Chapter 118: Chapter 118

"And why do I have to believe you? So far in our previous life, you have done nothing but ignore all of my pleas!" Winter yelled. "You are just as bad as your mother, Sebastian!"

Sebastian knew that was the truth. He might be a victim of childhood abuse from his mother, but he was still the same scum who ignored all of Winter’s begging and pleading as she was being bullied by Camilla, so he was no better than his mother.

"I can’t give you anything but a promise, Winter. Please let me prove to you that I can fix everything. I will make sure that Camilla won’t disturb you anymore, and Goldmine Realty will be stabilized," Sebastian repeated his promise before. "After that, you... you can do everything you want."

"Oh, I will get what I want, alright. I will make sure to find the right man to marry this time, and you surely are not on that list, Sebastian Saenz," Winter said. She actually didn’t mean it. She didn’t plan to ever marry after this, as it had traumatized her so much. But it was nice seeing Sebastian’s expression. It was heartbreak, pain, and also acceptance.

Sebastian’s body was shaking, he was trying his best not to show weakness, but the idea of Winter ending up with someone else was too much for him to bear.

Nevertheless, the moment they got a divorce, Winter was free to make love with another man, and he was allowed to do so as well.

But he already dedicated his life to Winter. So if Winter didn’t want him anymore, then he would never chase another relationship.

"I see..." Sebastian said with difficulty. He kept pausing as he opened his mouth because his words were stuck in his throat. "It’s up to you. I just... want to be useful. You can use me as a tool until you are happy in this life, Winter."

Winter shrugged as she turned around and walked into her room, "Fair enough. I’ll be watching you closely, do me good and be a useful tool for me. Ruin your mother’s life just like how she ruined mine, and stabilize the company before we get a divorce."

Winter slammed the bedroom door, leaving Sebastian alone, staring at the door before he fell on his knees.

His heart had been shattered into pieces, yet he had no right to pick it back up. He should’ve allowed Winter to step on each part of his heart until she was satisfied if that would make her happy.

’That’s right, Sebastian Saenz. You return to this world to make amends for your mistake. So why do you want more from her?’ Sebastian asked himself. He tried to justify everything for Winter’s sake. ’So why am I still feeling bitter?’

**

Winter locked the door as she didn’t feel safe staying in the same penthouse with the man who ruined her life. She leaned on the door, and her mind blanked out as she didn’t know what to do next.

’Why did I stop him from jumping from that balcony? I should’ve let him die a horrible death like what I experienced, so I will be satisfied,’ Winter thought. She knew it wasn’t love. It was stupid to fall into the same trap twice. ’So why am I so distressed seeing him on the brink of death?’

Winter threw herself on the bed as she tried to sleep it out, hoping this was all just a nightmare. But her heart was restless as she kept searching for the answer to her action just now.

**

The night felt too long for Sebastian and Winter because none of them could have a good night’s sleep.

They walked out of their respective rooms at the same time, and when their eyes met, it was Sebastian who averted his gaze first.

"Good morning, lov—Winter..." Sebastian quickly changed the way he addressed her because their dynamic had changed dramatically since last night.

...

Winter said nothing, but her gaze was intimidating enough for a big guy like Sebastian to cower as he felt so small compared to her.

"I will get ready and go to the office immediately. I’ll make sure to give you a good result," Sebastian said as he hurried to the kitchen and made himself breakfast.

Winter watched everything while sitting on the sofa. She was still thinking of what she should do to make him suffer even more.

But seeing how a big guy like Sebastian looked so timid in front of her made her lose the urge to torture him.

’I think there’s no point in torturing someone who’s already tortured,’ Winter thought. ’It’s best to just deal with the first problem.’

"Sebastian."

"Y-yes!" Sebastian stiffened as he turned around and stood in front of Winter. freewёbn૦νeɭ.com

"You need to move out."

Again, that sentence was like thunder in the clear sky for Sebastian. He knew it was inevitable that she would ask him to move out, but he was clinging to the hope that he could at least see her face every day. It was like medicine for him, because he feared the moment he wasn’t around, Winter would jump again from that balcony, and his nightmare would repeat.

But before Sebastian voiced his concern, Winter added, "You don’t need to move out of the apartment, since I know it’ll make Camilla suspicious. But I want you to move one floor below. I have another apartment that you can use there," Winter said. "I don’t feel safe having to share a house with you."

Sebastian was somewhat relieved that he still had the chance to see Winter’s face every morning at the parking lot at least.

He nodded obediently and said, "I will pack up immediately and move out."

"Hm."

Winter crossed her arms as she looked at Sebastian who was like a tamed tiger. For some reason, Winter felt that Sebastian was a bit too obedient, and it made her wonder if he was scheming behind her back right now.

Nevertheless, with Sebastian out of her penthouse, she could take a breather after a long day without any risk.

"See you in the office, Sebastian Saenz. Be useful for me this time," Winter said as she turned around and returned to her room.
