Chapter 746

THE NEXT DAY!

Grey had escaped through his portal the day before and now, he was back with Yami and Clarice.

The moment he came, Noir quickly vanished from view.

According to him, he had stayed out in the human world for too long and his energy was almost gone.

Hence only the trio remained in the house. Chatting and catching up while planning further.

"So you really still want to go see your family?" Grey asked as he stared at Yami with a neutral expression on his face.

Yami pressed his lips together in a thin line before letting out a sigh.

"I have no choice. We need to know who is the second otherworlder here so we can take him out."

Grey shifted in his seating.

"And what if they don’t accept to help you?"

Yami cocked his shoulders casually.

"Then we will find another means to uncover the truth."

Then he turned his gaze back to Grey with an exasperated frown.

"... I should be asking you this question instead. Are you sure you really want to do this takeover you plan to do?"

"..."

A pause was observed as Grey stared around the house for a moment catching Clarice who was meticulously cooking freeze upon hearing the question.

"I have no choice. If I want to save Finral and Ray, I need to do this. And please, don’t stop me. I have already made up my mind to do this."

Yami shook his head.

"I’m not trying to stop you. I want to know if you are prepared enough. I have lived with you long enough to know that when you set your mind on something, you always stubbornly want to accomplish it. But..."

He stared deeply at Grey.

"... Are you certain that you are strong enough to do this? Orion is not to be taking lightly. Then there’s Rowen too. He is a manical beast. He would do anything for a kill."

Grey shook his head.

"I’m actually not strong enough. Not yet..."

"Then?"

"That is why I came back here earlier than I wanted to. Yami sir. I want you to take me under your tutelage once more. I want to learn the second stage of Ki and more fighting techniques you might have."

Grey paused studying Yami’s expression for a moment before continuing;

"... Ever since I regained my memories, I realised that I have relied solely on magic for a while now. I ignored martial arts and Ki. So here I am to ask for your help in sharpening my skills once more and add another powerup to my arsenal."

"..."

A few moments of silence was observed between the two as Yami stared at Grey’s eyes for some time.

But he didn’t see any hint of hesitation. The mage was prepared and ready to do what he set his sights on.

Yami’s lips curled into a knowing smile at this fact.

"Fine then. You want more power? I will help you get it."

Grey nodded with a grin.

"So when shall we start?" 𝕗𝕣𝐞𝐞𝘄𝐞𝚋𝚗𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗹.𝚌𝕠𝚖

Yami rose up from the ground while rolling his shoulders for a bit before replying with a devilish grin;

"Why of course... let’s start right now."

***

After taking permission from Clarice, Yami and Grey left the house and within a few minutes, they found themselves where Grey used to be trained by Yami months ago.

Though the mountain they used to train on was destroyed due to Grey’s battle, the forest was still there.

And it now had a seven metres wide clearing. More than wide enough for the two to do whatever they wanted to here.

Yami had a small bag hung around his waist as he stood two metres away from Grey with his arms crossed.

The Supreme Magus on the other hand had changed his attire.

Instead of his usual robe, he wore a tight fitting attire. A pair of orange shorts and shirt.

They clung to his body like a second skin.

His crimson hair was tied into a small ponytail as he stood straight in front of Yami.

"Before I begin the teaching on the second stage of Ki, I want us to do a stretching exercise. This exercise would allow me determine your capacity and limit."

Grey didn’t reply as he stared at Yami silently. Waiting to know what the man had in store for him.

"And this exercise, it’s going to be a sparring match. But in this match, you are strictly forbidden from using magic. Rely solely on your skills as a warrior and ki."

Grey lifted an eyebrow.

"So what’s the catch?"

Yami smirked.

"I want you to land just a single hit on me. Do whatever you may. Use whatever skills you have except magic. And land a single hit on me."

Grey rolled his shoulders confidently as he took a firm battle stance with his hands out front.

"I will take it as you have accepted." Yami shifted subtly on his feet.

Evenly distributing the weight to either feet.

"Ready when you are." He called.

The moment Grey heard that call, Ki flared around his feet and he swiftly shot forward like an arrow let loose.

His speed was considerably slower than when he used to use his wind magic and lightning to augment himself.

But he was still fast.

In a few seconds, he materialized in front of Yami.

Fist shot forward ready to strike the man in the face.

But with a smirk, Yami vanished from view.

Grey’s ears twitched as he spun around sharply on his heel. Wasting no time, he lunged forward again.

His eyes solely fixed on Yami who bothered about not attacking as he watched Grey cut through the air speeding his way.

He materialized before the man in a second and he let an uppercut loose towards him.

But Yami was still faster. His toes twitched as he got ready to spin around when—

Grey’s eyes darted to his feet and to the positioning of his body.

Without hesitation, the mage twisted his ankles all too sharply causing patches of grass to tear off the ground roughly.

Channeling Ki to his fist, he swung it forward with all his might catching Yami unaware as the hit landed solidly on his abdomen sending the man staggering backwards with a flustered look on his face.

Grey paused. A smile flashed across his face.

"I did it."

Yami nodded with a calm look on his face as he wiped his mouth while walking towards the mage.

"You sure did. Now let’s learn the second stage of Ki together."
