Madam Wants To Divorce Her Second Husband-Chapter 51
Chapter 51: Chapter 51
Sebastian spent at least fifteen minutes trying to tie a neat knot with his silk tie.
He glanced at his iPad multiple times to see the instructions on how to tie a tie. However, after failing a dozen times, he finally gave up.
He simply couldn’t tie a necktie as perfectly as Winter usually did. Before marrying her, he had avoided wearing neckties, thinking they looked too old-fashioned.
But he soon accepted the classic suit and tie after Winter started helping him almost every day before work.
They might not have been on good terms in their previous lives, but fixing his tie was one activity Sebastian cherished because it was like five minutes of heaven for him.
He could stare at Winter’s beautiful face up close for five minutes. He could feel her warmth, and God knows how hard it was for him to control himself so he wouldn’t just... hug her tight and kiss her every single morning.
"I’ve been too spoiled by her. Now I can’t even do simple stuff," Sebastian sighed. He tossed the necktie on the bed, wore his suit, and grabbed his briefcase.
Looking in the mirror, he noticed his thick eye bags.
"Damn, what’s with these eye bags? Is it because I only sleep five hours a day? But that should be okay for a young man under thirty like me, right?" Sebastian murmured while rubbing the area under his eyes, hoping his dark circles would magically disappear.
He wasn’t the type who would look at himself in the mirror and nitpick every single detail about his face. But he had been worrying ever since he knew that Winter hated him.
He was worried that he’d look too unattractive for his wife. After all, Winter was a gorgeous woman. She might be in her late thirties but looked no older than him.
So, it wouldn’t be hard for Winter to replace him if she wanted.
"Fuck, maybe I should hit the gym more often. I don’t want to be out of shape," Sebastian murmured, realizing that his muscle wasn’t as well-defined as it used to be because of overworking and stress. "It’s really hard when your wife is a beauty."
Sebastian opened the bedroom door and stuck his head out, looking around, hoping to see Winter in the living room.
Unfortunately, she had already left for the office.
Usually, Winter would sit on the sofa, watching TV after making breakfast, waiting for him to get ready for work.
He would let her fix his tie, but then he’d ignore her.
’I can’t believe how patient she is. Waiting for me every single day, trying her best to make me happy despite my behavior...’ Sebastian’s lips thinned. He had hundreds of regrets as he recalled all the small things Winter did for him.
’Winter, after your death, I keep asking myself if I could turn back the time, so I can repay you for all the sweet things you’ve done for me,’ Sebastian smiled bitterly. ’But now, I don’t even know how to apologize. Will you forgive me if I’m being honest? Or will you kill me if you know this is the same Sebastian Saenz who pushed you to your death?’
That question lingered in his mind every day, and he still had no answer.
Sebastian walked past the living room and stopped when he passed a table full of memorabilia of Winter and Aiden, from knick-knacks they got during their trip around the world, photos, and even trivial items whose history he didn’t know..
Back then, his mother practically tossed all of these memorabilia into the storage room once it was too full. She brazenly took some of the bigger framed photos and told the housekeepers to throw them all.
Camilla did all this without Winter’s permission, and Sebastian...
’I didn’t even bat an eye at this...’
Sebastian didn’t understand why he could be cruel enough to ignore Winter’s plea. But now, as he checked each of these photos, he understood why he had become so coldhearted.
In these photos, Winter looked so happy.
She was always smiling, and they looked so harmonious in every photo, like a couple straight out of a fairy tale.
’She never showed this kind of smile in front of me. Not even on our wedding day.’ Sebastian knew his jealousy was unfounded and unjustified. He was jealous of a dead man.
But he just couldn’t shake up that jealousy, even in their previous lives, especially when Winter defended these memorabilia with her life.,
She begged on her knees for Sebastian to stop his mother from destroying everything.
But the more Winter begged, the angrier he got.
"Argh, Sebastian, you really are a trash scumbag," Sebastian cursed himself. It was the only way he could cope with his guilt because the more he recalled everything he did to his wife, the more he realized how horrible he was.
Sebastian didn’t know much about Aiden except that he was a good businessman who managed the legacy of businesses left by his father.
Aiden was technically his boss, but Sebastian spent his years working in a branch company that always performed well, so they rarely met.
"I guess he’s a good husband too, since Winter loves him deeply," Sebastian muttered. He tried to suppress the jealousy in his heart, knowing he didn’t have the right to be jealous after everything that he had done to his wife.
Sebastian’s eyes stopped at a small framed photo.
Winter was alone in that photo, sitting on a bench, wearing a summer dress, and staring at the camera with a peaceful smile on her face.
Sebastian took the framed photo and slowly caressed her face. His heart ached, knowing it’d be difficult for Winter to show him this peaceful smile.
"My beautiful swan..." Sebastian whispered. The nickname came out of his mouth spontaneously because Winter looked like a swan in the middle of a lake—beautiful, elegant, and lonely.
"I will make you smile like this again. It’s a promise."
