Magus Supremacy-Chapter 789: An Absolute Lunatic (1)
Chapter 789
"Er... are you sure about that?" The announcer asked with a doubtful tone at Rivock’s claim.
The direct descendant didn’t rush to reply as he turned to look at Mada, Noelle, Ray, Finral and Liam who although were now standing, but barely.
Then he cocked his shoulders lightly with a nonchalant look on his face.
"I don’t think I stuttered, did I? I said; I will take on the next wave... alone and without any help."
"Are you mad?" Noelle asked with a frown on her face as she cast the direct descendant a glare.
Although among the three of them, Rivock was surely the strongest.
But if calculations served them right, the next wave will surely be about three Divine ranked beasts at once.
Was Rivock strong? Absolutely.
But strong enough to take on three Divine ranked beasts alone? The answer was unsure.
"Mad? I guess so." Rivock replied as the corner of his lips curled up slightly.
Mada didn’t say anything as he turned to cast a quick look at Thalos standing off to the side.
The leaders of Aetherian faction didn’t know that the ’student’ there was actually a gargoyle in disguise of a human.
Knowing their plans, he knew that Rivock had been the one training harder than they were and against a gargoyle who’s strength was just below the strongest rank of beast they knew.
Though he didn’t evolve to the next stage, he was quite close and even his aura was more different now.
With a tired sigh, Mada began dragging his feet away from the arena while heading towards the East booth.
"Just don’t disgrace me. You better clear the fifth wave too." He uttered over his shoulders.
Seeing as Mada was leaving, Noelle opened her mouth a few times to say something but words failed her miserably.
Even Liam, Finral and Ray were also walking off too choosing to pin their hopes on Rivock.
With that, the girl just sighed and then walked off too without saying anything more.
Their destination? The east booth. With this, they were declaring their resignation from this segment.
And the fact that Rivock hadn’t participated earlier nor actually left the arena, they weren’t going to get disqualified as the direct descendant represented the rest of them.
Seeing as the other injured students helped themselves to the East booth which proceeded to close them off from the arena, everybody now realized that the lone student was actually dead serious.
"Unlike the others," Thalos began with a bored expression on his face drawing all attention towards his way.
But the disguised gargoyle just looked into the crowd specifically at a spot in the crowd; a small smile curled his lips.
"I believe in you and your strength to clear all the waves. Which is why, I will be leaving too." He added and then walked off swiftly from the arena leaving Rivock all by himself.
"....."
Nobody could say anything again as all eyes were now fixed on the direct descendant who stood his ground arrogantly.
"Well? When is the portal opening up?" He asked indifferently while staring into the North booth.
There was a few seconds of silence before a voice was heard. This time, not from the announcer but leader Ken of the Umbrafell faction.
"From where I sit, I can feel the pure energy spilling from you which is why I want to give you an option." The man calmly spoke causing Rivock’s ears to perk up.
After a brief pause, Ken continued:
"... We in the Umbrafell faction believe in fairness and equality which is why I want to give you this. Since there’s no much time to spend and we still have the remaining academies to go through before the second segment, how about you clear your wave at once?"
Even with the fact that a leader of a big faction was speaking to him, Rivock remained unfazed.
"I’m listening?"
A pause. Then Ken continued:
"How about going through one massive wave and battle ten beasts all at once? Of course, this will birth your academy with twelve points. And also, you can choose to refuse and go through the waves like normal."
Hearing the proposal, everybody gasped in shock.
Battle ten Divine ranked beasts at once? This was tantamount to suicide as even a stage seven warrior could lose a limb or two battling them.
But then again,
’Hm. Twelve points?’ Grey mused inwardly as he cast a quick glance at Rivock. ’If he went through the waves as normal and managed to clear the remaining three, it will give the Aetherian academy just ten points and still, the others could reach them too.
Considering the fact that there’s still the second segment of the tournament we don’t know about yet. But going with this and gaining twelve points; this will be a total of sixteen points at the end of the segment instead of the normal ten.’
Meanwhile, Rivock on the other hand was contemplating his own choices.
’... Going with this, I might be forced to go all out. If I do, will I still have enough energy to fight afterwards?’ he mused inwardly as he cast a quick look towards the East booth.
The choice to choose was quite obvious and clear at this point... to those watching that is.
It was too risky to battle ten Divine ranked beasts all alone without any single help. He could even die in the process.
Only an absolute lunatic will choose to battle ten...
"Fine then. I will battle the ten Divine ranked beasts... alone." Rivock replied with an eerie calmness.
His reply sent everybody in absolute shock as they stared at him with wide eyes and open mouths.
Even the North and West booth were taken aback massively as they hadn’t expected the teen to actually accept this proposal.
Meanwhile, in the East booth, Rowen was chuckling in glee.
"That’s my son. He is my true blood. Never run from battle or any challenges thrown at you."
Grey just sighed in resignation.
’Of course, only a lunatic will go with this choice. And I almost forgot that Rivock is one hell of a crazy fellow.’
"Are you sure that this is what you want to do?"
Rivock shrugged.
"I was even about to suggest the same thing earlier so yeah, crank it up. I don’t mind."
— What?!
