Mage Manual-Chapter 1478 - 1078: Because I Want To
Felix thought for a moment and said, "Actually, there is a third option, and that is to change the other person into someone you don’t dislike."
"But that’s very difficult, extremely difficult. People find it hard to leave their comfort zones. The qualities you loathe are often the survival law that the other person believes in and relies upon. Asking someone to give up the principles they’ve always held onto, isn’t that the same as denying their past life? Without those dirty sins, perhaps there’s nothing to say about their life at all."
"Is it really that difficult?" Ash’s mood was somewhat downcast.
"For example," Felix glanced at him and said calmly, "Your sin lies in knowing full well your lover is unwilling to share love, yet you can’t control your heart. Changing someone’s nature is as difficult as getting you to abandon such trashy promiscuity and be devoted to one person in the future."
Ash felt a bit awkward, biting his cake with a bitter smile, "Sometimes your words are really cutting..."
"Of course, I’m from the Holy Domain of Poison Skill," Felix said. "Actually, what’s the big deal about losing one lover for you? Not to mention Sword Witch Silver Lamp, if you wanted to, Dedarose would be willing to wholeheartedly serve you anytime, and I’m absolutely sure that the women you know aren’t limited to these. You have at least five choices for partners... Even if you have a demigod soul body to mess yourself up as you please, do you really have the time to satisfy the companionship needs of these girls?"
"Since she has shortcomings you can’t accept and you can’t embrace all of her, you might as well give up on her. Actually, liking someone you hate is a mistake. What you should do is not persist, but correct."
"Not all love is correct. Sometimes you just meet the wrong person at the wrong time." Felix took a sip of coffee, "Like meeting me here, only to get scolded for nothing."
Yeah, he’s not some stray dog that no one wants, so why cling to a cruel and violent demon? If he needs, the heart-to-heart Sword Maiden, the naive and lovely Witch, the gentle and sweet Silver Lamp could all... Actually, not really, these girls seem to have made some agreement secretly, limiting Ash’s intimacy with them... In short, he’s not a death row convict lacking love anymore.
Moreover, the attitude of Sword Maiden and others is clear. They’re not just angry; they’re more worried... If liking other girls would only harm their interests, then Ash liking a demon might mean one day Ash could be controlled in soul.
No matter how it is analyzed, Ash has only one correct path. In the past, he might have been unable to let go because of those shared life-and-death experiences, but the memory loss caused by selling a quarter of his soul allowed him to completely abandon this emotion without burden, because he forgot everything.
Perhaps this is fate giving him a chance to correct mistakes... In Hell, he discarded the wrong past, now he should cut off the wrong future.
Felix watched Ash’s changing expression and turned to look at the streetlamp covered by snowflakes. She didn’t expect Ash would discuss such a topic with her, but it had become a perfect opportunity. She was neither sad nor happy inside, quietly waiting for Ash to give up... If Ash lets go, perhaps she could find the determination to give up too?
"For some reason," Ash suddenly said, "I still want to create a miracle."
Felix was taken aback, then couldn’t help but laugh, "You’re really a trash bin, once you like something you refuse to let go..."
"Stop scolding, stop scolding," Ash shrugged, "I just want to give it a try."
"Then don’t leave yourself with regrets, and take ninety-nine steps toward her." Felix said, "If she can’t even respond one step..."
"Then I’ll give up."
Ash downed the sweet milk in one gulp, wolfed down the cake, and wiped his lips with the back of his hand, as if cleaning them, rudely enough to make Felix cringe. He patted his pockets and looked innocently at Felix, "I didn’t bring money."
"I know." Felix waved her hand, "I knew from the start you love to sponge off women."
"Then I’ll go first." Ash stood up to leave, "Don’t leak our conversation!"
"I’m not looking for trouble, how could I let Sword Maiden and them know you’re chatting with me in private." Felix said irritably, "Lena and I were already main targets of their surveillance, as if you’re the biggest treasure in the world, any girl would fancy you..."
Ash scratched his head embarrassedly, paused as he passed Felix, and decided not to reach out again. Instead, he pulled out a packet of tissues from his pocket, took out a piece, and, under Felix’s puzzled gaze, wiped the cream off her cheek, "No need to thank me, I wanted to clean it earlier."
"I didn’t plan to thank you..."
"There’s some on the other cheek too." Ash handed her the tissue, but Felix simply turned her face over, like a little girl unwilling to do it herself, so Ash had to clean the young lady’s face and neatly fold the tissue on the table, "I’m off, remember to buy some cans of milk coffee when you return tonight, finished drinking yesterday!"
"Got it."
After Ash left, Felix quietly continued drinking coffee and eating cake. She became elegant and ladylike, managing not to get cream on her face again.
"Aren’t you going on a date next?"
Felix looked up and saw the handsome male waiter in the café tidying the table while gently asking, "You’ve been sitting here all afternoon, I thought you were waiting for your lover... Why did he leave on his own?"
Felix stayed silent, lowered her head, and finished off the last piece of cake. The handsome waiter, thinking she was on bad terms with her lover and refused to speak, seized the opportunity to add, "The greatest sin in this world is a beautiful lady waiting for so long in the cold snow. Some men are like coffee, bitter, but others like cake, sweet..."
He reached out, seemingly wanting to hold Felix’s hand, "When you’re in a bad mood, perhaps a piece of cake might cheer you up—"
Slap!
Felix backhanded a slap, sending the handsome waiter back two steps and clutching his quickly reddened face. He was just about to get angry when he met the killing intent in the eyes of the Holy Domain of Poison Skill, instantly shivering as cold fear gripped him.
Felix downed the black coffee, carefully wiped her lips with the folded tissue, and placed a gold coin on the small wooden table.
"I just like bitter coffee, as I please." Miss Vosloda picked up her purse, stood up, glancing disdainfully at the waiter and coldly said, "None of your business."
