Last Ruler Of The Empty Throne-Chapter 90: Camp crisis (III)
Inside the camp,
"I will take south, you take north." Luna said to Tim and immediately started moving.
The both of them were regiment commanders under Alexa, and with her absence, they were tasked with settling the situation in the camp.
...
Luna spread out the evolvers under her command in threes to take out multiple problems, and she also moved with two people, both were obviously executives from the rebels.
Reaching the nearest scream she heard, she said, "Freeze!"
With the release of the icy voice, the zombie started freezing from their legs to their heads.
It struggled to break free from the ice, however, they kept popping out their bones instead.
’Hmm,’ She displayed a bit of surprise on her face as she crushed the iced zombie. This was the first time she fought since becoming a first realm, and she couldn’t help but get amazed by her powers.
She didn’t even hear the thanks she was receiving by the person; she had saved. Her ice had grown strong enough to completely freeze a zombie, however it wasn’t time for that.
Screams were still being heard all over the place, and she had to move. Creating swords, spears and pikes from ice, she shot them at the zombies she met.
In the north direction of the camp a different scene was playing out,
Pchuu...Pchuu...Pchuu...Boom
Tim and Catchy, the pair of archers were shooting out arrows continuously.
For Tim, he had used a pair approach. The reason was almost obvious; however they all went with it. And Tim paired with Cathy. If previously Cathy was the better one because of her accuracy and finesse, now Tim was the better one.
Upon becoming a first realm, his skill ’Destructive arrow’ took a step forward. Now, he only needed one shot to cause explosions that could sweep dozens of zombies.
"You became better," Cathy nodded as she kept shooting hers.
And even after Tim deciding to pair with her, this was the first conversation they had. And it was Cathy who struck the conversation first.
"N-No, if you become a first realm, you will be able to do it too." Tim became flustered at the praise and almost missed his shot.
"Yeah, I thought so too..." Cathy smacked her lips and continued shooting her arrows as if to tease him.
’Damn, why didn’t I talk first.’ Tim bit his lips in regret and kept shooting faster.
It was obvious. The camp had an easier time dealing with the situation. However, it was nerve wracking because it was zombies they were dealing with. A single scratch could send them over.
Another reason was; the occurrence was too random.
After an hour of back and forth trying to deal with the situations, they thought it was mostly normal survivors who hadn’t started evolving.
However, that was until the evolvers themselves started turning into zombies.
BOOOM
Luna just shot concentrated ice at a zombie that was sprinting around. Yes, the evolvers who turned to zombies immediately began running as soon as they turned.
"Tell them all to gather at ’Play Street’" Luna immediately made a decision and the two executives went to carry it out. It was already getting dangerous, if she left them like that, the death rates will spike up. No, dying was a lot better than turning into zombies.
However, why did she say to gather up, if that was the situation. Wasn’t she supposed to tell them to form more groups at this time more than ever, when even the evolvers were turning themselves.
But she noticed something strange, the zombie she had shot wasn’t actually moving in her direction. It was running towards somewhere else as she tried to stop it.
It was really strange, because since the world fell. The zombies only ever attacked humans when they were sensed whoever this one ignored her. Even with its pierced body, it kept moving as if to fulfill its role.
And since this zombie was acting like this, it wouldn’t only be her. Others will also face this situation, so she made them move to ’Play Street’.
Making her way there herself, she raised up her walkie-talkie and spoke,
"Luna speaking, what’s your situation?" By now, among the survivors, they had been able to find engineers to make walkie-talkies available to all high rank evolvers in the camp.
And that included the regiment commanders. "Tim speaking, evolvers suddenly started turning and moving towards your direction."
’So, I was right, it wasn’t only here. That means, they are after something,’ Luna thought as she had already arrived at the street to wait for her subordinates.
"We should move over." Luna suggested.
"Alright,"
With that Tim also started gathering his subordinated and moving towards the direction the zombies were moving.
Evolvers under Luna started arriving at the ’Play Street’. And from the looks on their faces and the scanty number retuning, it seems some of their partners had also turned into zombies. But thankfully, they weren’t attacked. They didn’t even think they had the mind to raise their weapons against their once comrade.
"They have all arrived." An executive of the rebels approached Luna and reported.
Nodding her head to his report she started, "Many just lost friends, families or maybe even lovers, however, how will they feel if they hear, you couldn’t survive this world because of zombies. It’s okay feel sad and angry, but that shouldn’t be a reason to give up." She stopped for a moment and looked at the faces of those whose attention she got and continued, 𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝚠𝚎𝚋𝗻𝗼𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝚘𝐦
"Even our leader Jon also lost his friend to monsters, so we cannot say we were weak enough to do anything. However, did he let that despair him. No, instead, he used the anger to bolster him, took his anger on the monsters and became stronger. And always, he will forever carry his friend in his heart. I won’t force you to come, this is a free faction, you can leave anytime, and you will even be rewarded for the services you had done. However, if you stay, on that day, you can proudly stand in front of your loved ones and say ’I did my best’"
She didn’t even wait for their responses and started walking towards the direction the zombie moved through, with the executives following closely behind. To the executives, it was surprising. This was the most they had heard Luna talk for. Even when she was rallying the rebels under her she used less words.
And it was another thing to know about Jon. It wasn’t strange to say, Jon’s legend had already begun. His pains, achievements will continue to be told.
Curious about the answers of the evolvers, the executives turned to look. And surprisingly all of them were following closely behind, with their faces filled with new resolve.
’As expected of the miss,’ The older looking executive bowed his head and followed.
...
Due to the distance difference, Luna and her regiment were the first to arrive at the gathering of the zombies.
’What are they doing?’ Luna frowned as she stopped her regiment a certain distance from the zombies. The zombies didn’t do anything and just clustered together. They didn’t fight, but strangely, they kept gluing themselves to each other.
And Luna couldn’t move to attack because this was a different situation from the one, she was used to.
Even after 30 minutes of waiting,
The zombies didn’t show any signs of doing anything, and luckily Tim and his regiment had already arrived.
After he approached her, she explained the situation,
"I see..." Then he had a thought, ’Should I try hitting it.’
"I want to try something." With that, he took out am arrow and placed it on his bow.
"Mmm..." Luna was about to refuse, however, if they didn’t try they wouldn’t be any progress. So, she just kept looking.
TWAANG
With a sharp shot, the arrow went up in the sky and went to a zombie in the middle of the cluster.
BANG...
The zombie immediately fell, and the explosion caused ten others to fall.
’Alright now-’ As he was about to say attack. Something happened,
All the zombies started expanding.
"W-What?" Tim widened his eyes in shock at the situation.
However, Luna, who had a better mana sensitivity, felt the irregular flow of mana. And she immediately made a decision,
"Everyone, fall back now,"
They were lucky they were quite a distance from the zombies; however, Luna thought it wasn’t enough.
"Move," Tim believing Luna snapped the evolvers from their daze with his shout. What she was sensing was the zombies contrasting and expanding their mana.
And at a certain point, like a trigger they would,
BOOOOOOOOOOOM
