Last Ruler Of The Empty Throne-Chapter 87: Changes again?
"Mana..." Gar’al tried to feel what Jon was talking about, but it seemed Gar’al wasn’t that sensitive to it.
"Now that you mention it," Cynthia started feeling her hand along the air. And as if reacting to her words, everybody suddenly started feeling a change in them.
"This..." Jenny felt something in her increase.
"Did our mana increase in quality?" Luna almost guessed the right answer.
"Yes, and it also increased in quantity." Jon, who had already activated his gaze to look at the changes in his body nodded at Luna’s sharp sense to mana.
Then, the shaking suddenly stopped, as if everything that had happened was a lie. Not trusting the situation, they waited for thirty more minutes before orders began to be issued out.
However, more evolvers were placed to watch the perimeter. But that didn’t change the fact everyone was nervous about what was happening. The terror of the fall came back again in full force.
But, it was easier to suppress and calm the survivors down. A lot of them were now evolvers and that came with a bit of adaptation to various situations.
"Watch your surrounding well, Gar’al, Alexa come. Jenny, Cynthia you’re in charge." Jon started having a bad feeling, and he didn’t want to dismiss it just like that.
"You’re going..." Cynthia asked with a wary voice.
"Yes, I can’t dismiss the thought in my mind."
"Then, take me too." Cynthia pressured.
"You and Jenny should stay here in case anything comes here in my absence." He dismissed her.
"But..."
"No buts, stay." Without changing his stance, he started moving towards the exit of the camp, with Alexa and Gar’al behind him.
It was quite funny seeing Jon walking with a towel wrapped around him, but it wasn’t time for that.
Without wasting any more time, he started running towards the exit, with the two following.
On the way, he changed to trousers and took out his black rod.
...
Immediately rushing out of the camp, Jon jumped up in the sky.
Upon reaching his limit, he activated ’Double Jump’ and went higher. Reaching the next limit, he spread his senses outside the camp. With the increase in his limit and the concentration on a particular direction, he was able to see about five kilometers in front of him.
Then, he did it for the three directions around the camp.
’There,’ he spotted something west of his sense and fell back down.
If he had surveyed the surrounding on the floor, most of what he would be getting as feedback were trees, roads, however by jumping up, he was able to sense something.
No, it wasn’t just something. It was an army.
"Let’s go." Gesturing to the two, he began running west.
WHOOSH
Using his full speed, he left the two behind and ran ahead. ’If that thing reaches the camp, it doesn’t matter, everyone will die.’
He hadn’t even seen that number with the number of monsters they fought earlier during the increase in the general strength of the camp.
But that wasn’t all, the number of first realms made his stomach churn. It was like all of them had a forced evolution with increase in the density of mana.
’I want to make it there fast.’ He roared inside him as he tried to see which skill could make him even faster, ’Wait, let’s try this.’
Stretching out his arm, he shot out a long web and attaching to the farthest tree he could reach.
And he attracted his body to the web.
WHOOOOOOSH
"Urghh..." His vision became blurry as he was approaching the connected web as his speed almost doubled. At this point, Alexa and Gar’al couldn’t even be seen.
And even with his speed, it took him about 30 minutes to see what his sense caught.
WAAP
Reaching the last web on a tall tree, he huffed and caught his breath as finally saw the live view of what he saw from his senses.
"What the fuck!" he raised his hand to prevent himself from screaming. Seeing it up close was certainly worse that from his senses.
Because with his sense, he couldn’t see all of it, it had already gone beyond his perception.
A sea of zombies,
He couldn’t see any green vegetation on the over 1km span of land. The zombies covered the whole area. And their screeches and sounds were deafening even to him.
But that wasn’t the worst thing yet. They were all in the first realm and as if that wasn’t enough, they were moving. And their direction was the camp, Jon’s group was.
If he had just dismissed the thought in him, they would wake up just to see tens of thousands of zombies knocking on their door.
But he asked himself a question, ’Where did they come from?’ He could even accept the fact that they all evolved with the increase in mana density. But this wasn’t even amounting to the number of people in the district, not to talk of the whole province.
’How many people would survive this.’ Jon muttered to himself. He wasn’t the type to think he was overly special or anything like that, his own was, if it was happening here, it was surely happening in other places.
And from the looks of things, not all places would survive it something like this.
’Does, the system also produce zombies?’ he thought as he kept staring at the sea of zombies.
That was the only conclusion he had to what was happening at the moment. More zombies rivalling even countries were stuffed in one district.
But thankfully, it wasn’t all bad news.
First, he had arrived on time. Second, he was happy, he didn’t bring more people. Zombies were already known for their one scratch, one death. And he couldn’t stomach just losing people to zombies of all monsters.
Another good news was that their realm wasn’t stable. It was like a situation where one wasn’t ready to accept something, but they still accepted it. Basically, they needed time to adjust to their new level. However, moving from their current location to the camp was more than enough to get used to it so he was lucky to have gotten here earlier.
And that didn’t change the fact there were some that were already firmly in the first realm and their numbers were still a lot.
Honestly, Jon didn’t think he could survive this ordeal, but he had to.
So, as he was there thinking of what to do, another situation was occurring in the camp Jon left.
...
Cynthia looked at the back of Jon getting further from her with mixed emotions.
Honestly, she didn’t know why she acted that way, but she listened and waited.
"Let’s check out for-" And before she could finish.
"Arghhhhh...zombie." Somebody shouted.
"What?" Cynthia snapped her head to the scream and started moving.
"Did a zombie enter..."Jenny titled her head and started following.
"Z-Zombie..." there was another scream from another direction.
"Damn it, Jenny go." Cynthia told Jenny to go towards the sound while she went for the first.
And like that, in different places of the camp, zombies started appearing. And it was only as Laura was passing, that she saw what was happening.
A woman suddenly went limp, with her body hanging forward. She then shook violently and rose herself up. Revealing the lifeless eyes of the zombies,
"The survivors are turning into zombies." She quickly spoke into the walkie-talkie she was with and moved towards the zombies.
Gathering wind with her hand, she sliced apart the zombie.
’Hah...what the hell is going on.’ She didn’t even have the chance to catch her breath before, she heard another sound.
Then Cynthia received the message from Laura, "Turning into zombies?" She gritted her teeth and pierced the zombie in front of her before moving to another.
And as if that wasn’t enough, she received another message,
TSSHKSHSKHSH
Then, it connected,
"Julius speaking, monsters approaching," then the message got cut off.
"What now?" she frowned at the new message.
Then she raised her voice with mana, "Wind slaying legion, move to the exit now. Apex legion handle the zombies in the camp."
She could only order the Apex legion since their leader was absent and she started moving to the gate herself.
The situation was getting more dire by the moment, and it reminded them of the horror of the first day.
