Chapter 92: Camp crisis (V)

"Recover your mana, we are going back to see the situation back in the camp." Cynthia said to all the evolvers that had just finished fighting the wave of monsters.

Cynthia approached Laura and Jenny and asked,

"Are you both alright?"

"Yeah"

"Just a drain of mana," Jenny waved her hand at the question.

Nodding to their answer, she looked at Laura and asked,

"Laura, can you wait with your legion here in case for any changes, while Jenny and I go to check the situation."

"Sure."

It had been a while, they had heard the explosion and their minds couldn’t help but become restless. However, they were out of mana at the moment.

If they rushed in where there was danger, they would end up becoming liabilities and maybe losing their lives instead. So, they decided to wait, trusting that Luna and Tim could handle it.

Twenty minutes later,

Cynthia and Jenny with their legions already gathered and were rushing back into the camp.

Rushing into the camp, a group of seven approached them,

"Legion leaders," The man in the middle who seemed like the leader spoke as they approached.

However Cynthia didn’t stop moving and said, "What happened?"

"Yes, while suppressing the zombies..." The man with his team rushing to keep up with Cynthia reported the situation as it had happened.

"I see..." Jenny nodded.

"So you don’t know what they were fighting." Cynthia asked again.

"No, they entered what looked like a cloud of darkness." The man reported.

Jenny and Cynthia looked at each other. They remembered facing a situation similar, however they couldn’t place how the zombies and the skeletons related in any way.

After five minutes of running, they saw the expanse of land that was already covered in clouds of darkness.

And without hesitation, they entered.

...

Facing the level 20-25 skeletons, surprisingly they were holding out better than usual.

Luna began laying traps all over place as she moved around the battlefield. She didn’t begin fighting yet, because Tim’s arrows were doing enough with the destroying and Cathy’s arrow was assisting the evolvers.

However, the skeletons fought back. Their bones were stronger than the previous ones thanks to the black flames glowing around some parts, their skills were better.

Thankfully, there wasn’t any archer amongst them, the death count would have increased by a lot. A level 23 skeletons spun his shield to block the attacks of two evolvers. But they kept shooting at it, trying to wear it out or destroy the shield.

"Just die, damn it." One of them swiped forward with his wind gale with more mana and fervor.

"Don’t stop." The second kept throwing fire balls. The combination of the two was making fire burner fiercer, however the skeleton kept its shield up and strangely moving towards them.

"Damn it, why is it coming close." The first evolver screamed again.

"Don’t worry, I’ll fry it the moment it comes any closer." The second one smacked his lips in a smile while thinking of using his special activation of his skill.

And it got closer,

"Now, di-" His words got stuck to his throat.

Glancing down a little, he could see a dagger made of bone pierced through his throat. Then looked at the skeleton already at his front,

"W-What, i-it had a weapon." The first evolver shook as he saw his dying comrade.

"Y-Y-You, dieeee...." Preparing a strong attack he lunged his body at the skeleton, however his body stopped in his tracks again.

He too glanced down and saw a knife at his throat. ’He had another dagger...’ were his last thoughts before he fell to the ground.

And that wasn’t the only place, similar situations were occurring around. The evolvers started falling.

After about 20 evolvers had fallen, Tim became furious,

"How dare you skeletons," He continuously fired his arrows until fingers began to bleed.

Looking at the situation, even the evolver who hadn’t died were sustaining injuries; both major and minor ones. And he too was running out of mana, the situation was looking bleak. It was then,

"I’m done." A voice was heard beside him.

"Huh?" Turning his head beside him, he saw Luna still calm and collected.

"W-What are you talking about?" Time asked, he knew Luna couldn’t have said it just to joke around,

"You can stop now, everybody fall back." After telling him to stop, she shouted to the fighting evolvers.

Reluctantly but surely, they obeyed and fell back.

"Then," With a snap of a finger, the skeletons who began to chase the retreating evolvers suddenly started falling to the ground.

Looking back, they saw an ice trap that wasn’t there before. It made them trip over. And before they could get up to continue, the traps turned into chains.

It began binding them. Many of them were able to break of, however more of the chains started appearing from thin air to bind them.

After struggling with all their strength a bit, they weren’t able to resist the chains and became still-still shaking at times.

"W-What..."

"This..."

"T-That is..."

The evolvers were shocked at what they were seeing. Even Tim who wasn’t sure of what to do was shocked at the display she was making. And the next one made their mouths drop.

She uttered, "Blizzard"

And from their chains attached to them, they froze.

The freezing wasn’t slowly starting from the legs or anything like that. No, from the moment she uttered blizzard, all of them became ice.

And as expected, eyes were popping and mouths were dropping at the scene. They couldn’t even say anything and just looked at her.

"Whew..." Luna exhaled and looked at her work. Blizzard was a skill she got upon entering the first realm and the description made it powerful. And looking at it, it really was powerful.

"Let’s rest a little before the next come." Luna turned to Tim, who was still stunned at her actions.

"H-Huh, oh yeah, we can wait." He shook of his stupor and agreed quickly with her.

"People who can’t advance, take the injured back..." Luna started giving orders.

The evolvers weren’t allowed to get any more amazed at the situation. They could only swallow their comments about the monster and continue. With the evolvers who couldn’t continue leaving with the injured. The remaining people left were the regiment, battalion and platoon leaders.

"Let’s go" Luna said and they advanced.

As they were advancing, the darkness kept getting thicker. However , no skeletons were in sight.

They decided to continue advancing,

And after about 20 minutes of walking, they entered a thick darkness and realized they were in a dome of some sort. This time only the sides and the top were covered in darkness.

However, that wasn’t what the group were looking at.

It was the 25 skeletons in front of them.

"This..." Tim shook as he saw it. And Luna bit her lips looking at the scene in front of her.

These skeletons were clearly different. Their eye sockets were black, they wore armors over their bones and their weapons were on flames. And unluckily for them, this time there were archers.

Two of them. And the rest held swords, sabers and spears. The only good news was that, the 25th skeleton was seated and not moving.

"Prepare..." Luna said as she gritted her teeth. In this battle, she couldn’t hold back her mana.

This time, Tim and Cathy took the back. Luna took the front. The situation became more dire for them because Cathy was the only battalion leader in their legion. The platoon leaders were only in the level 23-24 which wouldn’t really be helpful in this battle.

However, they still took their stance in the middle of the group. They would assist in any way they could.

The 24 skeletons were quite spread all over the dome, so Luna couldn’t just run around and lay traps like she did before.

Now they were in position, waiting for whose side to start the fight,

"I will keep them at bay, go all out." After saying that, Tim started continuously shooting out arrows.

BOOOOM

The arrows made countless explosions as they hit everywhere around the dome.

’Now,’ In the midst of the explosions, Luna disappeared.

Then like trained dancers, the skeletons split apart in two and jumped sideways.

As the skeletons were still in the air about to land, Luna appeared again, now closer to the skeletons, she said,

’Blizzard’

And with immediate effect, the closest skeletons froze up completely. But it didn’t stop there. It even froze another skeleton, but only the lower part of its body.

Immediately, Luna began to retreat back, not minding she couldn’t freeze the second one completely.

Grrr

The skeleton was struggling to break of the ice when,

BANG...

An arrow exploded in front of it and it fell.

"Nice." Tim praised Luna as she was retreating back to them. The reason, she was only satisfied with only one was because, that one was among the two archers.

And because she had used up a lot of mana to activate blizzard a second time today, her mana capacity was now less than half.
