Chapter 77: Luna vs Liam

The silence was loud, and the shocked eyes were blinding as Gar’al shook off the blood of the now-dead Duke Gram.

He didn’t even say anything after and looked in the direction, the remaining Dukes were hiding.

"W-W-WHAT?"

"H-HOW?"

"He was a duke for crying out loud."

"H-He really killed a duke."

The evolvers blocking the area, the privileged survivors, the elites, and even the dukes and their elites hiding were all shocked. They all thought it was going to be a tough one, but the result came faster.

Even Victor couldn’t believe what he was seeing. But he quickly regained his confidence and spoke to Luna, "S-See, the difference." He was beaming with a smile in his mind. The duke who was acting high and mighty in this camp was being defeated by a person he hadn’t even met in the conference room.

Luna was especially shocked at the outcome; she didn’t believe it could be possible. She tried to believe only the words of Victor, but she needed proof, since she was also in charge of lives. So, when she saw the duke die, she knew it was her chance.

She then stepped forward and shouted, "I think it’s time."

Every eye then turned to her in confusion. Suddenly, people started coming from all over towards her.

They were all evolvers, and seeing one of them, Victor knew who they were,

"Rebels?" Victor uttered.

"Luna, you were the leader of the rebels?" Victoria asked in serious surprise.

"Yes," After answering her, she looked at Gar’al and said, "We would like to join forces."

"Huh?" Gar’al was really shocked at the situation. He couldn’t understand the twist that was occurring, so he just looked towards his group. It was as if he was getting confirmation from someone. It was obviously Cynthia he was getting it from, and seeing her nod.

"Uh...Okay," He answered and looked back at the now approaching dukes. Everyone had missed the short conversation, but Luna didn’t.

She just nodded and looked back at the evolvers around Cynthia.

She was acting as if she was measuring her new allies, but ’It must have her, she looks different. I knew it, the one who fought Gram must have been a figurehead.’ She was now looking at Cynthia.

She had been watching the situation closely, and she would rather accept even Victor as the leader rather than Gar’al.

When Cynthia saw the gaze, she displayed surprise, smiled, and nodded at Luna. ’So, we really had no chance at all.’ Luna sighed as the thought of what might have happened if she hadn’t come out now.

"Miss Luna, are you sure?" One of the rebels walked up to her and asked her in an unsure tone while looking at the group Gar’al brought that had still not moved with wary eyes.

"Yes, don’t worry." Luna smiled lightly and looked at Cynthia one last time before turning to the dukes and their elites.

"Who are you?" One of the dukes then moved cautiously to Gar’al and asked.

"ONE LAST TIME, SURRENDER OR DIE," Gar’al shouted again and waited. The elites started wavering, after all, they had seen the deaths of someone stronger than them.

"You can’t come here, to the king’s place, and act like this."

Maybe because of the mention of the king, the wavering elites didn’t waver again. But that didn’t change the fact that 4 out of the new twenty elites changed sides.

"Y-you traitors"

"You deserve to be fed."

The elites were throwing curses at the elites who left. When the 4 elites got to the other side, there was now a clear dividing line.

More evolvers had come out and joined the kingdom, the dukes, their elites, the elites of the now dead Gram versus, Gar’al and his group, Luna and the rebels, and the people who had defaulted from the kingdom.

"Now, die." Still in his transformation, Gar’al immediately appeared in front of the duke and punched out.

And the fight started.

Luna then went for the second duke while the rest took the elites and the evolvers.

"Duke Liam," Luna approached the slim man, who looked on the verge of becoming a middle-aged man with narrowed eyes. He looked gentle, but his character was anything but gentle. He was the one in charge of all the dark things Killian did. He even fed some of the dark thoughts into him.

"So, you were a rebel, you will be fed, though?" Liam acted as if he wasn’t bothered about the death of Duke Gram again.

"I don’t think so." As Luna was talking, she was preparing her mana and shot out her skill. It was an ice spear.

"You don’t even know what you’ve done. If you kill me, what next, do you think you can defeat the king?" His arm became dark in color, and he raised his hand to block the spear as he talked.

Luna hesitated for a moment when she heard the king. she, too, wasn’t sure if the group she joined could defeat the king, but she could only go forward and not back.

"I’ve made my decision." She shook her head and firmed herself and spread her hands.

Weapons made out of ice were raised in the air and hurled at Liam.

BANG...BANG...BANG...BANG

After the continuous hurling, the attack stopped, and Liam could be seen. "Wow, you really were meant to be a duke." He shook off the tingling pain in his hand as he approached.

He was also there when Luna rejected the position of duke from the king. But he didn’t think much about it then, but seeing her strength now, she must have deserved it.

She didn’t reply to his words and started laying ice traps around her and waited for Liam to approach. She had used the long-range attacks to stun him and secretly layered some ice on him.

As Liam approached, the places people would disregard when blocking were covered in ice. He didn’t have enough time to remove the ice he moved forward.

He ran forward and appeared facing Luna. She then raised an ice wall to block his attack. With his hand covered in black, he slammed against the ice wall and smashed it to pieces.

His fist met Luna’s face, but he frowned afterwards. The feeling of crushing her mouth wasn’t heard. Then,

POOF

’It was a clone?’ Liam widened his eyes as he stepped back and started looking around for Luna. He then saw her running towards him. ’She wants to go head-on?’ He smiled and ran to meet her when his leg hit one of her traps, and he stumbled forward.

But, she didn’t stop her approach and raised her hand to form a hammer, and then.

BOOOM

Liam hurriedly put up his hands to block the attack, but that didn’t work out as he was slammed to the ground.

"Ughh," He coughed out and immediately tried to stand, but chains made of ice were already covering him. "YOU BITCH." Liam roared and tried to shake off the ice.

CRACK

The chains couldn’t withstand his strength, and they shattered. He then tried to stand, but he realized he was heavy. He looked at his leg, just to see it frozen and Luna slashing an ice sword at it.

"W-What, NOOO" He tried to move away, but,

SLASH

"ARGHHHHH" The feeling of the muscles, bones, and blood being frozen after being cut made him scream.

"Shut up, you’ve fed people. You deserve worse." Luna didn’t react to his screams and started freezing other parts of his body. When Liam destroyed her ice, she latched onto him. So, it wasn’t wasted. And when the time came, it was easier to freeze them.

After slowly freezing him, she cut off everything he had. His screams were just a lullaby for her; she let him suffer before killing him.

"Haaa..." Luna finally released the tension that had been built up since the beginning of this issue.

She then looked around to see the situation.

She could see Cynthia nodding her head at her, she also saw the woman beside Cynthia also looking at her. Luna looked away to see Gar’al’s fight.

Gar’al was already standing over the corpse of the duke he had fought, and the allies were pushing back Killian’s force, but she couldn’t smile yet.

If Killian wasn’t dead, all of it was just useless. So, she moved to help her rebels.

...

In a familiar room, a messenger was reporting the situation.

"King, all the dukes are dead." The messenger, too, was shocked as he was delivering the message.

"What?" It seemed the ignorant king finally realized the situation." Wait, were the rebels that strong?" He asked again

"Yes, the people who came to our camp joined with the rebels and attacked?"

"People came to our camp?" He asked in confusion. He truly didn’t know about this part.

"Yes, we initially thought they were the rebels until the rebels came out."

Killian then stood up. He was glaring at the messenger with an angry gaze.

"Why am I just knowing people came to my place?"

"T-That’s-" Before he could talk,

THUD

His head fell to the ground with a loud thud. And he shouted, "Next."

And another messenger ran inside and knelt. His body shivering in fear, "Who is the strongest among the rebels?"

"T-The one who killed Duke Gram and John, he is large in stature and looks like a beast."

"Beasts need chains." He passed by the messenger and was muttering something and said, "1,2 we have rats to clean up."

"Phew..." the messenger sighed as he was spared and was about to stand when two figures passed him, and "Eh?" he couldn’t see anything after that as he collapsed on the floor.

"You will regret making this king move." Killian angrily broke the window of the building and jumped down.
