Chapter 130: Chapter 130

[Song Recommendation: Joji - Slow Dancing In the Dark.]

Sebastian left the mansion in an absolutely terrible mood. He didn’t even know if he could face his mother anymore after this, knowing that his life was based on a lie and a petty drama between his mother and biological father.

Truthfully, he wouldn’t even mind if his father turned out to be a bum, a gigolo, or even a criminal. He didn’t care because he didn’t have any emotional connection to a man who was never present in his life anyway.

But now that he realized his mother forced him to marry Winter as soon as possible only for money, he was left heartbroken.

"So what if I’m Rafael Kirk’s son? She is a mistress and I am an affair baby, what right do we have compared to Winter who was married to Aiden until his death?" Sebastian said as he drove through the night back to his apartment. "Why does she need more when we are already rich? And to destroy an innocent woman’s life just for something we don’t deserve..."

Sebastian felt awful right now and there was only one person—a woman, to whom he wanted to come and confess about everything.

Sebastian parked his car and then went straight to the penthouse where Winter was currently resting. He knocked on the door repeatedly until the door was opened from inside.

Winter opened the door slightly and looked at the haggard expression that Sebastian had, "What’s wrong with you?" She asked. She couldn’t help to show a trace of worry as Sebastian’s eyes were full of grievance and hopelessness. As if he had fully drowned in despair.

Sebastian stared at Winter with a pitiful gaze, like a dog who had lost his owner.

He began imagining a good life with Winter and wondered if things could’ve turned out differently had it not been for him listening to his mother’s bullshit.

They could have a good life, and she wouldn’t need to die with their baby had it not been for him to fight more for their marriage.

It was his fault, and he felt pathetic knowing that he had ruined everything.

"If you’re not going to say anything, then I’m going to close the door, Sebastian."

Sebastian’s tears began to well up, and his lips trembled as he said, "It’s all my fault, Winter. If only I tried harder, we could have a good life together."

Winter didn’t know what Sebastian was up to, and she immediately suspected that he was being sent here by Camilla to act pitiful, so Winter would take him back.

But the earnestness in his eyes was more than enough to dispel her doubt. So, she asked, "What are you talking about, Sebastian? I already told you before that it was far too late. You’ve burned the bridge, and I don’t need you in my life other than your usefulness for the company, you’re just a tool, Sebastian. Is it not clear enough?"

Winter said that so calmly, yet also ruthlessly.

Sebastian was already on the verge of breaking down, so when Winter shot him down again and called him nothing but a tool, he quickly lost all of his strength and dropped to his knees.

"S-Sebastian? What is—!!" Winter was caught off guard when Sebastian suddenly hugged her waist. He buried his face on her stomach, and she could feel her pajamas around that area begin to dampen as his shoulder started trembling.

"I’m sorry, Winter. I’m sorry for being a coward. I’m sorry that I have been nothing useful to you. I’m sorry that I’m just a tool," Sebastian began to ramble as he kept on crying.

Winter put her hand on his hair, ready to push him away.

But seeing how fragile he looked, she began to feel a little pity and rubbed his hair instead.

She said nothing as it seemed that Sebastian simply wanted someone to listen to his grief.

"Winter, it’s fine if you want to use me as a tool, but please don’t call me that. Growing up, I’ve always been beaten by my mother over the smallest mistake, and she would always beat me if I was not useful to her," Sebastian muttered while sobbing. "I know I’m just a tool, but please don’t say that, it really hurts."

Winter had guessed that Sebastian must’ve been emotionally tied to his mother. Camilla was a very manipulative woman, so she thought that Sebastian was doing everything she told him to do willingly.

But if he had been beaten since he was a child, would it justify her hatred towards him? After all, he was also traumatized, scared to be left alone as he had been emotionally attached to Camilla.

Winter continued caressing his hair and asked, "I cannot forgive you for your ignorance, Sebastian. Even if you have been physically and emotionally abused, it doesn’t erase your sin."

"I know... I know that very well..." Sebastian said as he had long accepted his sin. "That’s why I’m trying my best to be a useful tool for you. So you won’t abandon me. You are the only one I have now, Winter."

"You still have your mother," Winter said.

"I’ve cut my relationship with her after I found out about my real identity today," Sebastian said. "I-I have nobody in this world, so I shamelessly cling to you, my only light."

"What do you mean you’ve cut your relationship with her?"

Sebastian finally lifted his head, staring at Winter with red eyes and the tears that kept flowing down from the corner of his eyes.

For a second, Winter didn’t see that cold and intimidating man who ruined her life before.

What she saw was a very fragile boy—yes, a boy who was so emotionally scarred that he would cling to any source of light he could find to continue living.

Sebastian didn’t try to hide anything from Winter, including his grievance and desperation.

"My mother showed me the picture of her and my father... and I found out that my father is Rafael Kirk," Sebastian confessed. "I am Aiden’s half-brother."
