Last Ruler Of The Empty Throne-Chapter 88: Camp crisis (I)
Upon reaching the exit, Cynthia could see the various monsters rushing towards their camp.
Shadow cats, power bears, apes, lions and even monsters they had never seen before. And behind the rushing monsters, larger versions of them could be seen just standing.
They seemed to be the commanders of the attacks.
"Miss, this is the situation." Julius nervously explained to her. The monsters hadn’t even reached their perimeter, but with the dust gathering from the distance, they knew.
But Cynthia didn’t say anything and kept looking at the wave rushing towards them. And before long, the evolvers of the Wind slaying legion started appearing.
She was the only legion without a regiment leader, so she had to handle everything. So she didn’t waste time,
"We have done this before, pair yourselves in twos, watch your backs, sides and front. Go."
They couldn’t wait for the monsters to get to their perimeter. They had to stop the advance.
So, immediately the evolvers who had been going out of the camp on their own didn’t fear the overwhelming number. They just ran to defend, trusting their leader’s command.
This was the discipline Jon had always wanted to instill in them.
Before long, Jenny and Laura also appeared with their evolvers. Without wasting time, they also joined the fray.
And upon reaching the rushing monsters, they numbered hundreds upon hundreds. And before long, they reached the monsters,
"Argh...die." An evolver spun with his body and sword to create wind tornado with himself to dissect the five dog-like monsters.
However, the approaching monsters didn’t stop at the sight of their fellow monsters dying or for fear of dying. No, they stepped over their carcasses and continued.
And luckily, the evolver wasn’t fighting alone, because he froze at the sight of the monsters using themselves as steppingstones to get to him. However, what could they expect from monsters.
A hammer came to the rescue behind to slam the approaching dog creature.
BANG
"T-Thanks," he tried to thank the person who helped him. However, the person he was thanking was already facing another monster.
"Kill them"
"Arghhh..."
"Don’t let them get away"
"Dieee"
The evolvers were motivating themselves and fighting with their lives on the line.
Rocks, wind, fire attacks have been hurled at the monsters and with their treasures they got form the orbs, they defended, healing little of their injuries.
The momentum of the evolvers kept growing and, it felt like the evolvers were going to win.
However,
RARRRR
A bear used its weight to slam itself on an evolver.
GAHHH.
His chest had been crushed with that attack and there was no way to treat a crushed heart even with mana. The first life was lost in this battle.
It was inevitable, they were using all their might and mana to repel the monsters, so it was only a matter of time before they got tired.
And the monsters just kept coming, throwing themselves to death. And true to the eventuality, after the first person fell, a second fell, and a third. Before, they knew it, the death count was reaching twenty and a lot were getting injured due to simple mistakes.
However, as previously said, they weren’t fighting alone,
SSHHHHHH
"Huh, w-what is this?" an evolver stopped to see what was going on.
A red type of mist began spreading all over the places and before they knew it, it covered the battlefield. But there was something strange about the mist.
"Hey, I can see." Another evolver shouted.
"Yeah, I can."
True to their words, they could see through the mist. They didn’t understand what was happening and before they could even act.
SLASH...SLASH...SLASH
"Huh...what’s going on." The evolvers started becoming scared and moving back. They weren’t used to this kind of skills yet.
And the only reason, they hadn’t run away was because, it was the heads of the monsters that were flying off instead.
Like a silent blade, the heads of the monsters began flying off at a fast pace. And if there was thing about the monsters, it was that they had lost their sense of direction.
They were still looking around confused at what they were witnessing. And the assassins of the camp had moved. With Robin and Trudy leading with the most kills, the remaining assassin classes moved.
They were about 20 of them in the camp, though sounded little, they were taking out large numbers.
"I’m almost out." Mia shouted from the back after about ten minutes. It was her mist that covered the battlefield. It could distort the senses of enemies and give allies even better sight. However, she couldn’t keep it up for a long time.
She had already run out of mana, and with her signal, the assassins retreated.
WHOOOSH
And the mist cleared out, revealing the battlefield.
The assassin had taken out quite a chunk of the monsters. So now they were looking smaller than usual. It only remained about a hundred remaining monsters.
RUMBLEE....
And that was when the larger monsters started moving. A lot of them were already on the threshold of the first realm, while the rest were in the first realm.
There were a large number of them rushing forward.
"C-Can we face-"
"W-We will need help."
"I can’t die like this"
The evolvers kept mumbling to themselves, while feeling the oppressive might coming from the monsters approaching.
The monsters they had just fought were all low-level monsters. They were all below level 15 and this was a sharp increase in levels.
From level 15 all the way to 25, one would ask where the middle-level monsters were. And one could find the answer just by looking at the numbers of the threshold and first realm monsters.
From level 15 to 24 were used as boost for the stronger ones. It was as simple as that.
The new wave of monsters had already reached the evolvers and as the first evolver was about to be split apart by a claw,
"Ahh..." the evolver had just reached level 15, and he was about to die, however,
"Cloud sky sword, 1st sword Falling sky"
"Huh?" the evolver began felt like he was in the cloud for a moment, he had even already almost accepted he was dead and went to heaven.
Until,
"Ouch..." the pain of being pushed to the ground brought him out of his daze. Then, he quickly snapped his head to see the monster that was about to kill him.
SLASH
"Gulp..." the evolver swallowed a gulp as he witnessed the monster being split vertically and it didn’t stop there, the three monsters behind it were also split.
"Move back," Norman spoke to him without even looking at him and continued to cleave at the approaching monsters.
CRACKLE...
SLASH...
"Sorry, you attacked us, so you have to die."
Tomen kept apologizing to the monsters as he kept killing them. With lightning flashing at his wake, he reached the monsters faster than anyone. It made one wonder, how did he become a lord. With the personality of the poison and blade lord, he wouldn’t fit. However, that was a story for later.
"Double strength" Simon shouted as he one shot killed a first realm with his glove covered fist.
It seemed he also saw the potential in the skill, and he felt like with this fight, he could even complete his last evolution requirement.
And beside him, his new friend, John,
John used the corpses of the monsters Simon killed and controlled the limbs to fight. It was his safe method avoid direct conflict.
"Ahhh, don’t come again run away." In a different place, Ronald kept pleading with the monsters to run away with a scared look on his face. But it contrasted his actions of killing them by a wide margin.
WHATCHAA
The sound of a whip passing through was heard.
The woman who used a whip kept swinging it like a skilled dancer, no it seemed she was a dancer before the fall.
"Hahahaha, this is a good fight."
"I know right."
A masculine pair kept grinning as they faced the first realm monsters. At this point, the remaining evolvers had been able to step back from the battlefield, making the rest able to use their full strength against the new wave.
BANG...BOOM
BOOOOM
BANG...BANG...BANG
And the battle went on and on,
Kieeeeee
The Threshold and First realm monsters kept falling to the evolvers, however their numbers was getting impossible for them to face.
So, they came together and used the tactic as the previously evolvers. They gathered together to fight and cover their backs.
Mia released her mist again, Robin and the assassins moving for the second time. Some of them were able to evolve in battle and joined with greater strength.
However, even with everything, the first realm monsters proved to be more difficult than others they had fought before.
And before long, their injuries started stacking up.
"Gaah..." The muscular male of the pair using their fists fell on the ground as a deep gash appeared on his chest. And the muscular female moved to block the second attack but was pushed back due to the power in the attack.
Huff...Huff...
They too were now tired, and it wasn’t just them.

In another location on earth,
"S-Sirs, a missile from West Africa was just launched." A man rushed into a room of white to report to the two men doing light exercises.
"What?" One of the men stopped his exercise to focus on the message.
"So it happened." The second man was a little calmer in receiving the message. So they looked at the reporter to continue when another person rushed into the room.
"SIRS, THEY ARE COMING."
"What is coming?" At this point, the expressions on their faces wasn’t good.
"H-Hundreds of G-Green monsters."
And it wasn’t just there. All around the world, when they finally thought things were going to settle down, it exploded with a force than the last.
