Legendary Traveler: By Earning Progress Points I will Become Supreme!-Chapter 176 : Homecoming (1)
To say the sudden transformation from casual to overbearing was Jarring for Aoni would be an understatement; the dramatic shift in not only body posture and mood but also the slight aura rolling off the young man standing a few feet away from Aoni painted a picture of Arrogance unbefitting Damien, at least in his eyes.
"Aoni, I'm glad I met you, and I hope we can be friends for a long time; unfortunately, for now, I have to deal with some annoying family bullshit, so this is so long." Damien's voice came out prim and proper, with a strange edge to it, causing Aoni to take a single step away from him.
"Same here, Damien. I don't know what kind of trouble you are in, but if you need help, you have my contact info." Speaking while placing distance between them, because that's what he felt Damien wanted for some reason, Aoni nodded and pulled up the app on his Commu to get a ride.
Although it may seem the lad was immersed in playing with his smartwatch, Aoni was fully paying attention to the expensive limousine as it pulled up in front of Damien, and an older man wearing a tailored suit and hat padded around to the back passenger side door and opened it.
"Young Master Damien, your father has arranged for me to pick you up and is waiting in his study for a full report upon your return."
Silently and not paying attention to the driver, Damien cast a side glance at Aoni before disappearing into the limo and slamming the door shut.
Leaving the driver stunned for a moment before he hurried around back to the driver's side and drove off.
"That was odd." For a few moments, Aoni stood there and watched the limo's taillights fade into the distance until his Commu vibrated, indicating that a ride had been arranged.
Dropping his arm, looking to the sky, and inhaling deeply through his nose, Aoni ran through every interaction he'd had with his new friend during the day, and it wasn't difficult to understand the version of Damien he'd come to know was probably the real one. In contrast, the version just revealed was a façade created similar to his loaner persona.
'Hes got it rough,' he thought before hearing hurried footsteps behind him and narrowly jumping to the side as a blur of movement raced past and…faceplanted onto the sidewalk.
"AHhh! Noooo!" the scream of a young girl was soon accompanied by the fluttering of papers as the stack she was clutching to her chest shot into the air.
"Oh? If it isn't hamster girl, well, looks like you made quite a mess…" with a flash of movement, Aoni didn't hesitate to capture all the papers floating toward the ground, stacking them back up and offering a hand to the crumpled in a ball girl he'd given a snack to earlier in the afternoon.
"eep, it's you," tilting her face up and exposing her teary eyes to Aoni, Madison hesitated for only a second before taking the outstretched hand offered to her and standing up.
Next, she smoothed out her pencil skirt and blouse before recognizing the young man standing there holding a stack of papers with a teasing smile on his face.
Taking notice that she was physically unharmed, Aoni quickly handed the papers over and offered Madison a smile before going back to playing with his Commu and ignoring the girl.
"Th…thank you," unable to register what had happened as it had been too fast, Madison looked down at the stack of papers in her arms, then up at Aoni and suddenly remembered she was in a rush, so after chirping out a quick thanks, she bolted off down the sidewalk without looking back a second time.
'That girl, she really is as careless as Glacia; it's quite funny,' shaking his head a bit to resettle his bangs over his eyes, Aoni leaned against the Bureau headquarters wall and waited around 10 minutes before a fancy car pulled up with his name on a plaque in the back window.
Pushing off the wall, he was soon in the backseat of the rather expensive vehicle, and his 45-minute drive began.

Since it was rather late into the evening, the driver wasn't too chatty, and with no traffic on the highways, the trip was smooth sailing.
---
At nearly midnight, the electric vehicle casually pulled up to the curb outside of Aoni's house, and after making sure the driver was paid by tapping his Commu against a tablet in the backseat, Aoni got out of the car only to realize that all the lights were still on in his 2-Story home.
'Great, everyone is probably still awake; I sent a message to Mom that she and Dad could go to bed, but it seems they ignored me,' Massaging his temples and walking up the familiar sidewalk leading to the front door, Aoni was about to knock when the door suddenly swung open, and a small body flung itself at him while squealing.
"BIG BRODDER, YOU'RE HOME!" the little girl no older than 6 years old cheered happily as Aoni easily caught her and spun around, much to the little girl's enjoyment.
"Cammy, what the heck are you still doing up?" He asked with a smile as he pulled his sister to his hip and held her like a child on his side while looking up and seeing the half-worried, half-relieved faces of his parents standing in the doorway.
"Welcome home, son," His dad, Jason Thurston, stated in a rumbling voice, fitting his fit visage perfectly. The man stood just a little over six feet tall, with the same shaggy Ash-blond hair as Aoni.
His face and exposed arms were a collage of mismatched scars that added to the rough picture painting the man's adventures in Genovia.
As it turns out, each of these jagged and rough scars had a story that had been told time and time again throughout Aoni's childhood as a means of helping him and his siblings understand the dangers brought about by living the life of a Traveler.
Beside Jason was the woman Aoni called Mom, Lea Thurston; as a mundane, she, of course, didn't have any of the telltale physical appearances as a Traveler would; still, even with her status, she was a pretty lady who radiated motherly affection.
