Chapter 50: Chapter 50

"Uhh..."

Sebastian observed Winter’s reaction.

She didn’t seem happy and for a good reason. He would also be angry if someone stole his food.

But the thought that she might lash out at him over a creamy mushroom soup scared him. It would be even worse if she decided to never cook in the house anymore after learning the truth.

’But will she get angry at me for it?’ Sebastian tried to calm down. ’She hates me. But surely she’s not that unreasonable, right?’

’But what if she’s actually THAT unreasonable and decides never to touch the kitchen again? Fuck. I can’t afford not to eat her food. I’ve been starving for years!’

Sebastian was panicking over a bowl of leftover mushroom soup.

His brain was desperately trying to come up with a good reason to save himself and the future of his dinners.

"Sebastian."

"Y-yes!" Sebastian gulped.

"Did you throw it away?" Winter asked. Her tone was far colder than before, making him panic.

"I—uh... I was too tired to order anything last night, so I opened the fridge and took that mushroom soup. D-don’t worry, I ate everything, even licked the bowl. I swear I won’t toss any of your cooking!"

Sebastian panicked and blurted out everything, much to Winter’s surprise.

She raised her brow, staring at Sebastian, who was acting really stupid today.

She ought to get angry at him. This was the perfect chance for her to yell at him, or she could just hit him.

She could do anything to make herself feel better after this bastard kept on intruding in her dream shamelessly.

But for some reason, she wasn’t angry right now.

In fact, she was quite happy that Sebastian would eat her homemade food, something that he would never have done in their previous lives.

’Did he have a change of heart, or maybe he’s just hungry and lazy?’ Winter guessed. But she was inclined to believe the latter because, in her mind, this man was incapable of being merciful or loving.

On top of that, she made a creamy mushroom soup because she knew Sebastian hated mushrooms. So, she thought he wouldn’t eat it anyway.

’He must’ve been really hungry then,’ Winter thought. ’I guess I should let him slide this time.’

"What are you, a dog?" Winter scoffed. "Is it good?"

"Yes!" Sebastian nodded excitedly. He was so relieved that Winter didn’t seem angry, but he was still walking on eggshells. "It’s the best!" freёnovelkiss-com

"Oh, really?" Winter grinned as she had an evil idea in her mind. "Then, maybe I should make a variety of mushroom-based food from now on so you can eat them with me."

Winter expected Sebastian’s smile to crack. It would be even better if he suddenly backpedaled and said he didn’t like her food.

But Sebastian actually nodded even more, and his face was beaming with joy as if he had just won a million dollar lottery.

"Yes! Please do. I’ll eat all of them!" Sebastian said loudly. "Oh, do you need me to prepare all the ingredients? I’ll send someone to fill the fridge with mushrooms!"

The grin on Winter’s face vanished. "Don’t you hate mushrooms?"

"Ah—how did you know?" Sebastian asked, still pretending to be ignorant. He scratched his head as if confused and added, "I hate mushrooms. But since it’s the homemade food that my wife makes, then I will eat it!"

Winter shot a death glare at Sebastian. She clenched her fist, angered reaction.

Sebastian soon stopped showing his joy when he realized Winter was angry. "W-what? Why are you looking at me like that? Will you not cook mushrooms for me every day?"

Winter scoffed. "Of course, I will cook for you. But I’m not going to cook mushrooms every day. I’m not a sociopath."

"Oh, that’s even better!" Sebastian’s eyes glimmered with hope once more. But that hope soon vanished when Winter’s grin turned into a cunning smirk as if she already had something planned. "What’s wrong this time? Why are you smirking like that?"

"Hm? Nothing," Winter replied. "If you want me to cook for you, then promise me you will eat it, no matter what I put on the dining table."

Sebastian knew nothing good would come out of that statement. Winter was still angry at him and might put something dangerous in the food she made.

But Sebastian simply couldn’t ignore the idea of eating anything his wife made. He went insane, regretting every small thing he did, including ignoring her effort to cook for him every day.

So, in this life, he wanted to make up for everything. He’d eat anything as long as Winter made it.

Thus, he braced himself and nodded. "Sure, I’m already happy as long as my wife cooks for me!"

Winter really hated how joyful Sebastian looked. He acted like an innocent boy who just got the best Christmas gift, even though Winter knew what a scumbag he truly was.

’You don’t need to fake it, Sebastian. A bastard like you have no right to be so happy,’ Winter thought. ’You should’ve kneeled and groveled like you did in my dream.’

Winter was in no mood to see Sebastian’s happy face anymore, so she returned to her bedroom to prepare for the day.

As much as she hated Sebastian and Camilla, she couldn’t ignore the company Aiden left behind. She still had to check the budgeting in the finance department.

"Wait, you’re not going to eat with me?" Sebastian asked before she left. "I already made two portions for breakfast."

Winter sneered at him. "Don’t act like we’re on good terms, Sebastian. I don’t need to eat any of your disgusting food. So, stop offering me stuff that I don’t want."

"Well, it’s up to you. I can eat two portions just fine," Sebastian shrugged as he watched Winter returning to her room.

He sighed and sat alone at the dining table. ’Another day, another rejection. I gotta get used to it.’
