Later, He Became A Royal Healer-Chapter 70 - Really unlucky.
Chapter 70 - Really unlucky.
Halfway through LHBARH!
You Liangxing knew nothing of Kang Shengzhe’s inner thoughts. After they settled the bill, they got on the car at the entrance of the stall.
Before the two went their separate ways, You Liangxing did not say much to the two-meter-tall man. While the latter of them seemed slightly drunk given how red his face was, the former scarcely had a change in complexion and he looked cold and cheerless.
They were two men; with their common relationship, they had no reason to be reluctant when they bid each other farewell.
As the lights of the city flickered into activity with the beckoning of evening, the lights and shadows intermingled. It was only when You Liangxing’s Didi arrived that Kang Shengzhe opened to mouth to say the first line, and also the last line of that evening.
He said, “See you next time.”
You Liangxing gave him a faint hum as a response which was not the most courteous. When the car arrived to pick him up, he got on and the car quickly left, following the traffic flow. Only then did You Liangxing turn his head to glance over his shoulder.
From a distance, he observed that Kang Shengzhe was still standing by the roadside and his tall stature slowly disappeared from his sight. However, before it disappeared, he was constantly staring in You Liangxing’s direction and he did not leave.
Turning back around, You Liangxing sighed. For some unknown reason, he felt slightly disappointed.
This was the end of their meeting, next time…
For You Liangxing, the aforementioned ‘next time’ could be considered near, but when he said it was far, it was far too.
While the dialogue had left Kang Shengzhe at a loss, he had already figured out Kang Shengzhe’s exact coordinates.
A native of City A, entering A University in the beginning of September – the coincidence was not easy to ignore. Unexpectedly, they were in the same city, and soon, they were going to attend the same university.
When confronted with such a miraculous coincidence, even a person like You Liangxing would be a little dazed upon knowing.
During the instant where he lowered his head, the clues he had previously noticed over the course of their chats had interwoven together and it made his heart tremble for a good while. They might have met online but they happened to be in the same city and a long sigh could not adequately express You Liangxing’s state of mind,.
No matter what was said, being in the same city meant that meeting each other would not be a difficult ordeal. Furthermore, You Liangxing’s classes would start in September, and as the President of the Student Union, he had to guide the freshmen through various activities. There was no need to even mention whether he wanted to meet or not; even if he wanted to hide, there was no possibility of success.
You Liangxing could not help but be curious as to what kind of reaction Kang Shengzhe would display when he saw him later. Since he harboured such thoughts, he had omitted the fact that he was from A University from Kang Shengzhe on purpose.
He was clear about Kang Shengzhe’s information while the other party was not, and with the information advantage he had, the gained upper hand made You Liangxing feel pretty good.
You Liangxing’s thoughts went down another tangent. Recalling the worried appearance Kang Shengzhe had regarding the next meeting by accident, he felt like it was somewhat funny in the moment. Just then, his WeChat rang with a message that Liao Su sent.
[It’s Liao Su Not Plastic]: — Brother Liang! I remembered! I finally remembered it!
You Liangxing replied: — What?
[It’s Liao Su Not Plastic]: — Where I met KK! I really met him before, and so did you!
[It’s Liao Su Not Plastic]: — Not long ago at the entrance of the Liberal Arts College in the university, that two-meter-tall long-haired beautiful man, that was KK!
[It’s Liao Su Not Plastic]: — Holy shit! KK won’t really be in the same university as us, right?!
You Liangxing put down his phone. The matter of KK entering the same university as him no longer brought him any feelings of surprise. He looked outside the window and he mused about what Liao Su had said that day, and the gazes they had exchanged from the distance.
Turns out, they had met long ago…. The world actually had so many coincidences.
On the way back, his train of thought did not falter and when he returned to his hotel, he did not retire for the night since it was early. Like KK, he was going to return to A City tomorrow and his airplane ticket was already booked. Come early morn, he had a flight to catch.
One night passed quietly and peacefully. The next morning, You Liangxing woke up early and rushed to the topic. Last night, he hadn’t asked Kang Shengzhe how he was returning to City A, and he had only remembered that fact during the idle and quiet time he had while waiting for his flight after he had received his boarding pass and went through the security check.
It should not be coincidental to the point where he and Kang Shengzhe were catching the same flight, right?
After the idea emerged, You Liangxing’s heart jolted. He surveyed the entire waiting area from left to right. It was only when he confirmed that there was not a shadow of that tall man that he managed to heave a sigh of relief.
To be honest, he did not want to meet Kang Shengzhe again so soon.
Whereas if he were to chance upon Kang Shengzhe ‘by accident’ when school reopened, now that was more entertaining, and it was rare for You Liangxing to want to crack such a joke.
While he was thinking, the plane landed and a long queue started forming in front of the departure gate. You Liangxing followed the flow of human traffic to check his boarding pass and boarded the car that would be taking them to plane. Despite being on the bus for a while, the vehicle had yet to move.
Someone in the crowd complained, “Why haven’t we left yet?”
“Someone probably hasn’t arrived yet.”
Rather than paying attention to their words, You Liangxing chose to observe the spacious airfield instead. And amidst his wandering thoughts, he heard the airport public announcement system broadcast a message to the entire airport.
“Passenger Kang Shengzhe please take note, if you hear this broadcast, please rush to the Departure Gate XX to board the plane…”
Sure enough, someone was late.
You Liangxing glanced at the time. Being late when going on a journey at six in the morning was commonplace.
In a few minute’s work, someone rushed from the boarding gate to get on the bus. Once everyone was accounted for, the car finally moved. Since You Liangxing sat near the exit, he got off the vehicle first when they reached the plane.
The boarding process was extremely smooth; since he was at the front of the line, his seat was in the front row and near the window. After he had stowed away his carry on, You Liangxing fastened his seatbelt and closed his eyes. The flight towards City A took an hour, and it was ideal for taking a short rest.
He hadn’t closed his eyes for long when a succession of light sounds was made near his seat. Someone had arrived, and according to normal procedures, the person should be putting away their luggage, and even if they did not have a luggage, they had to make themselves comfortable after sitting down.
However, the person seemed to make no movements at all, nor did they make a sound.
You Liangxing felt like something was amiss but he did not open his eyes. After a long stretch of silence and tranquillity, You Liangxing felt his drowsiness overtake him and he was about to doze off when he felt a sudden cold sensation on his cheek.
It took You Liangxing two seconds to realise that the person had used their fingers to poke his face. Just as his bafflement filled his head and caused him to blank out slightly, a particularly familiar laughter, charged with momentary giddiness and a strange intonation travelled to his ears.
“Hehehehehehehe~”
That laugh was as shocking as a sudden clap of thunder; You Liangxing’s eyes jerked open and tilted his head. The familiar and beautiful face of a man he had met last night was right before his eyes, and his height was no less than two meters.
That man’s face was still rosy but it was not induced by intoxication. Rather, it was because of excitement.
Seeing that You Liangxing had opened his eyes, Kang Shengzhe smiled so wide such that his eyes and brows curved. He said: “Liang Liang~ Say, could this be fate~”
You Liangxing: “……”
No, this was not fate.
It was because both of them had bought tickets that were sold at a discounted price.
Truthfully speaking, why did a popular anchor have to be so economical?
He was really unlucky.
The author has something to say: In the boundless and indistinct skies, what seemed to be pulling them together, and whose powers happen to be so great?
It’s me. (An old mother slowly revealed a dog-face smile.)
