Loving The Cursed Werewolf King-Chapter 742: The Impossible Things
"That’s probably just a hunch, considering it’s your first time seeing the sea, right?"
Arielle nodded in agreement.
Then, she released a bit of her power to warm Ronan’s body. The man’s hand felt freezing cold when she held it. Ronan took off his mask and placed it on the snow. He also looked to the end of the horizon where a little ray of sun had peeked.
"So we will move again after we get news from Princess Zohra?" asked Arielle.
Ronan nodded. "Right. Let’s see how we get to Thebis."
"Thebis... I wonder what kind of place Thebis is. According to Duke Pellington, he bought Mirabelle, my mother, while he was visiting Thebis and brought her back to Nieverdell with him."
"You don’t want to visit Mirabelle’s grave?"
Ronan knew this question was too late to be asking for. Archie had sent a letter regarding the location of Mirabelle’s grave. It was located in King Hugo’s private manor on the border of Thebis, near Duke Pellington’s manor.
Archie wanted to invite Arielle to visit the manor because there were many things related to the girl’s late mother that were never shown in the palace before. However, Arielle was still not ready. She was curious, but the fear and anxiety were much greater. 𝚏𝕣𝕖𝚎𝚠𝚎𝚋𝚗𝐨𝐯𝕖𝕝.𝕔𝐨𝕞
"I don’t know, maybe when all of this is over," Arielle answered dejectedly.
Ronan looked up at the gray sky above them.
"Arielle, I don’t mean to make you feel desperate at all, but... if our efforts hit a dead end... Will you be okay?"
Arielle turned to Ronan. She didn’t understand her husband’s question just now. Why should she feel desperate? They had done a lot. One of them was severing the curse from Amadea from the descendants of the king. Wasn’t that already something they should be grateful for?
Arielle really wanted to bring back spring to Northendell. The people of Northendell had been through a lot, and the cold had gotten more extreme at the moment. It was getting harder and harder for people to survive the cold.
Arielle didn’t stop this curse for her own satisfaction. She did this for all people in Norththendell. So, if she failed to bring back the sun to Northendell, Arielle would be disappointed not because she failed, but because she couldn’t help the people who had put high hopes on her.
Ronan could read his wife’s thoughts. He felt guilty for asking such a terrible question.
"But whatever it is, we’ve tried our best, haven’t we? Even if we fail, at least we have gathered a lot of information to help the next generation to continue our journey."
Arielle smiled again. She had said the exact same thing to Grandmother Bertha.
"You know, Ronan, as long as you’re by my side, I feel that anything that’s impossible can magically be possible."
Ronan raised his eyebrows in surprise. "Well? Do you think of me like a magician?" he asked while nudging Arielle’s shoulder, making the girl chuckle.
"No... not like that. What I mean is... you gave me a lot of things that I never imagined I would have. In the past, when I was in Nierverdell... I just thought maybe I would become a street painter. I also didn’t mind if my father married me to a farmer from the countryside. I would be very satisfied if I could learn to read to sell my paintings in the market. I didn’t think I would be in this position at all. You gave me a crown that I never dared to touch before.
"Back then, I just thought that I didn’t mind if I got kicked out of the palace. I could work as a maid in someone’s house. I also had the intention of running away and starting a new life in a village far away from the palace if my father married me to someone who had a violent nature. However, you came and let me meet a lot of people who love me wholeheartedly.
"So I thought I also want to give you something that you never thought of before."
"And you already did it," Ronan replied with a laugh.
"You managed to put an end to this curse. Now I can sleep soundly without worrying about the full moon coming. I can also feel a love that I’ve never felt before... You’ve done it, Arielle, and that’s what makes me love you even more," Ronan replied, making Arielle’s cheeks tint with red hues.
At first, Arielle planned to make Ronan blush with her words, but instead, the man was the one who did it.
"How about we go back to prepare lunch together?"
"Having lunch together?" Ronan asked with one of his brow arched up.
"Yeah, we’ll cook together before Irene and the others come back. I will teach you how to cook."
"I know how to cook."
Arielle stared at Ronan in disbelief.
"I mean, when I have to hunt for a few days outside, Kael always makes food in the middle of the forest, and I take a good look at it. Everything is already here," Ronan answered while pointing to his head.
Arielle stood up and pulled her husband’s hand to stand up quickly.
"Let’s hurry ... Before the others return from their walks," said an impatient Arielle.
"Alright, alright... I understand. Don’t pull too hard or you’ll fall."
Ronan held Arielle’s hand and stood up, following his wife’s request. He helped Arielle to get on her horse again before he got on his own horse. They returned while taking a detour and rode at a steady pace. It wasn’t too fast or too slow because Arielle just learned to ride a horse today.
The two of them made it out of the forest and back to the main road connecting the naval base to the port city. Arielle focused on riding the horse while her gaze faced forward. A few meters ahead of them, there was a man in a light coat walking from the opposite direction, pulling his cart with one hand.
Arielle couldn’t see his face because the man was wearing a hood. The man stopped for a moment as the two horses passed him.
He turned around to see Arielle’s back as well as the girl’s husband moving away. He really couldn’t believe what he just saw. ’What a frightening coincidence,’ he thought. He turned around again to return to the city immediately.
Ronan sensed that the man they had passed earlier was looking in their direction. He turned his head to see the man who was pulling the cart with one arm and already walking away in the opposite direction.
For some reason, Ronan became anxious. It was as if a strange premonition had enveloped him. However, he immediately forgot what he felt when they arrived at the gate of the headquarters of the Marine troops. Arielle and Ronan arrived just as several groups were shifting on duty.
Arielle could see the troops walking upright, reporting to their superiors and changing the shifts. Some took off his hat while the others accepted new tasks and returned to the post to change guard.
Just as Ronan and Arielle arrived, those people turned around to salute as they had done this morning. After that, the two of them returned home to rest for a moment before preparing lunch together for the others.
