Chapter 79: Days

In the tallest building in the camp,It was the throne room Killian used, but now a large table had been placed in the middle.

Sitting around the table were Cynthia, Alexa, Victor, Victoria, Luna, her direct subordinates, Tim, Robin, the default elites, and some other people.

They had left Gar’al and a few others to clean up the remaining scum while they discussed what to do next.

Then Cynthia started, "Many of you don’t know me. I am Cynthia, a leader of the closest camp to us. And this is Alexa; she is also a leader."

"And as of today, we are taking over this camp. You will be integrated with our camp, not too far from here. Don’t worry, the rules aren’t that bad. Now, before we know the next step, we have to know how much food, weapons, and resources are available. Who was in charge of that?" Cynthia looked at Victoria, who rushed out of the room.

After a while, there were new people in the conference room. They were shivering; they were already scared of Killian, and now they were seeing bigger monsters than Killian. Cynthia didn’t even bother and asked them,

"How much food is available?"

"W-We have enough to feed everyone for two weeks," the head chef said.

"That’s not good." Two weeks might have sounded far in the distance, but considering that in their camp they had made plans for months, weeks were too small for them. So, she asked again, "Do you have monster meat?"

"Yes."

"Good, then tonight everybody in the camp is eating meat," Cynthia said with a light smile.

Everybody looked at her with a surprised look. Who didn’t know the monster meat was only for important people? But now she wanted to give it to everybody.

Honestly, all Cynthia needed to do was copy the method Jon used for the camp they were in, and everything else would fall into place.

"That is all we would do for today, feed everybody. Tomorrow we will begin." Then she gave roles for people to perform during the meals and dismissed them.

It turned out that the survivors were fed once every two days, and today happened to be that day, so it made things easier.

Hours later, survivors could be seen coming out of different places to collect their food. And their reaction was close to that of the survivors from where they came.

They ate it and wanted to fight for more, but scapegoats were used, and they learned the hard way. Before long, they became orderly. The food healed their sicknesses and brought color back to their bodies.

After that, Cynthia introduced herself and the existence of their camp. She also told them of the deeds of the former leaders and what they planned to do with them.

Since most of them had started regaining their previous appearance, they agreed with Cynthia. They had just recovered, and they didn’t want to go back to that lifestyle. And even if what they were saying was a lie, at least they would get to eat better food.

A few hours later, Luna met Cynthia again and asked curiously, "How did you come up with that idea?" She honestly thought it was genius.

"It wasn’t me; it was the leader," Cynthia shook her head lightly and revealed.

"Leader? When you say leader—?" Luna had already thought Cynthia was the leader of the camp she was from. So, for her question, she didn’t need to complete it.

"Yes, I am not the leader. He is someone else." She looked at the sky for a little while she suddenly thought of Jon.

"What’s he like?" Luna asked.

"You’ll get to meet him later. If you’re that curious, come with us." Cynthia revealed a slight smile, as if daring her.

"Urghh?" It seemed Luna was weak to things like that.

"But you don’t have to rush it." With that, Cynthia disappeared into the wind. As she said, there was a lot to do. She had to judge which camp would be best to move everyone to; she also had to decide who would stay and go.

They also needed someone to report to Jon all that was happening and bring in Nancy and some more evolvers for protection.

After a while, she decided to let Alexa go back and deliver the message and bring Nancy, while she did what she had to do.

It was now the night of day 5, and Alexa returned to the camp. Nancy was also there to greet her, and they both went to see Jon together.

Entering the familiar workshop, there was now a change in the surroundings. They could see Jon shirtless, hitting a hammer against something, and an old man also hitting something beside him.

And on top of Jon’s shoulder, there was a puppy that was staying there silently and looked at Alexa and Nancy when they entered. It looked at them for a while before looking away. Though the girls had something to say about it, they didn’t want to disturb his concentration.

And after another hour, Jon dropped the hammer and wiped off his sweat. "Whew."

"Jon?" Alexa called.

"Oh! Hey, how are you doing?" he smiled and greeted the girls.

"Good. We won," Alexa said.

"Oh, and how was it?"

"The guy was the son of the former leader of this place. And—" Maybe because she hadn’t really talked to anyone lately, she talked to Jon and elongated the story more than usual. 𝘧𝓇ℯ𝑒𝓌𝑒𝑏𝓃𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘭.𝒸ℴ𝓂

Jon just smiled and listened to the story. He understood her, and if just listening was what she wanted from him, he would do it.

After listening to it, he said, "Okay, Nancy, you can go. You can take the evolvers and survivors from here to show them how things are done. You can tell Cynthia to do the general level-up and prepare for a merger after determining which camp is larger. And we move in five days when I come out. We will have the next general meeting after that."

After giving out instructions, the girls left.

Day 6Basically, a repeat of what was done had to be done again, but this time there was a lot of help.

Evolvers and survivors were transferred to help the people of the new camp cope. The jobs were called out for people to choose from. A lot of them also picked fighting, and they were divided into four groups instead of two.

Jon wasn’t with them. They couldn’t overestimate themselves and make a mistake, so a smaller number was formed in each group. Then a census was taken of the general people, evolvers, and for separate jobs.

The amount of work to be done was so mountainous that Luna, who hadn’t even decided to join, was put to work. But she didn’t complain. After the people from Jon’s camp started coming, she realized the level Cynthia was on. And she met another one named Jenny, and even the always-scared Ronald.

Because of the way things were, the camps were named—giving the one Jon was in, Camp 1, and this, Camp 2.

After seeing everything, she started becoming a little jealous. She also wanted to be part of this little group of students, which she was still surprised about. But she needed to know two things before she decided to join them. And those two things needed the attention of the leader.

And at the end of the day, Nancy called for a meeting in the tallest building of the camp."We discovered this camp can contain a larger capacity than the one we are currently in. So the merger will take place here instead of Camp 1. And we move here in five days." After the reveal, Nancy left for Camp 1 again to monitor the preparations being taken care of by her team.

Day 7They had completed Camp 2’s general level-up, and the members of Jon’s original team were entering their first realm. Robin, Norman—the head of security—and Gar’al entered on this day.

The camp was getting stronger, and the evolvers were also leveling up.

Little by little, things like food and important stuff were being transferred to Camp 2. By now, the people in the second camp had adjusted to the new lifestyle. Slowly and surely, life was being brought to the camp.

The rules and incentives were brought up.

Victoria had become the camp’s healer and gathered others who had healing skills to form a healing team. Victor had joined the evolvers and became a squad leader.

So he had the opportunity to learn the application of mana. There was something about just learning the application of mana. Yes, one becomes about half as strong as they previously were, but the main thing is about their skills.

They learned to think outside the box, which made it the perfect reward for them as squad leaders.

At the end of the day, Nancy wasn’t around to give a report, so she sent her team member.

"Today, there has been a general increase in the strength of people. And there is now a special calling for blacksmiths for weapons and botanists for special plants with new abilities."

Day 8Today, they finally finished training and the level-up procedure. Now, more teams and squads were sent out for various tasks. Survivors, provisions, and factories were found.

Now, most people from Camp 1 had migrated to Camp 2.

While the survivors from Camp 1 were now settling down in this new camp, the policemen and evolvers were making a new perimeter around the camp from the trees that had absorbed mana.

After that, they were advised to level up to be able to handle their new endeavors. So, towards the evening of the day, they went for their own level-up together with the botanist team.

By mistake, an evolver had stumbled on a plant that made him feel better just by looking at it, so he reported it and was promised a reward if what he said turned out to be true. Because, though he didn’t say it the right way, this evolver had just discovered the new plants in this new world.

Later that day, Nancy’s main report was, "We have found plants that shine in the dark."

Day 9It was so different from the other days because Jon ordered everyone to rest. Anyone found working was to be punished. From what they had heard from the people from Jon’s camp, Jon hated disobedience.

Even Nancy was warned to rest. With all the work they had just done, they all deserved a rest.

So, they all took the full day to rest. They finally had time to calm down and recount the things that had happened in the past few days, settle down, check their systems, and receive their rewards and pay.

The survivors from Camp 2 still couldn’t believe what had happened in recent days, and they wanted to thank the person who made it happen.
