Loving The Cursed Werewolf King-Chapter 748: A Warning From The Mysterious Old Man
"What for?" asked Arielle warily.
Kael still stood between the man and Queen Arielle. He didn’t want the queen to get into trouble. Then, he reminded the seller again to calculate the amount of money that needed to be paid.
"You don’t need to pay me. Just let me look into your eyes for three seconds," said the man stubbornly. 𝑓𝑟𝑒𝘦𝓌𝑒𝑏𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝘭.𝒸𝘰𝑚
Arielle found this too strange. Why did the man want to look into her eyes? She then told Kael to step aside for a while.
"Tell me why do you want to look into my eyes? And what will you do if I give your permission?" asked Arielle firmly.
"Um... a present? I don’t know, I feel that... you are a special person, and perhaps I will give you a gift that you never expected in the future."
Arielle had been through a lot. Things like this riddle made her try to understand it carefully. Did this have something to do with her being a descendant of the Moon Goddess, or was the old man just a prankster who wanted to see women’s faces?
Arielle touched the tip of her hood. Just three seconds. Nothing wouldn’t lead into anything, right? After all, there was Kael with her, as well as two guards at the entrance to the shop.
"Okay. Just three seconds."
Arielle raised her hood a bit. The two stared at each other for a few moments.
"Three seconds are over," said Kael, placing his hand in front of Queen Arielle’s face.
"Na... thank you."
"What for?" asked Arielle confusedly.
"To let me see a beautiful sight in Northendell."
The man turned around and took some blank canvases with him. "You don’t have to pay for that, and I hope I can deliver my gift on time."
"Sir?"
"I will be very busy for the next few days or even months, so hurry up and go."
Arielle asked Kael if they were kicked out, and the man just nodded. Then, he invited the queen to return to the naval base. They had stayed in this shop too long.
Arielle and Kael left the shop door, but the old man called back while flipping the notice board hanging on the door to ’CLOSED’.
"And I suggest that you take a detour. Don’t stop by other shops!" said the old man firmly, making Arielle confused.
When Arielle asked what the man meant, the shop door had been closed and locked from the inside. She asked Kael what the old man meant, but Kael also didn’t have the slightest idea about the painting seller’s strange words earlier.
"Okay, perhaps that man is just a prankster. Then, let’s go find Aimee’s present for you," Arielle asked, rushing towards the row of shops near the main square.
"Your Majesty, but the old man said that we should be careful."
Arielle also felt that the man wasn’t just talking nonsense. However, she also couldn’t rule out the possibility that the man could just be boasting nonsense.
"What about shoes? While at the palace, one of Aimee’s favorite shoes is damaged. How about you give her some new shoes?"
"Would Aimee like it?" Kael asked doubtfully. He wasn’t sure whether shoes were a birthday present that an older brother should give to his younger sister.
"Of course. Aimee will love all the presents you will give, Lord Kael," Arielle said excitedly.
The four of them walked back towards their new destination. It was a shoe shop. Kael, who was accompanied by Queen Arielle, was looking for a type of shoe that was comfortable enough for her sister. When Kael asked Queen Arielle what kind of shoes Aimee wanted the most right now, Arielle just smiled while saying Aimee’s shoe size without any further explanation.
Arielle then added, "Just think about Aimee and think for yourself what shoes are the most suitable for her."
Kael needed more time to think. He was contemplating whether he should buy Aimee luxurious shoes for a party or shoes that could be used on her everyday activities.
Kael wanted Aimee to remember him. He also wanted her to know that he, as an older brother, would continue to protect her anytime. Then, Kael’s gaze locked on a simple yet elegant pair of shoes without heels and touched the shoe material carefully .
It was comfortable, light, but also firm when Kael squeezed it tighter. The shoes also didn’t look too simple, like the shoes the maids wore.
"Those are shoes that noblewomen usually wear for their daily activities. The thick material will provide warmth, but it won’t make their feet feel tight. It is a favorite of the noble ladies for strolling. Because the materials are of high quality, these shoes will be very durable for various types of activities," said the salesperson near the shop window.
"That is a beautiful pair of shoes," said Arielle, helping Kael to be more sure of his choice.
Kael, without looking at the other shoes, immediately paid for the one he chose. Both of them then returned with a feeling of satisfaction. Now, they had to hurry back because it was possible that Ronan’s meeting was over.
The man could have been rummaging through the naval base if he didn’t find Arielle nearby.
When Arielle, Kael, and the guards walked back to their horses, an old woman tugged at Arielle’s coat.
"Your Majesty the Queen?" the old woman called.
Arielle was surprised because she felt that she hadn’t lowered her hood. Kael grabbed the old woman’s hand and forced her to get away from Queen Arielle.
"Lord Kael, be careful," said Arielle who didn’t like seeing Kael dragged the old woman quite roughly. It would hurt the old woman before her.
"I’m sorry, Granny. Maybe you saw it wrong..."
"No, you are Queen of Northendell! I am sure of it! I saw you at the coronation! Your Majesty!"
The woman screamed hysterically and knelt in front of Arielle’s feet, making her perplexed. The hustle and bustle of the harbor square didn’t help at all. Now, they looked at Arielle while whispering.
"Granny.. please, get up.."
