Chapter 70: Round up

With the sudden power-up Alexa had, Laura was anticipating something for her, too. Her eyes were almost sparkling in anticipation, however,

"Laura, you’re good."

"What?" Her expression immediately reversed.

"Yes, you just need to continue the way you are going. You just need to put more power into your attacks."

After what seemed like an eternity for her, she looked down and thanked him before walking away.

She must have expected something. Jon could see it, but it wasn’t always like that. Maybe there was even something that his gaze showed, but he couldn’t see it or understand.

"I think you guys can do better now." He nodded at them, as if gesturing for them to quickly get it over with.

Laura didn’t waste time; she rushed at the spider she had been fighting previously. With a furious and embarrassed face, a thin crown appeared over her head. And—

RUMBLE...

The gathering of lightning was more powerful than the last time she used it."Dieeee!" she screamed and threw out her hand.

KATCHACHC!

The spider that had been blocking and deflecting her attacks suddenly started shrieking under the powerful lightning.

Though it didn’t die, it was different from before.

"She must have really been expecting, huh?" Cynthia was shocked at the new power Laura was displaying and shook her head. She, too, took a look at the scythe in her hand and disappeared with the wind.

Wind slash.

Concentrating wind on the edge of the blade, she swung it at the web that was being hurled at her.

The web was split apart, and another came, which she split again.

She suddenly found it easier to use her wind manipulation. At the beginning of the fall, she usually stayed at the back and was only using long-range attacks, but now she was a close-range attacker, and she had never felt better. Even now, using a scythe she had never used before, she felt better than ever.

And as for Jenny, she realized that defining herself wasn’t something she could do at the moment, because, whether she liked it or not, in this new world, she didn’t think she knew herself that well.

But she could start with what she knew about herself at the moment.

I am Jenny—

And by defining herself even a little, her flame became darker; even if it was a little, it was finally taking form. And she moved too. Her fire started causing burns to the monsters. Though they hadn’t grown their skills to the point of killing them in one go, it was still something.

Among the girls, Alexa was the highlight of the group. Applying gravity manipulation on herself changed her fighting style, so she threw her spear aside, not that it was useful to her anymore.

She went in with her fists and legs.

BOOM... BOOM... BOOM...

She was causing the most damage to them, especially since she was mostly targeting the beetles.

Twice her strength wasn’t anything to scoff at.

After defeating their first enemy, they grouped back and attacked the rest together. And when they did, the monsters died faster. But true to their being above level 40, after killing 15 of them, they became exhausted.

The last five couldn’t take it anymore and moved to kill when the girls were tired. They had lost too many already, and if the monster in the form of a boy was going to stop them, they would risk their lives. And if they couldn’t kill the boy, at least the girls had to go.

The girls truly couldn’t move, and though they were getting stronger and their mana was replenishing, they still needed time to adjust, so they could only look at the looming five monsters overshadowing them.

The fury could be felt from them.

"You wouldn’t dare." Alexa mocked the monsters with a smile on her face. She was covered with blood—both hers and the monsters’—but she never felt better.

The monsters surprisingly jerked a bit at the mocking words of Alexa. And true to her words, they wouldn’t dare because—

"Die!"

It was silent; they didn’t even know when he approached, but he was already above them in the air and activated the special move ’One Strike’ on his hand five times—once for each monster.

BOOM... BOOOM... BOOOM... BOOOOOM... BOOOOOM!

As if it were building momentum, the attacks got more powerful as he punched through the five. Losing their lives immediately, their bodies fell to the ground.

"Still seems impossible," Laura frowned as she said. It seemed she hadn’t gotten over it, even after releasing holy hell on the monsters.

"Rest a bit. I’ll be back," Jon said and immediately disappeared.

His destination was obvious to the girls.

WHOOSH

Soon, he reached the area where he killed the monster leaders and used his gaze to scan the surroundings for any drops. The beetle leader was easier to search for because he had killed it in one place.

Two orbs? He looked at the orbs he picked up beside the beetle with surprise. It was the first time getting two orbs from a monster.

Then, let’s see if it also has one. And surprisingly, it also had a core.

Then—

His head immediately turned to the area where he had killed the spider leader. With an expectant gaze, he checked the area around in case anything had flown out after it fell to the ground.

And truly, a few meters from the corpse, he found an orb. However, that was all.

I guess that kind of luck is rare. He clicked his tongue and went ahead to check the other spiders and beetles he had killed.

After searching and picking them, he also put some corpses of the beetles, especially the leaders’, in his watch. He couldn’t ignore good blacksmith materials. In the process, he took almost all of them.

Now I can leave. He was about to leave when he remembered something.

Why were they fighting? He had first dismissed the question, since he had to survive the fight in the first place to even ask that, and they had to be fighting for a reason, right?

He at least had to know what caused it. He was now a leader, his subordinates could have died upon finding themselves in this kind of place, so he couldn’t just dismiss it as a coincidence or a normal fight.

Now that I think about it, the leaders didn’t move from their spot, he now remembered. All those times, the leaders didn’t move. He thought they were just sending their subordinates to die. Was there really something?

After thinking for a while, he raised his watch to see if it could guide him, and surprisingly, it did.

The watch was still operating even in this situation, so when he looked at it with an expectant gaze, it shifted. All three hands suddenly moved in a certain direction; they all pointed to 12.

So it works. And if it isn’t considered a treasure by the watch, I have to actively want to find it. He nodded in understanding. He was beginning to understand the watch.

After showing him the general area, the watch had finished its task, so it returned to the time it was normally counting.

Jon gasped in shock. It was still counting while it showed me the direction? The minute hand was no longer where he remembered it previously.

There’s still so much to learn. Shaking his head at the thought, he went in the direction and spread his senses to their limit.

Almost immediately after spreading his senses, he spotted it. And the moment he set eyes on it, he felt his blood churn a little.

What? He was confused at first, but he realized it immediately. this was one of the situations he couldn’t understand, so he used his gaze.

What he was looking at was a white puppy with blue wings and golden horns. It was a weird description for a puppy, but everything about it screamed special and different.

And as for what he felt in his blood as it stirred, it was apparently the level of the puppy’s blood? He was confused about it, but the summary was—

’Basically, if I drink its blood, I can strengthen my own blood.’

But why would I drink its blood? His mind took him back to the times he basically bathed in the blood from the first realm monsters, and they didn’t smell like metal and iron the way blood usually does.

And even the unranked monsters don’t smell that bad. He thought back to when he killed them, and the smell was less potent than blood.

Would my blood smell? He looked at his finger, wanting to check it, but he wasn’t a fan of hurting himself on purpose, so he shook the thoughts off.

But what could this puppy be doing here? And looking now, it’s even in its first realm already? He was looking at the puppy with curiosity and surprise.

He had long since understood that size didn’t necessarily mean strength, but this was still too much. It was just sleeping on the floor without a care for what was going on around it.

Should I take it? Jon mused. There’s a chance it might attack later, but ’Moon Gaze’ says it isn’t hostile.Trying something, he reached out to grab it, still on guard for sudden attacks, but there was nothing like that.

It was still sleeping, even in his palm. And he realized it was small, really small, the size of his palm.

Then he tried putting the puppy in his watch out of instinct, and surprisingly, it wasn’t rejected.

’So it can store life, too?’ He really wanted to stop getting amazed at the abilities of the watch, but he couldn’t help it. Even though it wasn’t directly affecting his strength, it was still a big support, one he would choose over many attack skills.

Not wasting any more time, he took one last glance and returned to the girls.

"Are you done?" he asked.

"Yeah," they answered, and from the looks on their faces, they were satisfied with the result of their fights.

"Then let’s leave." Like that, they went back to the camp, stronger than they left.
