Chapter 132: Chapter 133 What do you like?

He spoke with the tone of someone superior, and the clerk instinctively looked around, then came over holding a bouquet: "This is ninety-nine roses, symbolizing a long-lasting love. When your wife sees it, she’ll surely understand your heartfelt intentions."

Brandan looked at the bouquet of roses.

Symbolizing a long-lasting love?

He never really studied roses; when he used to give them to Viola Harris, he always had his assistant order and send them directly. This was his first time actually buying roses to give to a woman.

Brandan took the bouquet, nodded: "Let’s go with this one then."

After paying, Brandan carried the roses to the car. He turned his head to look at the roses on the passenger seat, wondering if Iris Harris would understand his heartfelt intentions.

He wasn’t even sure if she liked roses.

Yet despite this, he couldn’t help but anticipate Iris Harris’s reaction when she saw the roses.

Would she be happy, or would she be upset?

He felt a bit of anticipation, yet also some nervousness, like a young boy writing a love letter to give to the girl he loved — that feeling like butterflies fluttering in his heart. 𝕗𝚛𝚎𝚎𝐰𝗲𝗯𝗻𝚘𝚟𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝕞

When he returned to the Hyde Residence, the hall was already dark. He carried the roses straight upstairs and, standing at Iris’s room door, hesitated a moment before finally pushing the door open and entering.

Iris had just finished showering and was sitting on the sofa blow-drying her hair. Upon hearing the door open, and seeing it was him, she withdrew her gaze.

Her cold demeanor was utterly disheartening.

Brandan, holding the roses, thought for a moment before walking over to give them to her: "Here."

Iris looked at the bouquet of roses, perplexed, and frowned: "What’s this?"

"You don’t want it?"

"This kind of thing shouldn’t be given to me, right?" Iris couldn’t help saying, "Do you know the meaning of roses?"

"..."

Brandan looked at her, feeling like he was a fool earlier in the garden picking out roses.

She clearly still didn’t believe he liked her, what symbolized a long-lasting love, she simply didn’t understand his feelings.

"Is it that Viola Harris didn’t want them?" Iris speculated, asking, otherwise he wouldn’t have given them to her.

"..." Brandan felt frustrated, "I bought them personally for you!"

Iris laughed: "Then you should still give them to Viola."

"Iris!" Brandan was somewhat angry.

He disliked how she always brought up Viola Harris.

"I think she’s more suited to receive them than I am."

Iris still smiled, her dark eyes looking at him, cold and without a hint of joy.

Looking into her eyes, Brandan couldn’t help but recall that incident, suddenly feeling utterly defeated.

It’s useless, he thought, no matter how he tried to make amends, it didn’t work.

The incident that day was a thorn, not only piercing Iris’s heart but also his own.

She couldn’t forget, and neither could he.

No ******** could erase the shadow cast by that day.

A chill slowly seeped into Brandan’s heart, and he turned, throwing the bouquet of roses into the trash can.

If Iris didn’t want them, then they had no value.

Iris watched Brandan’s actions, remaining indifferent, blowing her hair with the dryer without expression.

Brandan stood before her and asked, "What do you like?"

"I like it when you’re far away from me."

"Must you speak to me like this?"

Brandan couldn’t hold back his temper.

Why couldn’t she sit down and have a sincere conversation with him now?
