Chapter 780

"...."

A few seconds of silence permeated the air as the beast slid to the ground with a loud thud. Its head smashed in by Zach.

Everybody stared in shock at this feat as blood covered the ground beneath the orange tiger who panted heavily.

Sweat cascading down his face.

The next moment, thunderous cheers erupted around the arena as the spectators all stood up.

Their booming voices caused the whole coliseum to begin shaking due to the cacophony of screams.

Over six thousand humans screaming was enough to make the coliseum shake in anger and fright.

— Beautiful work. A stage five warrior defeating a divine ranked beast? That’s crazy work.

— Now I know why Zach earned his title as the number one student of the Noxarian academy. This is too good.

— Let’s not forget about those that contributed though. Without them, Zach wouldn’t have won.

— I don’t know about you all, but that sword user was the real MVP of this fight for me.

The comments of the spectators poured in while Grey crossed his hands while still remaining seated. 𝒻𝘳ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝒷𝘯ℴ𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝑐ℴ𝑚

’I shouldn’t lie, that was too impressive. I won’t undermine their battle because I know how difficult a Divine ranked beast is.

Although this beast is on the low, weakest side of a Divine ranked, it still is formidable and for a bunch of stage four warriors with a stage five warrior to defeat it, it’s too amazing.

But the issue is, will they be able to replicate the same thing in the next wave?’

***

Inside the north booth, the announcer looked towards the leader of the Umbrafell faction, Beatrix and elder Ron who stared outside with a calm expression on their faces.

"So Beatrix, what do you think? Will the orange tiger be a menace to your student?" Elder Ron asked.

"No. He isn’t strong enough. He is a mid stage five warrior at best but Mina is already at the high stage five warrior.

Just a little below me in strength. She is a once in a lifetime genius." Beatrix replied confidently without a change in her expression.

"Hopefully, she is worth the hype." Ken— leader of the Umbrafell faction added. "I guess this year’s tournament will be lovely."

***

In the west booth, the strongest vice leader of the Behemoth clan could be seen sitting.

Just like almost all members of the clan, he was built like a mountain seated on a chair and beside him was the leader of the watcher’s clan.

The leader had been sent here to look after the students of the Noxarian academy.

"Good. At least he didn’t shame us. Next wave."

***

"... Impressive work!" The announcer shouted with a cheerful glee.

"The students of the Noxarian academy has just cleared the first wave of beast. This is incredible work for a bunch of stage four warriors to do. And for that, the leader of the Umbrafell faction has decided to give you all an option for your excellent work."

Everybody leaned in wondering what option the students were about to gain.

"So do you all want to go back to your booth to rest, heal and prepare your mind for the second wave while another academy take on their first waves, or do you want to continue to the next wave? Note; this is a personal option to your academy specifically due to your impressive display.

The others may or may not get the same option."

Everybody paused staring at Zach who was still panting in mild exhaustion as he stared straight ahead at the north booth.

He then turned his gaze to his hands.

’Currently, I have just a tiny fraction of Ki left. I’m too exhausted to continue. Though, I could take one of the pills given to me, but it will only replenish my dantian for five minutes and that’s all. What if we aren’t able to defeat the second wave in time? What then?’

He clenched his hands with his teeth grinding back and forth as he lifted his head.

’Besides,’ he turned around to stare at his comrades who were all on their knees panting like people who ran a hundred metres race.

Some had cracked gauntlets, the sword user’s weapon was already destroyed and even though, he didn’t look to be in good shape at all.

’... I can’t do it alone. Unfortunately, the option is clear.’

Exhaling sharply, Zach lifted his head to stare right at the north booth.

"We will take the option to rest."

"..."

A few moments of silence was observed before the announcer replied;

"Good. You can head back to your booth, a healer will be sent your way and new weapons will be provided for the next wave. Congratulations on clearing the first wave; two points have been added to your scoreboard."

The moment the announcer said those words, the holographic display showed the three factions and beside the Noxarian faction, the number two was seen.

Seeing this, Zach forced a smile while his comrades beamed at his decision and with that, they began dragging their feet back to their booth.

"Okay," The announcer shouted and the ground where the short battle had taken place, began shifting and changing.

Right in front of the spectator’s eyes, the beast’s body disappeared along with the cracks and pool of black blood.

Grey was impressed.

’Why does this seem like... magic?’

"Let’s call on the next academy who will take their first wave in this first segment." The announcer’s voice was heard again.

And as if by instinct, all eyes turned to the second holographic display that began shuffling between the Aetherian and Umbrafell academy.

It shuffled so fast that nobody was able to keep track of until a few seconds later, it began slowly settling down.

Everybody leaned forward, breath hitching as they wondered who would be picked.

A second after, an academy was picked.

"The Aetherian academy are next!"

Grey’s heart thudded as he stared at the next fixture. His eyes naturally moved to the east booth that was now slowly opening up.

’The Aetherian academy? I-I will finally see my friends and allies after two months? I-I wonder how strong they must have become in this past two months.’
