Chapter 75: Hidden Strike: Rebels?

With Jon’s approval, they planned for the next day. The chasing leader was healed and then tortured for information about the forces of the camp.

Well, during the torture, one could only say he was a hypocrite.

The torture hadn’t even started when he started talking. He spilled the location of valuables, forces, survivors, and the evolvers’ strength level.

Day 5

Thanks to a certain group, they were busy again.

But this was different from all they had done before. They were attacking other people. When they volunteered to be evolvers, they didn’t think they would have to aim their powers at their fellow humans. And even for the people who expected it, they didn’t predict it would be this early.

Now, no one knew if there were any hidden strengths in the other camp or if the information the chasing leader gave was correct, so they decided to come up with a plan.

Gar’al would lead the evolvers, while Cynthia and Alexa would stay among the evolvers in case of any hidden strength. There were other people like the pair of archers, Ronald, Norman- the head of security in Palflic, and Robin- the assassin. Lowering their strength level was already something they had learnt, so it made it easier.

They named this type of attack the ’Hidden strike.’ The figurehead leader would provoke and fight the leader of the group while Cynthia and Alex would assist from a distance and watch for any unforeseen circumstance.

Though they weren’t meant to say it, from the stories they had heard, Killian was very smart and strong. The method of increasing evolvers by turning the survivors into zombies was genius, and the fact that anyone who protested disappeared testified to his strength, even without that. Killian obviously knew people were trying to rise against him. And for the fact that he left them, that meant he was stronger than any plan they might have had.

They couldn’t get carried away in a fight and had to watch their backs. And what made the strategy work best was Gar’al. He was now on the threshold to the first realm, and given enough time, he could match a low first realm, which made him the perfect figurehead.

Since the first group was stronger than the second, they were deployed and moved out. They moved along the road, and since they had been clearing the area, they were able to move faster.

"Hey, is he the leader?" Victor approached Tim, the male archer, and asked with his brows frowning a little. Gar’al was huge, yes, but they now knew size didn’t always matter at all in this new world.

And from what Victor could feel from him, he was strong, stronger than him, but he wasn’t even as strong as the girls he had met, so how could he be the leader?

"Nah, he is someone else." Tim shook his head. At this point, Victor was really curious about who the leader was, and it seemed like it wasn’t only him.

"Shouldn’t he be here for something like this?" Victoria, who also came, asked. She wasn’t wrong about it; attacking another camp was something else entirely. They could win or even lose. Well, even if it would be easy, at least he had to be there.

"What?" Even Gar’al reacted fiercely and looked back and the twins, and they flinched at his gaze.

"Haa...we need more screen time, you know." Tim sighed as he said. Then the evolvers following them started laughing or smiling at his words.

Even Cynthia and Alexa, who hadn’t smiled since the previous day, displayed a change in their facial expression.

And Victor looked around in shock at the reaction of the evolvers, ’Is he really that strong?’ he kept wondering, and as the days went by, his curiosity would reach its peak.

After two hours of running and walking, they reached the area where Alexa had found Victor and Victoria. And the twins were looking at the area with a solemn look. This place would have been their grave if not for luck being on their side.

They made silent vows to themselves to become strong enough for this to never happen to them again. After a while, Victoria pointed her finger in the direction where the other camp was located.

...

In the distance, almost 5 kilometers away from where Gar’al and the evolvers were, there was a camp. This camp was larger than the one Jon was in by meters, and the number of buildings here was more.

But that didn’t change the gloomy look that hung in the air. If there was one thing common this camp had with the one they stayed at, it was the layout of the camp. The useless, poor, and unwell were kept towards the exit of the camp while the better stayed at the center.

As for the differences, the number of survivors at the end of the camp was far more than the number they were when they started. And for this camp, there were no guards patrolling the fences and perimeter. Ordinary metals and wood were what made up their defense against zombies, and as for how they would know zombies were attacking, the screams of the low-level survivors would do just fine.

Towards the inner of the camp, the luxurious buildings, the evolvers, and people with weapons were gathered. They ignored the remaining places and focused on this area.

In the tallest building in this particular area, a man was kneeling to report to another who was sitting on a luxurious chair on a raised platform. He had white hair and black eyes, not due to old age, but it seemed genetic because he looked young.

But if there was anything anyone in Jon’s camp would say after looking at him, it was that he looked familiar. Very familiar with someone they knew.

"King Killian, the twins, and the chasing team haven’t returned." The man addressed Killian as King. It was a title he fancied recently, and because of that, he always waited for the King to ring well before he answered.

"Who?" Killian acted as if he couldn’t remember who the person kneeling was talking about. Since he was a king, he felt a king shouldn’t be involved in trivial matters unless needed.

"T-The person who put up the barrier to protect the low scum," He explained to him again.

"Oh, that." Now Killian remembered, and he frowned. He didn’t like that situation at all, so he ordered their capture, but they suddenly went missing.

’Wait, the person there is him, right?’ He remembered something and smiled at the man kneeling. "One way or the other, they would come back."

...

"So, where is the entrance?" Tim pointed at the weak-looking metals and woods that made up the defense of the camp.

"Erm, this is it," Victor said.

"What?"

"So, they couldn’t even make a proper entrance."

"Lead the way to the barrier first." Cynthia, though surprised, went straight to the point.

"Yes," Victor then led them across the ’defense’.

They ran across and followed Victor while looking at the situation in the camp. And if there was anything to go by, it was even worse than their camp before Jon came.

They didn’t even look like they were being fed. The ribs of the survivors were bulging out, some were lying on the ground using whatever they could to cover themselves.

The smell around the area was awful, and the only reason they were able to resist the smell was because they were evolvers. Their resistance to smell had increased, so it wasn’t that bad for them. As they were looking around the area, a voice cut them off,

"W-What, where is it?" Every eye snapped towards Victor as he started shaking.

"What is it?" Cynthia asked from her position.

"T-The barrier was taken down."

DUUM

That meant something really crucial about the situation,

"So, they had someone in the first realm," Alexa revealed while frowning.

"Well, we predicted that, let’s go to them." Seeing Cynthia not acting surprised, Victor regained his confidence and continued his lead.

Besides, from the number they were looking at, it must have been just recently that they dropped the barrier. The number of survivors in the area was so great that they didn’t really mind after finding out the barrier was breached.

With that, they started moving towards the tallest building in the camp.

"Who are they?"

"Are they going to see the king?"

"What’s with their numbers?"

"A-All of them are evolvers."

Naturally, as they moved closer to the tallest building, the people started looking well off. And they couldn’t help but wonder why they were moving towards the tallest building. And among the evolvers, they could recognize two people,

"Hey, aren’t those the twins?"

"Huh? Yes, the healer and the other one"

"But why are they there?"

Then they began talking about the twins. If there was one thing common about those they saw on their way to the tallest building, it was that they were all young.

The ’king’ seemed to despise middle-aged and old people, so the people around were just young people.

And true to being young people, they would follow the trend were they could be satisfied. They would despise their friends if that meant they could be comfortable.

"STOP"

It was inevitable that they would be stopped before they got to the front of the tallest building. Most of the people guarding the area had already come together and surrounded Cynthia’s group. But who was leading them?

"MOVE," Gar’al raised his voice back at the evolvers blocking their path.

"What?" the evolvers were confused. They were the ones boldly coming to them, so why were they shouting?

One of them then stepped forward and asked, "Are you rebels?"
