Love Command: Darling, Do You Yield?-Chapter 174: Why not see her? 1
"Brandan..."
A voice sounded from not far away. Brandan Hyde looked up and saw his mother standing not far away, looking at him worriedly.
He rubbed his temples and asked, "When will she probably wake up?"
"The doctor said she should wake up in about three to five days."
Lady Hyde walked over, looking at Brandan’s haggard face with distress, "Brandan, you just vomited blood; you should stop moving around. Take a few days to rest, and when Iris wakes up, I’ll call you."
Brandan silently shook his head.
"Right now..." He sighed, "Where is there time to rest? I need to find a matching bone marrow for her... I don’t believe that heaven would treat her like this, refusing her a chance to live."
"You’re going out now?" Lady Hyde was startled, "You can’t! You’re sick yourself!"
The scene of Brandan vomiting blood last night was still vivid in her memory; how could Lady Hyde bear to let him leave the hospital?
Brandan looked up at his mother’s bloodshot eyes and said, "Mom, you didn’t sleep last night, did you? Go rest."
"Brandan..."
Lady Hyde knew Brandan wouldn’t listen to her. She looked at him worriedly, "Mom only has you now... If something happens to you, I really won’t be able to go on."
Upon hearing this, Brandan raised his hand and gently patted Lady Hyde on the shoulder, "I won’t let it happen."
Finishing this calmly, he turned and walked away.
Lady Hyde watched his back, unable to help herself from taking a few steps after him, then slowly stopped and blankly watched him leave.
There was nothing she could do; she couldn’t stop Brandan Hyde. Once he decided on something, there was no room for retreat.
So she could only feel heartache and self-blame as she watched him resolutely leave the hospital.
Thinking of this, Lady Hyde couldn’t help but look at Iris Harris lying in the hospital bed.
"Iris..."
She thought that maybe they were the same kind of people.
Equally stubborn, equally willful, once they set their minds on something, they never knew how to retreat, they wouldn’t stop until they hit a wall.
Looking at the severely ill Iris Harris lying in the hospital bed, she thought of Brandan and couldn’t help but feel a burst of fear.
What if, in the end... she couldn’t even save this child?
This ill-fated connection started with her, yet she didn’t know how to sever it.
***************************
During the time Iris Harris was unconscious, Brandan Hyde hadn’t come to visit her.
His network of contacts was vast, spread across the world, yet even after wave after wave of funding was deployed recently, no good news had ever come back.
Bone marrow matches are easier among relatives, but Iris Harris is an orphan, and events from 23 years ago, even for him, were impossible to trace.
With his abilities, if he found matching bone marrow, even if the person was unwilling, he would bring them to the surgery room by any means necessary.
Yet not even such an opportunity was afforded to him.
None.
Another three days passed.
Still no news.
Lady Hyde called to tell him that Iris Harris had woken up and her vital signs were good.
Brandan acknowledged it, asked his mother to accompany her well, then hung up the phone.
Actually, he didn’t know how to face her.
He didn’t know in what capacity he should see her.
After knowing that truth, how could he listen indifferently to her calling him Brandan?
He would be sad too.
The name she had been calling for ten years wasn’t actually his.
He wasn’t the one she was waiting for.
But he loved her.
Brandan sighed softly, placed the phone on his desk, and lit a cigarette, taking a puff.
"Boss Hyde," someone gently knocked on the door, "there’s a guest... wants to see you."
The secretary’s tone sounded somewhat hesitant.
