Love Command: Darling, Do You Yield?-Chapter 149 - 150 Her Biggest Mistake
Doctor Lester was a man in his forties. Upon seeing Brandan and Lady Hyde enter, he respectfully stood up and invited them to sit down.
"Doctor, what illness does our Iris have?"
As soon as they entered, Lady Hyde hurriedly asked.
Doctor Lester handed the medical report to Brandan and Lady Hyde. After pondering for a moment about his tone, he said, "...The preliminary diagnosis is acute leukemia."
"Leukemia?"
The word ’leukemia’ was not unfamiliar to Brandan and Lady Hyde.
"How could Iris have leukemia?" Lady Hyde trembled as she picked up the report, staring blankly at the words, "No way... She just donated bone marrow to Brandan not long ago, how could it be now..."
"What exactly is going on?"
Brandan asked suddenly.
His dark eyes fell on the doctor’s face, seemingly containing something.
Doctor Lester hesitated for a moment, then said, "Has Miss Harris recently come into contact with something?"
"What?" Lady Hyde was taken aback.
"We detected traces of radioactive elements in her body. It’s very likely that those elements triggered a severe cancerous change in Miss Harris’ cells, which developed into acute leukemia. What specific radioactive material it is, we have yet to accurately determine; it will take some time."
That one sentence plunged Lady Hyde and Brandan into silence.
Lady Hyde’s hand holding the medical report began to tremble slowly.
Radioactive material?
Severe cancerous change? 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝙬𝙚𝓫𝒏𝓸𝓿𝓮𝒍.𝓬𝙤𝓶
She instinctively looked at her son. Brandan, like her, was slightly stunned, his face expressionless and unclear.
"Doctor Lester, something’s wrong!"
Outside, a nurse suddenly rushed in, and seeing Lady Hyde and the others in the office, she paused in surprise.
"What happened?" Doctor Lester frowned, very displeased with the nurse’s yelling.
"Well..." the nurse cautiously said, "Miss Harris, who we took for a check-up just now, is missing. I took her to get an ultrasound, she said she needed to use the restroom, I waited for her, but she didn’t return for a long time. The cleaning lady in the restroom said she didn’t see her go in..."
Brandan’s face immediately darkened. He pursed his lips slightly, turned, and walked out the door. He took out his phone and made a call to the city’s people, asking them to closely monitor the information of people going to various cities.
While waiting for news, Brandan lit a cigarette. Standing by the window, he looked up at the sky. The weather was good, the sun poured down warmly, making people feel warm.
Yet he felt very cold, his heartbeat seemed to have slowed significantly, and Brandan closed his eyes, suddenly feeling a tinge of despair.
He once thought he had brought her back, intact, and as long as she stayed by his side, they would eventually reconcile.
But that wasn’t the case.
It turned out that when he let go of her that day, he had already lost her.
He thought everything was over, but it wasn’t. The mistake he made that day with his own hands would haunt him like a nightmare for the rest of his life.
How ridiculous.
His past arrogance, now requiring Iris Harris’s life to atone.
But how innocent she was? What had she done wrong?
Her greatest mistake was nothing other than...
Falling in love with him.
