Chapter 777: First Contestants

Chapter 777

"Yes. The death wave segment. That is our first segment for the day." Ken’s voice resounded in the whole coliseum as everybody exchanged glances of unease.

"... Ahem... in this segment, each academy from the three factions would face a wave one by one. A wave of deadly Divine ranked beasts."

If Grey had been sipping on something right now, he would have spit it out in shock at what he was hearing.

’Di-Divine ranked beasts? A rank just below the Primordial rank? What is this faction thinking? Do they want to kill the innocent students? This is too much to be honest.’

"Now I know why it is called the ’Death wave’" Noir chuckled in Grey’s mind as he was watching and listening through the mage’s mind.

"... Through our collaboration with the Midnight Sun Clan, we got an artifact that could summon Divine ranked beasts into the arena today.

So here is the catch; a random academy would be selected and what they have to do is fight the beasts. Like I said; it’s a wave by wave type of thing. There are five type of waves."

’Five types?!’ Grey exclaimed inwardly in horror.

"... Whichever academy that can reach the five waves or even reach a high enough wave compared to the others, win. And of course, poins would be awarded. Two points per wave. Same with the second segment. Points would be awarded and the faction academy with the highest points at the end of the tournament, wins the tournament."

’No, no, no. Finral and Ray aren’t strong enough to handle a single Divine ranked beast. Talk more of waves. I need to crash this tournament now.’ Grey resolved with a grim look on his face.

He was about to stand up when—

"... I know what you are planning to do." A voice whispered into his ears from behind causing his eyes to widen.

He was about to turn around when the voice continued.

"Don’t turn around. Just keep looking straight ahead like you have been doing. It’s me, Fenrir."

’Oh.’ Grey finally calmed down as he settled into his seat with a straight look on his face which was hidden behind the mask though.

"... I know you are worried about your friends not being able to handle the first segment. But I’m here bearing a message from Leo."

’A message?’

"He says; just sit back and watch the show. Your plan of taking over the Aetherian faction won’t work if you don’t know the strengths of your allies. He says, you left them at the academy when they were weak, now watch to see if they are still weak or need saving.

They have been working hard for two months. Two months of hellish training with the hopes of meeting your expectations and assisting you in this takeover.

So don’t ruin this moment for them because they know you are watching." Fenrir finished speaking causing Grey to clench and unclench his hands a few times before letting a quiet sigh.

"That all?" He asked.

"... No. I’m here with my own personal message."

"Which is?"

"Prepare yourself. We would strike at the..." Fenrir whispered the time of the attack in Grey’s ears causing the mage to subtly nod.

"I will be heading to the east booth now. As the vice clan leader of the waterfall clan, I shouldn’t be caught missing the show. So bye for now."

The moment Fenrir finished speaking, his aura vanished from behind Grey allowing the mage to shift comfortably in his seat with a quiet sigh.

’Then I guess we should just enjoy the show though.’

"Now," The announcer’s voice was heard again. "Please turn to the holographic display which would display the first faction to take up the Death wave segment."

All heads turned to the huge holographic display that had three symbols representing each of the academy.

In a flash, the symbols were being shuffled at a crazy speed and after a few moments, it began settling back down only for a single symbol to remain.

"Well, our first contestants today are known as the beasts of the Vayun world. The Noxarian faction." The announcer hyped loudly.

And with that, the west booth opened. The door sliding upwards allowing the students who would undertake this segment to step forward.

The students stepping out all dressed in the same clothing.

Black shirts, black pants and a red belt around their waists.

In their hands were various weapons with their hands clutched tightly around the hilt as if ready for anything to happen.

Leading them out was a young looking man? He looked about eighteen or even nineteen years of age.

He had a small scar across his cheek further adding to his mean look along with his wild orange hair.

The spectators watching all gasped when they saw who was stepping out of the booth with five other students trailing behind him.

— Isn’t that? Isn’t that the Orange tiger of the Noxarian academy?!

— It is.

— Damn. The famous Orange Tiger huh? Wow. This tournament would be dope.

— I wonder if the Crimson Dragon of the Aetherian faction would appear today.

— Definitely, he will. I don’t think the Aetherian faction would want to throw away their chance of victory away by not adding him. That’s stupid.

As the voices overlapped around him, a scowl appeared on Grey’s face as he stared at the orange tiger stepping out confidently with his chest puffed out.

As if... as if he owned the whole stage or something. 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝙬𝙚𝓫𝒏𝓸𝓿𝓮𝒍.𝓬𝙤𝓶

’That damned kid. I haven’t forgotten you yet. I wonder how much stronger he is at the moment.’

Within a few minutes, the students filed in the middle of the arena with their various weapons mainly gauntlets out on full display as they stared at the whole crowd and then at the three booths.

Taking in a deep breath, the orange tiger steeled himself as he flashed back to the word the strongest vice leader of the Behemoth clan told him.

— You do not do well in this segment, I will skin you alive and trust me, I really will. Make sure you get to at least, the fourth wave or else.

The threat, tone and fierceness was real making his shoulders and body tremble in fright yet he steadied himself confidently while staring ahead.

The middle of the coliseum was as wide as two soccer pitch allowing for more than ample movements on this ground.

"Let the first wave be brought out!" The announcer’s voice rang out loudly causing the crowd to roar loudly in excitement.
