Chapter 132: Chapter 132

Winter was also not feeling well tonight.

She sat on the bed after making sure that her mother was already sleeping, but she didn’t feel drowsy at all.

Her mind kept on reminding her of Sebastian’s face.

All of the vulnerability and desperation that he showed, and how fragile he looked as he discarded all of his pretense while hugging her waist.

It made her feel sad, because she knew that Sebastian was being genuine, and yet... she wasn’t sure if she could truly reciprocate his feelings, especially after what he did in their previous lives.

’What’s wrong with you, Winter? Why are you weakening?’ Winter blamed herself because she let her emotions sweep her logic.

She often fantasized about seeing him grovel on his knees, hugging her desperately and begging to be forgiven. But Winter would ignore him completely and never forgive him until he fell into despair.

It was a sickening fantasy, but it kept her alive for a while.

She had her best shot just now, and she blew it by caressing his hair tenderly.

’So, what do I want? Do I want to avenge this hatred and put him into a deeper despair? Or do I forgive him?’

Winter was also confused by her feelings as anger and compassion mixed into one.

In the end, Winter could only close her eyes and ignore this problem, at least until she had to face Sebastian again after he had successfully brought his mother to court.

"You don’t look happy, Winter," Gina mentioned as they had breakfast together. "Is something bothering you right now?"

Winter smiled at her mom and shook her head, "No, Mom. It’s nothing serious."

"Is it about your second husband?" Gina asked again, and the smile on Winter’s lips faded. "It is about your husband, isn’t it?"

Winter sighed.

She nodded and replied, "We’re not on good terms, Mom. There is a lot of shady stuff that he did behind my back."

"Did he cheat on you?"

"Well... technically, no," Winter replied. She recalled how Sebastian tried hard to convince her that he did not cheat.

Winter should’ve known better, but then again, Sebastian was so convincing that she couldn’t help lower her guard a little.

’Unless I caught him cheating in this current life, then I have no right to accuse him,’ Winter thought.

"He’s just... a momma boy. He’s too emotionally bound by his mother."

"I see..." Gina pondered for a moment and said, "Does he show an effort to sever his ties, or at least try to distance himself from his mother?"

Winter nodded.

"To be so emotionally bound with his mother means he is either too spoiled or too abused as a child. As long as he shows an effort to prioritize you over his mother, then you should give him a chance," Gina advised.

Her mother knew nothing about her suffering in her previous life, but that didn’t mean her advice was not usable.

She was right, Winter wanted to give him a second chance, but perhaps she wasn’t ready to reconcile, at least not when Camilla was still around.

"I will try, Mom," Winter said. "But I don’t know if I’m ready. I’m still pretty much in love with Aiden."

"Life goes on, Winter. Just because you still love Aiden, doesn’t mean that you will have to keep grieving over his death forever," Gina sighed. "If you can’t connect with your current husband, then it’s alright to be separated. But I’m just telling you to open your heart a little and see him as his own person. Don’t compare him to Aiden, because they are two completely different men."

"Mm... I understand, Mom..." Winter finished her breakfast. She got up, grabbed her bag and kissed her mom on the cheek. "I’ll have to go to the office today. Your caregiver said she’s already in the elevator."

Gina smiled, "Have fun at work."

**

Winter entered the office and saw Iris for the first time in a while. She smiled at her friend and said, "Morning, Iris."

Iris was stunned until she got up and hugged her friend tightly.

"Oh my god, Winter. I saw the news before, and I was so scared for your safety! That sister of yours... urgh, I know she’s bad news from the start."

Winter chuckled, "I already replied to your text, right? You don’t need to worry."

"I knowwww, but I’m still relieved to see you unharmed with my own eyes," Iris replied. "By the way, your husband is inside. If that’s what you’re here for."

"Mhm, I’m here to see him," Winter said as she opened the door and walked inside the CEO’s office.

She saw Sebastian sitting on the sofa, giving her a knowing look before refocusing on the document.

"One second, Winter. I will have to deal with this document about our company project first."

Winter sat on the smaller seat and stared at him for a while until Sebastian’s body stiffened and his ears turned red.

He put the document on the table and stared at Winter with a red hue on his cheeks, "Why do you keep staring at me like that? It makes me nervous."

"It’s just your tie. It’s crooked badly," Winter said as she naturally grabbed his tie and yanked it, pulling Sebastian closer to her.

Winter began to fix his tie while ignoring Sebastian’s burning stare. Once she was done, she patted his chest and said, "If you can’t wear one yourself, you can always tell me. I can do it while I’m free."

"W-Winter, this is..."

"Don’t think too much about it. I just think that you need to look neat while working as the CEO of Goldmine Realty," Winter said.

Sebastian didn’t feel sad at all despite Winter confirming that she did it out of professionalism.

In fact, it made him happy that Winter would spare her time to fix his tie, a little thing that made his day immediately.

"Also, I’m here to know your report about Camilla. Since you promised me last night."
