Magus Supremacy-Chapter 781: A Shift in Power
Chapter 781
The east booth slowly slid upwards and from it,
Tak. Tak. Tak.
Heavy footsteps began walking out of it.
One by one, students from the Aetherian faction began filing out.
Grey who was in the spectator stands, tensed up as he stared ahead at the teens walking forth.
No smiles. No hesitation. No tension or even anxiety.
They all walked out like powerful force of warriors ready for war.
First to step out was Finral Cromwell.
His eyes were stern. No sign of playfulness on his face.
In his hand was his sword which gleamed with deadly light.
Behind him was Ray. Hands wrapped in a pair of gauntlets.
These gauntlets were crafted and given to him by a special somebody. And today, he hoped that it will help him in this battle today.
Next to step out was Liam. His black eyepatch fitted perfectly over his left eye.
He also gripped a sword in hand. A scar ran under his chin. Something which wasn’t there before.
The previous clown aura and behaviour was not present today. He looked prepared, strong and ready for what was to come.
Although, if someone peered closer, they could see a slight tension in his shoulders. As if he was scared or something.
Next up was a direct descendant of the Waterfall Clan.
Mada Stormvale. He looked like someone brimming with immense energy.
His sword not leaving the scabbard around his waist at all.
Next up was another direct descendant.
Noelle Nightbane. A whip settled firmly around her waist.
She walked forward like an enchantress. Hips swaying left and right in a mix of seduction and power.
Behind her was Grey’s gargoyle aide. Thalos.
But today, he wasn’t in his usual gargoyle form. Instead, he was disguised as a human with the name of "Pink"
He held no weapon. And just walked forward with a bored expression on his face as if the whole tournament was of no use to him.
The moment he walked into the middle of the arena, his head shot up to the spectator stands.
His gaze lingered in a particular spot and soon enough, an imperceptible smile crossed his face before he took a few steps back, away from the others.
Last but not the least to walk forward was the strongest direct descendant out of the three.
Rivock.
A chilling smile crested his face as he walked out unbothered by the gaze fixed on his back.
The moment he walked out, the east booth closed back up.
Soon enough, the seven participants from the Aetherian academy filtered into the arena.
And that was when whispers began flying around as they stared at the numbers of participants on the field.
— Hang on. I count seven.
— Exactly. Why did the Noxarian academy bring out six students and here the Aetherian academy are bringing out seven? Isn’t this unfair?
— Forget that for a moment. Where is the Crimson Dragon?
— The Crimson who?
— Didn’t you hear? Apparently there was a powerful student who fought against the strongest direct descendant and actually prevailed. It was said that he rained lightning from the sky.
— Rained lightning? The hell are you talking about? How is that physically powerful to do?
— Honestly, I don’t know. That’s what I just heard. And they said he had red hair. But I can’t see anybody who matches that description here.
Meanwhile, Grey could be seen sitting calmly amongst the spectators listening to their whispers and the words they were saying.
He didn’t elicit any emotion or even any attempt to converse with them.
He fixed his gaze ahead. Staring at both his friends and allies on the field.
’Even from where I am, I can feel the new surge of power flowing through them. Th-They have obviously been through hell just to stand here today. If even Liam who usually joked around can look this serious...
And it’s obvious that they all actually managed to reach the next warrior stage. Well, all except Rivock though.’ Grey mused inwardly before settling back into his seat.
He cast a quick glance in a direction of the spectator stands and spotted Alba conversing with a few onlookers.
Then he looked to his right and still saw the members of the Midnight Sun Clan seated comfortably like they were here to watch a soccer match or something.
At that exact moment, he felt a pair of eyes on him. Turning his gaze back to the field, he spotted Thalos staring in his direction intently.
Even in the midst of these much crowd, the gargoyle was still able to pinpoint where he was?
That was some insane perception from Thalos.
’But doesn’t that mean that if he could sense me, Orion would too?’ Grey’s brows furrowed as he turned to look at the east booth.
Then he quickly shook his head.
’Actually if he did, he would have crashed this place already. The only plausible explanation is that Thalos has stayed with me for a while now to be able to register my aura in his brain.’
The announcer on seeing the amount of students lined up on the field suddenly scratched his head.
"Uh... wasn’t it six students we asked for?"
Rivock lifted his head and stared in the direction of the North booth.
"Pardon me." He said and then with a powerful kick of his feet, he vaulted backwards, metres away from the other participants.
"I’m not participating too." Thalos added as he also vaulted backwards leaving the others out front.
So currently, in front of the arena were five students from the Aetherian academy. They didn’t even look shocked by the actions of the duo.
The announcer looked ahead in confusion.
"Is this enough? You all are going to be fighting a Divine ranked beast."
Mada stepped forward and in a bit, stood directly in front of the group.
Weapon still sheathed in its scabbard.
"Bring it on."
A brief pause occured before the announcer sighed.
"Fine then."
Instantly, a tear in reality appeared two metres away from the students and it soon widened into a portal.
Out from it, the same type of beast the Noxarian academy fought against walked out.
Mist seeping out from its mouth as it glared at the students out front.
The portal behind it snapped shut instantaneously.
Without any prior warning, the beast kicked off with tremendous speed dashing towards Mada who stood in front of the group firmly.
