Chapter 115: Chapter 115

She hesitated for a moment and asked, "Are you sure you can handle it?"

"What do you mean, Madam?" Arthur was confused. "Did I do something to make you hesitant?"

"No, you didn’t," Winter replied. "I’m just worried that you might get hurt because of her. Camilla is a very scheming woman."

"I think I will do just fine, Madam. I’ve been involved in plenty of espionage operations when I was in the military," Arthur assured. "A woman like Camilla should be a piece of cake for me."

Winter wanted to say yes, but she was so scared of losing him. After all, Arthur was the only one who genuinely cared for her well-being. He had always been loyal to her, both in her previous life and in this life.

Winter was overridden by the fear of the unknown, and Arthur sensed it.

"Is there any reason why you don’t trust me, Madam?"

"I’m just scared of losing you, Arthur," Winter replied honestly. "You are the only one I can trust."

Arthur’s heartbeat started racing as he knew that his Madam was telling the truth. Honestly, if he was allowed to wish for more, he wanted to be the only man in Madam’s life. He wanted to protect her with all he had.

Unfortunately, he had no qualification to do so other than using his body as a bodyguard.

He had resigned to that fate, so he wished that his Madam would at least honour his dedication.

"I will be your tool, Madam. I promise to bring you good results," Arthur assured, and Winter finally gave him permission.

"Just make sure to fall back and cut contact with Camilla as soon as you smell something fishy. Your safety is the most important for me."

"Understood, Madam."

Winter leaned on the seat, she stared at the busy street and her mind wandered towards Sebastian again.

She had been working to dismantle Camilla’s power without telling Sebastian about it, and she was unsure if Sebastian would be on her side right now.

He had been acting very differently from that bastard in the previous timeline, which in turn, made Winter begin separating this Sebastian and that bastard Sebastian who ruined her life.

’If the current Sebastian doesn’t hate me. Does that mean I can ask for his aid?’ Winter pondered. She had been hesitant about this for a while as well, but in the end, decided to keep it to herself for now. ’Sebastian is busy working with Lucien LeBlanc. It’s not the right time to tell him everything.’

Thus, Winter returned to her penthouse and began preparing dinner for a family of two.

Meanwhile, Sebastian was extremely busy with the multi-million dollar deal with Lucien LeBlanc that he had to work until late at night.

It was almost midnight when he returned to the penthouse.

"I’m home, love," Sebastian said as he tossed his briefcase on the sofa and loosened his tie. He looked around and realized that Winter was nowhere to be found, so he assumed that she was in her room right now.

"Ah, well, I guess a can of beer should be fine, right?" Sebastian murmured as he went to the kitchen to grab one, only to find a note on the fridge.

Your food is in the fridge. You can reheat it.

-Winter.

Sebastian smiled, and he reheated the food that Winter cooked for him. He ate his late dinner, and then walked to the sofa and turned on the TV, but it was only for the white noise as he popped the can and started sipping the bear.

As he took his first sip, his phone rang and his eyes brightened when he saw the number. It was none other than his informant who had been investigating all of Camilla’s crimes so far.

Meanwhile, Winter woke up from her light sleep when she heard the TV was turned on, so she knew Sebastian must’ve been done with work.

Winter wanted to close her eyes and fall into the dreamland once more, but she also felt a little guilty. After all, Sebastian was working his ass off just so the cooperation between their company and Lucien’s would be a success, so the least she could do was to check on him.

Thus, she got up from the bed and then opened the door slightly. She saw Sebastian sitting on the sofa with a phone in his ear.

’Who is he calling so late at night? Is it another work stuff?’ Winter pondered. She was about to call his name, but quickly zipped her lips when Sebastian mentioned one name.

"Have you successfully infiltrated Camilla’s office without a hiccup? Did she not realize that you are a mole?"

Winter was stunned by what she heard just now. She stared intensely at Sebastian and kept her mouth zipped as she wanted to hear more.

Sebastian waited for his informant to lay out everything that he had known about Camilla’s crime, and then listed it out in a murmur as he wanted to remember everything, "Gratification and bribery. I see, she has been involved with politicians and also the police. Heh, of course, a witch like her must’ve been involved with the police. Without bribing them, she would be arrested in no time, knowing how many people’s lives she had ruined by being a loan shark."

...

"Yes, I want you to keep me informed about everything, and send me all the copies of the record about her crimes. Keep yourself safe, Camilla is really dangerous and ruthless."

Sebastian hung up after he got all the information needed. Though it seemed that he hadn’t done much, he actually had been trying to crack down on all the crimes that Camilla did and strike when his mother was unguarded.

Of course, he never wanted to tell Winter about it, because Winter didn’t know that he was also reborn just like her.

’It’s better to eliminate my mom quickly, and then live a good life with Winter who doesn’t suspect a thing,’ Sebastian thought.

However, all of his plans came crashing down when he heard a familiar voice calling him from behind, "Sebastian?"
