Chapter 71: Web?

The blur of five figures flashing by the familiar forest at a fast pace was still a novel feeling.

At this point, if even an unranked evolver saw Jon move, it would look more like teleportation. The changes in the world really brought things many wouldn’t have thought were possible.

Ironically, some children had probably been telling their parents about the possibilities of things they watched and read coming to life, and obviously, they were dismissed as nonsense. The reason for their dismissal was obvious: the adults were always so occupied dealing with the reality of life and facing different issues—issues and realities that didn’t have that kind of possibility.

So, due to this event, everything had reset. Everyone was now at the same starting line, except the babies and the elderly. Now it was more like a division between confident people and those who weren’t.

All around the world, different scenes can be seen at the moment. People previously used to being the boss or being acknowledged everywhere they went were now at the mercy of the people they had once or twice offended or bossed around. Some of them even pushed down their fears and fought against the zombies to remain the bosses over the people they had been.

But, among all that was happening, one thing was common in almost every surviving country or area—the number of deaths from their fellow humans.

So many dark things were erupting at the same time.

In a certain area, far away from Jon,

The familiar Poison Lord was releasing her stress by having sex with survivors and killing them afterward, the Blade Lord was using the survivors to test his blade skills, and the Beauty Lord was manipulating the thoughts and memories of the survivors, and they did all of it with a smile on their faces.

They finally felt free from the shackles of Jon; it was bliss for them. However, it was pure horror for the survivors with them. There were a lot of students who followed them to go to their homes to see what was left of them, but here they were, being killed for the simplest reasons.

Their numbers had decreased by almost half, not because of monsters, but because of the leaders.

Even the people who joined their group in hopes of leaving Jon’s influence were now among those who obeyed due to fear.

There was always a popular saying: one didn’t know what they enjoyed until they lost it. They suddenly missed the university cafeteria they left, and the invisible protection Jon gave them.

And that was just in one of the numerous places.

The future was looking bleak.

But there was also a saying: in evil times, there would be heroes and good people. It was unavoidable.

Just as some places were slaughter camps, some places still maintained their sanity and protected the weak; some were still searching for modern weapons for safety. And among those places that still maintained their sanity, the camp Jon’s group was silently entering was among them.

With their arrival, the camp had finally found a reason not to give up; they were given food, shelter, and opportunity. It was even better than before the fall, when there wouldn’t be opportunities at all.

Even though the sky was dark and the future still seemed bleak, they fell asleep with smiles on their faces. They were satisfied with what they currently had, and it was thanks to the barely adults who should still be arrogant and making mistakes.

Some of them had already even resolved themselves to the possibility of not meeting their families again. It was painful, but they couldn’t be sad all the time; they had to move on.

Particularly seeing a young boy who wasn’t too sure of the situation of his family giving them the chance to move on, they would hold on to that rope with their lives without causing any trouble. Of course, there were still survivors among them who even despised the whole thing, and they knew better than to rebel.

...

"Then, later." Immediately after they got back to the camp, Jon split up from them.

Not replying, the girls watched him leave with different emotions. Little by little, he wasn’t even telling them what he was going to do.

After a while, they too left to do their things.

...

Entering the mansion, without wasting time, Jon removed his clothes and went to the bath.

"Haa..." He relaxed his body as he felt the water pass through his body, with a smile on his face. He had already cleaned himself with mana, so why did he still come here?

’Open.’ Then the messages he had been getting from the fights started pouring in. This was the last thing he had to do before he finally satisfied his curiosity.

[YOUR **** LEVEL HAS INCREASED][YOUR LEVEL HAS INCREASED][YOUR LEVEL HAS INCREASED][YOU HAVE RAISED YOUR FOUNDATION][YOUR MARTIAL LEVEL HAS INCREASED][YOUR UNDERSTANDING OF ’MOON’ HAS DEEPENED][YOU HAVE FORCIBLY LEVELED UP ’MOON’ TO SECOND REALM (LEVEL 5)][YOU HAVE FORMED A PHYSICAL CONNECTION WITH ’MOON’ AND THE ’MOON’][YOU CAN NOW USE THE ’MOON’ AS YOUR STRENGTH AND UNDERSTAND ITS NATURE][YOU HAVE OBTAINED ’WILL SENSE’][’WILL SENSE’ (UNIQUE): YOU CAN SENSE, USE, AND MANIPULATE WILL BETTER]

He suddenly found himself reading the last message. ’No, I have to start from the top.’

Shaking off the urge, he went back to the first message. The asterisks on his window—

He had been seeing it quite often. "If I can’t see it, don’t show me in the first place," he frowned as he spoke to thin air. He always got annoyed when the system did it.

Then he skipped the increase in level; he already knew that.

Now, looking at the next message, it was also something that had been showing lately. His foundation—this one displayed itself, but he couldn’t understand it. He even tried to ’Moon Gaze,’ but as expected, it was among the things he couldn’t understand. ’Well, let’s leave that for now.’

Moving on to the next one, he kind of understood. It was his martial skill. Since his ’Will’ increased, his martial skills would naturally increase.

Next, ’Moon.’

He could still feel the strong connection to the ’Moon’ he now had, and it was still amazing. ’Will I ever get to see the moon?’ With a fleeting hope, he moved on to the next.

Finally, ’Will Sense’—it was showing itself as a unique skill, one he hadn’t gotten before. And even looking at it again, he was still surprised at the description.

’And considering it is in its basic form...’ He began laughing at the possibility. He could now feel the ’Will’ in him; however, it was so small. But what that small could do was amazing.

’Imagine using will to attack itself.’ His almost useless thought couldn’t have been more correct, but he wouldn’t realize it today.

After looking at his messages, the next thing he looked at was the orbs, of which he counted five, and three of them were from the monster leaders. The drop rates were still low, but at least it could be compensated for a little by the number of cores he got. The rate of core drops was quite high this time.

Without much thought, he cracked the first orb, and he saw a thick book. A message showed:

[’ENERGY GENERATOR GUIDE’: CAN TRANSMIT POWER THROUGH THE USE OF CORES.]

"Haa, I really want to stop getting surprised too much." He had been getting too many surprises recently, and he wasn’t really liking it. If he was surprised about everything, he might die before he knew it.

It had just been about 15 days since the fall, and except for those using backup converters, there was total darkness. However, no one complained because that was currently the least of their problems. Who wouldn’t trade staying in the dark to survive?

From the description, it was made for this kind of situation. However, for now, it would be impossible. First off, the consumption was huge. Another was the materials used in making them—they didn’t have one, not to mention how to make it.

With a deep sigh, he cracked the second orb:

[OBSINE BROWN METAL SPEAR (UNRANKED): USE FIVE POINTS OF MANA TO ACTIVATE PIERCING EFFECT. LARGER MANA RESERVES RESULT IN STRONGER PIERCING EFFECT. EFFECTIVE FOR ENEMIES UNDER LEVEL 15. AGILITY +5ATTACKING POWER: 100DURABILITY: 100]

"Ahh," it was the spear he had gotten from his first treasure orb, and it brought back memories. He didn’t know why, but it was already feeling like a long time ago. The days really felt like years at the beginning of the fall.

However, he had no use for it, but someone else would. So he put it aside for now and opened the third orb.

[’CERSIE’S BRACELET’ (BLACK RANK): USING 20 POINTS OF MANA TO DETERMINE THE INTENTIONS OF PEOPLE. CAN ONLY BE USED FOR WEAKER OPPONENTS THAN THE USER.]

"Wow, this would be useful." However, he wasn’t going to use it; there was someone he wanted to give the bracelet to.

Moving on to the fourth orb, he saw a scroll and learned it.

[’DOUBLE JUMP’ (FIRST REALM): USING 20 POINTS OF MANA, YOU CAN MAKE AN EXTRA JUMP IN THE AIR.]

"New skill!" Overjoyed by the skill, he dragged the end like a song. It was really a suitable skill when fighting a large number of monsters. And if one thought about it well, it could also be used to avoid an attack.

Filled with happiness, he checked the fifth orb. And it was also a scroll.

"Please, whoever is up there, help me." He put his hands together as if praying, and he learned whatever was in the scroll.

[’COCOON WEB’ (SECOND REALM) LEVEL 2: USE 30 POINTS OF MANA TO USE WEB.EFFECT: WHEN USING WEB, PRESENCE IS REDUCED DRASTICALLY.SPECIAL ACTIVATION: USE 100 POINTS TO SHOOT OUT MASSIVE WEB.]

"T-The spider’s skill?" He hadn’t expected to actually find the spider’s skill here. "Looking at it, the last attack must have been the special activation." He looked at the description and stretched out his hand.

"Let them know, Spider-Man is here." As he commented, he shot out a web from his wrist with his fingers curling inside.

PTHH

As the web hit the wall, he mused, "So this is how it feels."

He smiled as he took a liking to the skill immediately. Maybe before, he would think too much about it, but he had the ’Brilliant Mind’ skill. He was confident in finding better ways to use the web rather than just releasing it.

And after a few more tests with his newly obtained webs, he stepped out of the bathroom.

’It is time.’
