strong enough to ward off his skills, right?

Jon didn’t answer. He didn’t need to. Unknown to them, Jon’s Passive skill Moon path blocked all mental-type skills up to the third realm, so a second realm’s trick wouldn’t even faze him.

Silently, he spent 500 mana points to form three large Cocoon Webs, encasing Cynthia and the others in protective barriers.

’It’s been a while,’ he thought, remembering when he used those webs to swing between trees.

Then he unsheathed his newly-forged spear, and his familiar Black Rod morphed into a second spear—both glowing with a crackling blue aura.

It might have looked as if Jon had forgotten about these skills, however, he hadn’t. Not one bit.

Each time he entered the Mind World, more advanced forms of his abilities were revealed, new evolutions he couldn’t afford to activate just yet.

He couldn’t risk using them and filing the last of his slots. The brilliant mind said 10%, but with the rate at which more uses were being accumulated in his Mind world, on the spot, he was confident of forming three skills.

Hence, the reason he went to weapons and armor. However, he realized from his fight against the orcs that they too, had limits.

So, for now, he would rely on what he knew: Aura, Moon energy, one strike, Cocoon web, Shadow steps, Cloud steps, and Extra step.

After he ensured the three were sealed safely, he then placed a treasure beside them:

[ONE-TIME TRAVEL (BLACK RANK): USING 30 POINTS OF MANA, YOU CAN TELEPORT TO A DESIGNATED POINT.]

It was one of many treasures he’d secured on his journeys, and this one was perfect for emergencies.

"Huh. You’re actually planning to fight us?" the moon leader asked, incredulous. Behind him stood seven second realm warriors—each individually stronger than Jon—and a sea of first realm and unranked soldiers.

And even just with the unranked, a lot of them could kill a second realm, right?

However, Jon didn’t reply. He simply activated—

[Principle of Inscription]

BOOM.

His aura erupted like a storm, shaking the battlefield.

The moon leader’s face contorted in horror. ’That power...’ It shouldn’t exist in a single person.

Without a word, Jon threw his black rod to the right with full force.

Before it even touched the ground:

’Explode.’

BOOOOOOOOOOM.

A devastating shockwave tore through the moon army, annihilating thousands. The rod, once a loyal weapon, had served its final purpose, showing its last show to the world.

Before the dust settled, Jon was already in motion again.

He thrust his spear forward, this time triggering a skill he’d never used. He would have loved to use the skill in a better situation, however, there was no choice.

[TELEKENSIS (SECOND REALM) LEVEL 5: YOU CAN CONTROL MOVEMENT OF ANYTHING AROUND THE 50 METERS

EFFECT: VECTOR CONTROL: USE 200 POINTS TO CONTROL SPACE]

With a loud stomp, he twisted and focused the vector control at the tip of his spear and released it.

WOOOOOOOOOOOP

A vacuum-like distortion formed, a miniature black hole. Screams echoed as moon soldiers were dragged in by the thousands.

"Stop..." the moon leader murmured, his voice trembling as his army vanished before him.

Jon turned again—this time, preparing his Divine Judgement Spear.

No use of Will this time. Just One Strike.

He hurled the weapon with unrelenting force.

"STOOOOP!" the moon leader bellowed—

BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!

Three devastating explosions rocked the battlefield in three directions, wiping out entire regiments. Nearly every unranked fighter was dead, and half the first realm warriors lay broken.

Those still alive scattered and backed away in sheer terror.

The only relatively safe ones were the moon people around the seven second realms, the second realm themselves, and the scattered moon people.

"ENOUGH!" The moon leader’s voice cracked with fury, his body soaked in sweat, red-eyed and shaking.

Jon exhaled, staggering as the pain racked his body. He had just spent hundreds of mana points in seconds, after all. Even with the Principle of Inscription, the strain was enormous.

He pulled out his staff and leapt off the ruined structure, landing with a bang that shook the cracked earth.

The moon leader’s voice trembled. "Why... Why did you kill them?"

Jon stepped forward, his expression as if he was looking at an idiot.

"You come here... to my place. My HOME. YOU demand my life, and you ATTACK MY PEOPLE." He emphasized each word with pure and brittle fury.

"..."

The moon leader said nothing, still burning with rage. Everything Jon said was exactly what he had done; however, as a leader and a king, he couldn’t just accept it, right?

"Don’t worry," Jon muttered. "I’ll give you the death you deserve."

He leapt again, raising his staff and swung down with a crushing strike—

BOOOOM!

As the dust cleared, he realized. His blow hit nothing.

Now the seven second realm warriors stood 200 meters away, untouched.

But that wasn’t what stole Jon’s focus.

Behind them... hovered a massive Blue Moon. 𝐟𝗿𝐞𝚎𝚠𝐞𝚋𝕟𝐨𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝕔𝕠𝚖

Its glow intensified, and beneath the warriors’ markings, the moon began to fracture into seven distinct shards, aligning with each of them.

Jon’s eyes widened.

Each shard... pulsed like a heartbeat.

Something had been awakened.

And it was about to rise.
