Chapter 788

.....

Silence engulfed the whole coliseum.

The two Divine ranked beasts from the second wave of the ’Death Segment’ were dead?

A bunch of five students from the Aetherian academy actually managed to reach the second wave?

It was shocking hence everybody were silent for a few seconds.

Even the announcer was taken aback and wasn’t able to comment at all.

But the sudden claps and cheers from the crowd suddenly jolted him back to reality.

"Wow! Simply marvelous! The Aetherian academy actually managed to clear the second wave of the death segment. Compared to the Noxarian academy that paused at the first segment, this is too wonderful."

Inwardly though, where the announcer was which was the North booth, a frown appeared on the three figures sat on the chair.

Beatrix, Elder Ron and leader Ken of the Umbrafell faction stared in confusion.

"They actually cleared the second wave? This is crazy." Ken muttered with a scowl on his face which quickly switched back to a relaxed expression on his face.

"Who knew that the Aetherian faction have been busy all this time." Elder Ron chuckled mildly as he stroke his beard.

Beatrix kept her eyes affixed; not at the combatants, but at the other two who had been standing far behind since the start of the tournament.

Rivock and Thalos.

’And funny enough, these two didn’t join. Are they that strong? If so, this might actually be a tough match.’

....

Back outside, the cheers continued almost deafening Grey who sat calmly in his seat but a small smile flashed on his face behind the mask.

’Ah... I guess it was the right call to tell me to sit back and observe. They have all truly grown to be able to handle Divine ranked beasts? This is a massive win on my side. Now, I just have to wait for the perfect opportunity to crash this party.’

With them clearing the first two waves, Aetherian academy had four points which was displayed on the leaderboard above.

With the Noxarian academy having just two points.

While the Umbrafell academy which hadn’t participated yet, had just zero points.

Taking his gaze away from the leaderboard, Grey turned to look back at the Aetherian students who were all either on their knees or on their faces.

’... I need those Primordial cores. Aetherian academy has to climb high enough.’

Meanwhile, back at the arena, Ray could be seen dragging his feet back to the group with his hands looking almost mangled and blood dripped down the broken side and his lips.

In short, the group of five were in a terrible shape and might not be able to continue onto the next wave. They would have to take a break.

In the west booth, the vice leader of the Behemoth clan frowned immensely. His anger wasn’t even hidden back one bit as he cast a glare at the students of Noxarian academy.

"Can you see what you have done? We are number two on the leaderboard."

The leader of the watcher’s clan just facepalmed his face gently while keeping quiet.

Unfortunately, he didn’t have much authority to speak up. The last time he did, was to protect the students and that’s because he was put in charge for them and would have to give account to the leaders of the Noxarian faction if anything happened to them.

Even though Pluck was just the vice leader of the Behemoth clan, he still held immense power. After all, he didn’t earn his title of the strongest vice leader out of the three vice leaders of the Behemoth clan for nothing.

Since the Behemoth clan was also part of the big two clans in the Noxarian faction; unless he wanted his own small clan to get wiped off the surface of the planet, he had to keep his mouth shut and only intervene if the students were in danger.

....

Also, in the spectating stands; Alba fixed her eyes intently on the students of the Aetherian academy with a mixed expression on her face.

’Hold on. Did these kids just take care of three Divine ranked beast from both waves? A rank that took quite the number of us to hold back even though we were weakened?

Even if Grey didn’t actually interfere that day, we would have still taken care of it. Yet these kids managed to handle three?’

She paused her thoughts for a moment as she stared at the beasts’ bodies disappearing.

’... Although, the beasts are on the lower tier; possibly newly evolved Divine ranked beasts. But still, this is crazy. Each of those beasts should be able to crush them yet... what did I even expect? Grey is a monster on a whole different level so it’s right his friends try to match him too.’

Unknown to her, another monster was watching the battle with a chilling grin on his face.

’Ah... for the past two months, I didn’t have the time to check on the other descendants. But it turns out they actually put their all in training. They have visibly grown massively.’ Rivock mused inwardly with an almost amused smile on his face.

Finally, the announcer spoke up again.

"It’s obvious that the Aetherian academy students won’t be able to participate further again. So, do you want to pa—"

"No." Mada weakly groaned out stubbornly as he painfully began pushing himself off the ground.

In a moment, he staggered to his feet; blood dripping steadily from his mouth yet he clenched his sword tighter.

"Wh-What?" The announcer asked again.

"We... ack... we will continue onward." Mada replied amidst a cough of blood.

"Ah... stubborn fool. Rest up." A voice was now heard from behind the injured group.

Turning around, they could see Rivock walking forward with a chilling gait with the smile on his face as if it was glued there.

"... You have...you all have done enough. It’s time I step forth now." He added with a smirk as he stood in the center of attention.

Looking towards the North booth, he shrugged and added,

"I will take on the third wave... alone."
