Chapter 82: Little whyte

"You..."

Jon looked at the white puppy on the floor staring at him. The puppy still had its glowing blue wings and golden bumps on its head, which Jon assumed to be horns.

He had said he would give it to one of the girls, but he had put it in his watch and forgotten about it.

Now, the confusion in all of this was, how did it come out?

Instinctively, he looked down to see the situation with his watch. Looking at it, there didn’t seem to be any problem with it; even the time was still functioning.

’Wait, time...’ He looked at his watch again, just to see the time in a totally different place than where he left it.

"What?" He jerked up in surprise and looked at the watch again. It was very shocking.

He knew the time spent in the ’Mind World’ was quite displaced. He could spend about five minutes in the ’Mind World’, and about twenty minutes would have passed in the outside world. However, now, why was he calculating 14 hours gone, when he felt like he had spent an hour in his ’Mind World’?

"Is this also a drawback?" he muttered in thought, having completely forgotten about the little puppy still staring at him. Everything about the ’Mind World’ seemed too flawless. Is that why it says for blacksmiths... he then began piecing things together. He was starting to understand it a little. A blacksmith like Mason was a full blacksmith, so the time lost might not matter as much to him.

However, he couldn’t afford to just lose 14 hours. But he still wanted to learn a thing or two about blacksmithing. Maybe it gets better later, he nodded to himself, and now looked around.

"Oh, right..." Now looking at the puppy again, he began wondering how it got out. "Where is..." Glancing behind him, he saw Mason also with his eyes closed. He seemed to also be in his ’Mind World.’

"Now, how did you get out?" Looking back at the puppy, he now focused on it.

"...", the puppy didn’t even react, not to mention replying.

It just continued staring at him.

So it can’t understand me. Jon had his gaze active as he looked at it. Then, reaching out to touch the puppy, however, it suddenly vanished.

"Huh..." Immediately spreading his senses around the room, he then snapped his head to where he detected it next.

What was that... Bewildered by its ability, Jon reached out again. And true to what had happened, it vanished and appeared at the spot it had been previously.

"I-Is it really..." He wasn’t sure, however he wanted to confirm. Reaching out his hand, he tried to touch it again with his gaze still active.

"It really was..."

After about ten tries of trying to touch the puppy, he finally figured out what the ability was.

Without even knowing, he bloomed a smile on his face.

What else could make him smile like this if not any ability related to Space?

Reaching out his hand for the eleventh time, he finally touched the puppy. What the puppy was doing earlier was teleporting, and after teleporting ten times, it seemed the puppy was tired.

It made Jon wonder why the puppy didn’t teleport away. Even if the distance was a problem, it would have tried to teleport in a different direction.

However, it was only teleporting around him. There was even the issue that now, while touching it, the puppy didn’t back away in fright or awkwardness. Did it want to play? Looking at the puppy again, it was making purring sounds and tried to move its body around his hand.

After petting it for a while, the puppy suddenly stopped and sat. It wasn’t trying to sleep; it was just staying there, even looking at the ground.

And maybe because his gaze was still active or due to his quick thinking, he realized the issue almost immediately.

"Food, huh..." He looked around. It wasn’t time to come out yet, and from what he had realized, he didn’t particularly need to eat. It seemed mana did more than just preservation. 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝙬𝙚𝓫𝒏𝓸𝓿𝓮𝒍.𝓬𝙤𝓶

Before the Fall, a person could only survive about two days without food. However, with him evolving, and particularly in the first realm, he didn’t need food.

But then a thought came to him. With a wave of his hand, carcasses of monsters came out. While hunting, he sometimes took the full carcass of the monsters since he wasn’t knowledgeable about them. And true to his thoughts, the puppy immediately looked up with a brightened face. "Alright, wait here." Chuckling at the puppy, he took the monster that looked like a chicken.

There was really nothing else he needed. He already had a skill for cutting, and this place was hot enough. So, without wasting time, he roasted the chicken monster and diced it into considerable sizes for the puppy.

Looking at the meat, the puppy was already drooling and glancing at him and the food in turns.

"Hey, eat up." Seeing the meat again, he ripped his own part and started eating. Finally, seeing Jon eat the monster, the puppy didn’t waste time and ate the meat.

With the first bite, it showed a look of surprise, and it immediately continued eating. It seems monsters also get stats. He quietly observed this puppy. It was clearly different from others he had seen previously.

As a puppy, it could already teleport. I am suddenly curious about what else you can do. He had already discarded the idea of giving the puppy to the girls. If it didn’t have the teleportation skill, he might not have bothered. But now it did, he wanted to keep it.

"Since you are staying with me from now on, you should get a name." And as if the puppy understood the name part, it snapped its head from the food and looked at Jon with a hopeful look.

"Now that I think of it, is it a male or female?" Even his gaze wasn’t giving him any answer from the characteristics he was seeing.

"So, a unisex name." Looking at the puppy again, it was small, white, and a puppy. And as if everything fit itself, he spoke, "Little Whyte."

"..." However, contrary to what he expected, the puppy gave him a scared look. "Hey, that’s my last name, you know."

But the puppy just ignored him and continued eating its food. However, that wasn’t the end of it:

[YOU HAVE FORMED A CONNECTION WITH A BEAST COMPANION]

[YOU HAVE NAMED YOUR BEAST COMPANION ’LITTLE WHYTE’]

"So, this happens too." Looking at the puppy again, it seemed it could actually be a companion.

"Wait, wait, a beast companion?" Jenny’s eyes sparkled at the mention of a puppy companion.

"Wait, so you got a companion and the best name you could give it was Little Whyte?" Cynthia, however, laughed and mocked him at his naming sense. She really was the only one who could mock him in this camp.

"Can—can we see it?" Alexa displayed an attitude they had never seen before. However, it wasn’t new to Jon. It seemed her brother’s death took a toll on her, and she became reserved.

But she didn’t feel the need to be reserved all the time; she had to let all her stress out sometimes.

Maybe because of Alexa, he brought out Little Whyte on the conference table.

"Urgh..."

"S-So cute..."

"Ah..."

The reactions of the girls were obviously that it was cute. Even Laura couldn’t hold back and stretched out her hand to touch it. But then, it vanished.

"What?" Laura looked around her, only to see it a few centimeters away from its previous position. She looked at the puppy with a flushed face; however, it kept staring at her with its normal look.

"Looks like someone can’t handle a puppy." Cynthia mocked and reached out to touch it, but the same thing happened.

"What?" She clearly didn’t expect it to happen, and neither did the other girls.

And after everything, Jon just stretched out his hand, and the puppy went into his hand. He then began to pet it and continued, "So I—"

"Hey, I will kill that puppy." Cynthia cut him off and glared at the puppy. It seemed she was angry at what the puppy did. Her face displayed fury—and it wasn’t just her.

RUMBLE...

Laura didn’t waste time and started gathering lightning, Alexa was already muttering something about gravity, and Jenny, who seemed to be the calmest, even brought out her flames.

"Hey, hey, calm down..." Jon seemed to sense the tension and tried to stop it. Even looking at the puppy, it seemed to be a little frightened.

He eventually had to keep it back in his watch, and the girls finally retrieved their attacks, but made silent vows to kill it when they saw it again.

"Tsk... how did you do that?" Cynthia narrowed her eyes as she suddenly saw the puppy disappear.

"Yeah, I saw something like that before," Jenny said.

Now the girls were curious about a new thing. It could be said that Jon had never revealed the watch’s ability like this.

So he was thinking of what to say, "I—"
