Chapter 751: Into the Portal (2)

Chapter 751

Stepping through the portal, Grey and the Crimson Lotus Clan materialized in a new world.

Their feet landed on a grass.

Gazing upwards, the grassy land looked to cover more than half the world.

Three half destroyed structures were spaced out littering the place.

The grass beneath their feet reached up to a few inches above their ankles.

The smell of the world was... okay a bit.

More and more people who registered to tackle the portal were seen being spit out by the portal behind them.

"Let’s move away." Alba said as she broke away from the gateway and the others followed suit.

Slowly navigating through the thick grass holding their feet back by a bit.

Strangely enough, no beasts were in sight.

Grey just kept his hands in his pockets while scanning the world they had spawned into.

His eyes landed on the mysterious man from earlier who still had his hood over his face.

Where all the people had decided to tackle the portal with a team, the mysterious man was all alone. That was what drew the mage’s attention to him.

’I need to keep my eyes on him.’

The moment they began moving, Alba had already unsheathed one of her swords and gripped it tightly.

That was when Grey decided to scan the weapons the Crimson Lotus Clan used.

Killian used two swords— the same ones Grey had helped modify.

Alba too used two handed swords, Lance had two double handed axes on his back as he walked with a straight gait.

Brook had a tower shield in his hand. Same one Grey modified too. Although, the warrior still didn’t know the second function of the shield aside from being incredibly light.

Lilly held a bow in her hand with two quiver full of arrows strapped around her back.

Judy held a spear in her shaky hands as she stiffly walked forward.

Grey still wondered what kind of help the girl was to the clan. But what did he care?

And lastly, Ash. He held no weapons and simply buried his pale hands inside the thick sleeves of his robe.

Grey was the one who held the rear as he pocketed his hands without any care in the world.

His observant eyes scanned the place to see those that had came into the portal branching to different places hoping not to get caught up with the others.

During his scan of the clans’ weapons, he had lost track of the mysterious man causing him to click his tongue in annoyance.

"Hey Alba, what is the main description for this mission?" Ash couldn’t help but ask.

"We are to hunt the beasts in this world. What else?" Alba replied while her eyes scanned the surroundings— specifically the grass beneath their feet.

"... Aren’t the big guns worried about us accidentally summoning the boss?" Lance asked.

Alba thought for a moment before replying;

"I think it will be fine. I feel like it will take a lot of dead beasts to summon the boss... a lot."

’I wonder how many dead beasts it will take.’

For a boss class beast to be summoned, it required a ton of dead beasts.

Some portals could require fifty or even a hundred dead beasts for the boss class to get summoned.

The numbers vary with different portals though.

The wind rustled softly bringing with it the faint sounds of battle into Grey’s ears causing him to turn around.

Though he was unable to see far, he could faintly see a team battling beasts around one of the destroyed shelters.

Rustle—!

Grey quickly turned around swiftly only to see the grasses around them moving continuously.

The grass was rustling with intensity causing the Crimson Lotus Clan to halt their movements as the rustling surrounded them from every corner.

"Prepare for battle!" Alba announced as she tightly held her sword refusing to pull out the second.

Lance pulled out his axes from his back and took a ready stance.

Lilly nocked an arrow on the strings of her bow as she lifted it, pointing the weapon forward waiting for anything.

While the members were all pulling out their weapons, they also moved into a strange formation with Alba out front.

To her left was Lilly and her weapon.

To Alba’s right stood Lance with his axes. 𝐟𝕣𝗲𝕖𝕨𝗲𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝗲𝚕.𝗰𝚘𝐦

Killian held the rear as he clutched his swords tightly while beside him stood Ash who stared all around with weary eyes.

The formation was wide putting Judy and Ash in their middle as they both held their weapons with weary eyes.

The moment Grey had heard the rustle, he broke away from the formation and stood metres away from the main battlefield.

His role? An observer.

He wanted to see how the Crimson Lotus Clan would fight.

Most especially, Alba. He wanted to witness for himself her power. The power of a stage seven warrior like her.

’Every beast planet has the same type of beast. Only rarely will you see two different types. So let’s see how they handle this.’

It didn’t take long for the beasts to show themselves.

In a heartbeat, twenty beasts lunged out from the grass that surrounded the clan members.

Grey frowned. Staring at the beasts’ features.

They stood around two metres tall. A crossbreed between a lizard and a chameleon of old.

Their fleshy, scaly bodies looked to be pulsing softly. The moment they had lunged out of their hiding spots, Grey caught sight of a strange sight.

Their bodies changed colour from a deep green like the grass to an earthy brown.

Earlier, when he thought they were crossbreds between a lizard and a chameleon, he was wrong.

They had another feature to them and they swiftly used it.

Long tongues shot out at lightning fast speed towards the humans in front of them.

Alba on noticing this speed, quickly shouted out a warning.

"They are saint ranked beasts!"
