Chapter 85: One month later: First

Silence...

The protesters even kept quiet for a moment.

It was strange...at least someone was supposed to have come out due to their ranting. Yet, there was no one, even the guards ignored them.

"Then, we should try to move south fast because..."

Then approaching voices broke the silence around the area.

Turning their heads, they saw five people walking towards their direction. A man and four women, and honestly, their looks stunned them all. They really looked like models, especially the woman with creamy hair.

And as they were approaching, they totally ignored Adam and the protesters and kept moving towards the building.

Then, confusion started building up in the protesters, they didn’t even know what was happening. While anger was building in Adam.

Luckily, since none of them knew who any of the five were and not wanting to offend anyone they didn’t know, they chose to wait,

"Who do you think you are?" Of course, except Adam who was already on the verge of exploding with anger. Yet, the five didn’t even glance back and kept walking forward.

"Hahaha...so you are ignoring me." Without wasting time, he gathered wind in his hand and on his feet. And was about to move to attack, when he saw it,

The guards who had totally ignored them bowed at the five and opened the gate in hurry. And when they entered, they closed the gate and stood back without caring about Adam.

"W-What!" Adam’s eyes widened as if they were about to pop out as the wind he gathered dissipated.

He realized instantly, the people who just passed him and who he was about to attack, where the leaders he was calling out on.

He knew it instinctively, ’I almost died.’ If he had attacked, he would have died. His body suddenly got soaked from sweat.

Who didn’t know the leaders were powerful. For the fact they overthrew Killian and even killed the two royal guards, they must’ve been powerful.

He immediately lost the will to continue, looking back to his people, he spoke, "L-Lets go back."

The protesters too seemed to have realized the same thing, so they agreed and turned around.

But, who would allow them. After causing that trouble, they couldn’t be let scot-free just for realizing their mistakes.

The police officers who normally patrolled started gathering on them,

"Move away," Adam frowned at the police officers gathering on him. He already started gathering wind on his hand and leg. However, the officers didn’t stop and continued moving towards them.

"I warned you," He immediately shot towards the officer at his front. However before he could reach anywhere, a larger fist punched out to meet his.

BANG

"Urghh..." he was flung back without any resistance. He screamed and looked at his hand which was already mangled.

"Fuck...my hand." He screamed and looked at the person who was the cause.

He saw the man who looked more beast than human, huge, hairy and bare chest. It was all the characteristics of Gar’al.

"Pitiful..." Gar’al just shook his head and walked away. The officers smiled and thanked Gar’al then moved to do their jobs, they beat the protesters.

"Ahhhhhhhhh..."

The only thing anyone could hear next where their screams.

Even as Jon and the girls entered the building, they didn’t talk about it.

Things were already as hard as they could be, and people were here trying to make it more difficult.

They just didn’t have time for that, it was among the rules they made, to beat who ever tries to disrupt their peace and work.

If there weren’t satisfied, they could just leave the camp and not cause problems for others.

...

The conference room on the top floor,

Jon and the girls had just returned from checking out the progress in their plan to talk about other things.

And though, it wasn’t perfect, they could manage for now.

There was never the luxury to use the pre-apocalyptic weapons and they would soon realize, they made the right choice by not trying to depend on them.

When Nancy had said there was enough food for about two weeks, he said it was good, but realistically speaking two weeks was a short time. They had to find a remedy to that, but for now the daily gathering of monster’s meat could do.

The food problem was also among the reasons they introduced the biology team. To check for new plants they saw and it’s uses or if they could find any food from them. 𝐟𝕣𝕖𝐞𝐰𝕖𝚋𝐧𝗼𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝗰𝐨𝐦

There was also the issue of power. Communication systems were already cut off on the first day and for the light. It could be said, they have been running on a back- up for a while now. And a back-up usually didn’t last for a long time, they could only be said to be lucky.

There was then the issue of transport. Yes, they could clear the road and move to some places, however, there was a very high chance for monsters to also be in the waters. And if there would be in the waters, they would also be in the sky.

Thankfully, none of these have occurred, so there was no cause for alarm. However, as the leaders, they had to begin to think of solutions to these problems.

But, it wasn’t only bad news they kept hearing,

Though there was a daily record of deaths of evolvers, they were getting stronger from the experience and pain. And because of that, the number first realm evolvers or on the threshold has taken an increase.

And maybe because of the incentive method the leaders thought of, they were all satisfied.

There was also the increase in food supplies and materials been brought to the camp daily, and the confidence the general population displayed in these hard times.

Little by little shops, entertainment places where been brought up to ease the pain of the situation.

There was also the issue of security. Since the place was regularly patrolled, walkie-talkies were placed in strategic points to coordinate every situation, and with evolvers also checking the surroundings, the survivors who were just workers were able to sleep and act without worries.

And through these ups and downs, they had been able to manage well.

That was how their days went on, hunting for monsters and leveling up.

A week later, they all gathered back in the top floor of the highest building.

There were here for two reasons for this meeting.

The first was, it was finally time to delegate and divide the people into their divisions, regiments, legions and so on. And the second reason was, it was finally a month since the world fell.

The first day, week, month, year always meant something significant in this kind of situations.

On the first day, the world fell and the first week, new monsters appeared, and now it was the first month. They were here to know how all of it would be handled if such a situation occurred.

However, that was at the back of their minds. Everyone was on the edge as their positions in this meeting would change a lot of things they could and not do.

Many of the evolvers among the current camp didn’t have too much hope. They felt they hadn’t been given enough time to prove themselves. And the evolvers from the camp 1 knew Jon was going to favor those he came from the university with.

"Hey, do you think you will be among?"

"Obviously, I’m now a level 15 you know."

"Bah...I’m higher."

The people with little chances kept giving themselves hope. While the people who felt like they would be among didn’t talk.

"Miss, what do you think you would get." An executive of the rebels asked Luna.

"I’m not sure." She just shook her head. Honestly, she didn’t know how Jon was going to do it.

She hadn’t seen him since the last meeting. And since then, she had grown in levels more than before and from the looks of it, Jon had never watched her fight, so she didn’t think he would make so many great choices in this meeting.

And at that moment, Jon and the girls entered the room.

In another side of earth...

"S-Sir, we can’t handle them again, they have invaded." A man spoke with a face in panic and hurry towards another man standing behind him.

"It seems there’s no choice, launch it." The man said.

"S-Sir..." the man behind the controls looked back at him with a face filled with fear.

"Just do it." Veins appeared on the face of the man who ordered and not wanting to offend him any further, they acted with haste.

"Launch nuclear code 34-5-6"

The first nuclear weapon in this apocalypse was launched.
