Chapter 94: Camp crisis (VII)

’Now, the boss,’ Cynthia’s eyes narrowed as she looked at the skeleton who was getting up from its chair.

Maybe it was because she and Jenny had experienced this before, but they weren’t that nervous about it. And from the looks of it, it was maybe on the level as the tough beetles they fought.

"I don’t feel so nervous again," Jenny spoke honestly as she began to prepare her attacks to storm the skeleton.

"Yeah," Cynthia smiled lightly and turned back to the skeleton.

Now, the skeleton had stood fully. However, the normal darkness that was supposed to have been absorbed by it was still glowing.

Suddenly, it raised its hand, and the darkness approached him and formed something.

A black horse with green flaming eyes, it was more intense than the previous skeletons he had fought.

The skeleton then picked up its large sword beside the chair and went to the horse.

BANG...BANG....BOOOM

Without waiting for the skeleton to climb the back of the horse, Jenny stormed the skeleton with her first wave of weapons.

However,

NEEEEIIIGGHHH

With a scream, a greenish-transparent barrier appeared over the horse and the skeleton. And the attacks just sent ripples through the barrier before failing.

"D-Duhullan?" Ronald shouted in fear.

"What?" Cynthia snapped her head to him, her expression asking how he knew.

"H-Headless skeletons on a horse; a duhullan." He explained.

"But it isn’t headless," Cynthia turned her gaze back to the skeleton.

At this point, the barrier had gone down and the skeleton had gotten on the back of the horse. Suddenly, it ripped of its head and held the head on his empty hand.

"It...is really headless." Cynthia was shocked at the situation she was witnessing. This was clearly different from the one they fought previously.

"Well, we can’t wait anymore." Jenny understood the situation and there was nothing they could do about it. Jon wasn’t going to help them anytime soon, so they had to deal with it themselves.

"Right, this better be the end." As if her words kicked of the battle, the horse began running towards them,

The girls quickly glanced at themselves and shot forward. Cynthia immediately jumped to the sky and started forming massive balls of wind mixed with fire.

Jenny ran towards the horse with flaming sword, as she got closer she immediately dodged the incoming sword slash from the skeleton.

BOOOM

Raising herself back up, she unleashed a second wave on the duhullan.

KIEEEEE

This time the horse got hit, however the skeleton used its sword to block.

’Why didn’t it use the barrier,’ Jenny wondered as she retreated back. And then Cynthia threw the massive ball of wind and fire,

SHAAAAAAAAAAA

And not wanting to stop, she unleashed her third wave on the duhullan. However, the green barrier now came out and blocked the large scale attacks from the girls.

"So, it can’t use the barrier or what..." Cynthia landed back to the ground and moved close to Jenny. She was confused, if it could use the barrier, why block Jenny’s attack with a sword in the first place.

"It probably can’t use it every time." Jenny commented.

"T-Twenty..." a distant voice caught up to them.

Looking back again, it was Ronald shouting to them again. Receiving their attentions, he shouted again,

"Twenty seconds..."

"Uh?"

"Hm..."

The girls were shock by what they were hearing and didn’t need to be told more. It was obvious, the barrier needed twenty seconds to charge before it can block any attack.

Now they had figuring out the defense method of the duhullan, there was nothing stopping them. Since they didn’t know when the next time would be, they distancing themselves and shooting out long ranged attacks.

And true to what Ronald had said, the skeleton was blocking the attacks with its sword, while the horse just kept taking on the brunt of the attack. After a while of long ranged, they shot out massive attacks.

BOOOOOOM....BOOOOOM

The barrier was raised again.

’Now.’ Jenny ran full speed towards the duhullan even as the barrier was still up. Upon reaching it, she entered the settling explosions.

The skeleton though had seen her and was already slashing his sword towards that direction.

It was a that moment, ’Dash’ Jenny immediately appeared about a meter from where she was, narrowly missing the sword.

With her sword coated in flames and ’Horizontal slash’

KIEEEEEEEEEE

The horse screeched as the flaming sword passed through its body.

It was really strange. No matter what was done to the previous skeletons, they didn’t screech at all. However, this horse even though it was made from the darkness, it was like a normal monster that felt pain.

’Dark flaming tornado,’ Cynthia unleashed what could now be possibly called her signature not wanting to give the duhullan any time. And though she made the tornado smaller, it would devour two of the larger ones she used previously.

BOOOOOOOOOM

KIEEE...NIEGHHH

From the explosion, the sound coming from the horse became weaker and weaker until, they didn’t hear it again.

As the explosion cleared, they saw the skeleton now standing. He still never let the sword and helmet no matter what happened.

Looking at it now, it must have taken some form of damage. And confirming their thoughts,

"T-They get weaker as they lose more of their things, that’s why it never let go of the head and sword." Ronald shouted.

And as if the skeleton also heard him, it looked at his head. It wasn’t something that could be really described, a headless skeleton looking at its head.

Suddenly, it raised its head up and fitted it in the empty spot, and the eye sockets flashed like two black torches. Finally, it got into a stance with its sword.

"Now, it wants to fight properly..." Cynthia was really getting confused at the development of the duhullan. Shaking her head, she stepped forward with her scythe and swiped it forward,

’Wind slash’

BANG...

The skeletons deflected it without any stress and got back to its stance.

"Looks like its close combat." Jenny smiled a little and ran forward, with Cynthia following closely behind.

’Let’s see how-’ Jenny’s thoughts stopped as her sword hit the skeleton’s.

CLANG...

Her arm began rattling as the shock was sent through her arm.

’So that sword is stronger than mine...’ Without much thoughts to it, Jenny went in again. She didn’t actually mind her hands rattling. For a while now, her created swords hurt her when she fought with first realm monsters.

It was like her creations were not strong enough to withstand their power and the same went for the treasure from the cores. The best sword she had seen was only effective for under level 25, which was the sword Jon gave her and honestly she really didn’t fancy the remaining treasures on her.

And even with all that, she still moved on. Attacking the skeleton endlessly,

CLANG...CLANG...CLANG

Slowly but surely the scene became black against silver. And as they kept clashing, the intensity and power kept rising. At first they clashed with only swords, however now, the skeleton was using the darkness and Jenny was using her flames.

’Urghh...’ Jenny gritted her teeth as she kept getting pushed back by the skeleton. Cuts began appearing all over her body as she kept struggling and then suddenly the sword came from the right diagonally.

’I can’t block that.’ Jenny was already recovering from the shock of an attack and that attack was coming her way.

However,

CLANG...

"You can’t forget about me now..." Cynthia blocked with her scythe. Though she sounded confident and all, she really wasn’t.

All the while, Jenny had been getting pushed back, she had been appearing in between attacking, blocking and even throwing long attacks, and the skeleton blocked everything.

However, she didn’t show worry. It was because she hadn’t shown everything she had. So after blocking the attack, she retreated about five paces with Jenny.

Then she activated her temporary base. It gave a boost to their attacks and defense, she didn’t stop there, she made ten small but concentrated dark flaming tornadoes and placed them around her.

"Let’s go again." Cynthia said again with a serious voice and moved.

Immediately she disappeared, her tornadoes moved with her, and reaching the skeleton, which was already swinging. It’s reaction speed was really at an insane level. It had reacted to everything they had done.

But this time it would be different, with her hairpin and telekinesis active, she was at her strongest.

Placing her empty hand on the her scythe, she muttered, ’Wind repulsion’

And through to the name, the wind repulsed everything around the surrounding. And the sword that had been descending was now raised wide high and up, leaving its body unprotected.

Without missing a bit, she threw one of the tornadoes at its body,

BOOOOOOOM

Its body finally retreated for the first time since the fight. The skeletons glared at Cynthia and rushed to attack her, however Cynthia was in her zone, and she wouldn’t let her zone end like that.

As the zombie was rushing to her front, she gathered wind to the tip of her scythe and swung, however that was a faint, the real attack was another tornado that had already gotten behind the skeleton.

And the skeleton was already too late because,

CLANG...

It was deflecting her wind when the tornado came bursting,

BOOOOOOOOOOOM
