Magus Supremacy-Chapter 750: Into the Portal (1)
Chapter 750
After the order from Alba, it didn’t take long for them to filter into a carriage that was wide enough to fit them all without feeling cramped.
Grey was sat beside Ash as he looked at all the clan members in the carriage.
For some reason, they weren’t afraid, nervous or anxious. Well, Judy was. But she is always anxious so nothing new there.
Grey even doubted if she would be of any use to the battle as she looked... weak and flimsy.
Even Lilly actually had much of a presence compared to Judy.
But what did he care? If Alba had her in the clan, it meant she was useful one way or the other and the Supreme Magus wanted to see why.
The others on the other hand, they were chatting casually as if they were heading for a picnic and not a beast portal.
The carriage smoothly rolled over the terrain with only a few occasional bumps here and there.
Grey wasn’t in his usual ’Supreme Magus’ attire, he just dressed casually and normally.
Not as a warrior or a mage, but more like a civilian.
He looked plain and unrecognisable. And that was the plan.
He wanted to blend into the background without anybody suspecting him of anything. He didn’t want any eyes on him or anybody to think he was strong or something.
Not because he was scared of anybody or something, but more like he wanted the free will to secretly hunt without any clans eyeing him up.
Besides, whether he looked normal or not, who would want to piss someone who was the Crimson Lotus Clan?
"We are here." The carriage rider announced from outside as the vehicle came to a smooth stop.
Trickling out of the carriage, the vehicle rolled away leaving the Crimson Lotus Clan to see dozens upon dozens of warriors dotting spaces in the wide expanse of desert.
That’s right. The portal opened up in a desert.
And the same swirling vortex could be seen swirling up ahead glowing an ominous black.
There were two people standing guard in front of the portal.
Though the vortex appeared on a no man’s land, the two big clans still had to send representatives to create a semblance of order.
Which was why only those strong enough and had registered were granted permission into the portal.
The moment the carriage had rolled to a stop, all eyes turned to those that had just arrived.
The moment they landed on Alba and Killian, they already realised those that had arrived.
The Crimson Lotus Clan.
But something was wrong. Why was there an eight person with them?
To their knowledge, the clan had seven strong members so why was there such an ordinary looking eight person with them?
But since it was none of their business, every eyes turned back to what they were doing.
Trying to form groups with strong looking members standing around the place.
Alba and the others ignored the warriors on the field and just went to stand in one corner that was almost empty.
While Grey on the other hand, just crossed his arms across his chest while observing the people scattered around with a judging look.
’Proud. Snorty. Strong looking. Weak acting strong...mysterious?’ his eyes landed on a man standing calmly without anybody surrounding him.
From where he stood, his facial features were unable to be seen but he had an air of mystery around him.
Black hair on his head that swayed gently in the wind. Slightly bulging arms crossed across his chest, a cloak with a robe settled over his body firmly as if it was made for him.
As if noticing the gaze on him, the man swiftly pulled the hood of the cloak over his head obscuring his face further.
’Too mysterious. I need to keep an eye on him.’ Grey mentally noted.
He was about to go back to observing the people when a voice pulled him back.
"Hey Alba,"
Everybody turned to see someone marching forward and behind him, a cohort of about four members each armed to the teeth with strong looking weapons.
Alba stared at the slightly handsome man in front of her who was dressed in a full silver body armour with a sword hung around his waist.
"What do you want? Gunlag." Alba demanded with a frown on her face.
"Oh. Come on. I just came to say hi." Gunlag replied with a small smile on his face.
"Now you have said it. Vanish." Alba shot back with a glare deep enough to pierce the man’s soul.
"What’s her deal?" Grey whispered more to himself.
But Ash who heard it leaned in and decided to take it upon himself to explain.
"... Gunlag was Alba’s ex. They were a power couple a few years ago before they fell off two years later after Gunlag cheated on her... so I heard though." Ash whispered.
’Oh.’
"By the way. When did you add an eighth member to your group?" Gunlag asked as his gaze landed on Grey.
Eyes scrutinizing him over and over. And for some reasons unknown to the man, Grey didn’t flinch as he met his gaze calmly.
He even added a wink that seemed to irk Gunlag causing his brows to twitch.
"Whatever I do, is none of your business." Alba snarled before stomping away. "Just f*ck off like you always do."
With that, she walked away with the rest of her members following suit.
Gunlag just stood there with the same smile on his face. But deep down, he was boiling.
"Keep an eye on them. They might cause problems for us in this hunt." Gunlag spoke to his team and they all nodded.
After a few minutes of waiting, it was finally time to go into the portal and names and teams were being called one after another.
It took twenty minutes before it got to the Crimson Lotus Clan’s turn and soon enough, they made their way forward.
It was time to hunt. And so, into the portal they went.
