Magus Supremacy-Chapter 796: Curiosity
Chapter 796
The students of the Umbrafell faction were currently panting hard. Sweat clung to their frames like a second skin.
Blood occasionally trickled down from some light, minor injuries on their bodies.
Mina on the other hand; after making that huge blast, she was weakened immensely hence she couldn’t join in on the battle.
But now, she staggered to her feet.
Sweat still dripping down her frame steadily as her eyes burned with determination while staring straight ahead at the North booth.
It was clear on what she wanted to do.
Meanwhile, Alba was comfortably sitting while reminiscing on the battle she had just seen for the past two hours or so.
’These kids... none of them are normal. From the Aetherian faction to the Umbrafell faction. All of them are monsters in their respective rights. This is crazy... in a good way.’ she mused inwardly as she watched Mina pant steadily.
’... This shows that the next generation aren’t so weak. The world could be safe in their hands. But still, when does Grey intend on executing the plan? I’m getting anxious here.’
A few seconds passed in heavy breaths before Mina croaked out.
"Next wave."
Everybody gasped in horror at her words. And that was because even a blind person could see that she and her team were currently weakened from the previous four waves.
They could barely defeat those beasts so how did they plan to defeat five beasts from the next wave without being in top shape?
That was wild.
Still, her teammates all staggered to their feet and clutched their weapons tightly.
Though suffered quite the number of cracks, they still held the weapon tightly while staring straight ahead.
It was clear. They weren’t about to let their faction down. They were all determined to make their leaders, academy and faction proud.
And by that, they weren’t about to give up when it’s just one wave left.
Even if the wave could probably take their lives, they weren’t about to back down now.
After a few seconds, the announcer asked,
"Are you sure about that?"
Mina nodded confidently while taking in deep breaths.
"Yes. Bring it on."
"Okay then. Here you go..."
A portal tore open with a crackling gust of wind hitting the students in their faces causing all hairs on their bodies to rise up.
Sweat dribbled down but they maintained their composure.
Soon enough, one by one; the same type of beasts began stepping out until five of them came out of the portal which snapped shut with a loud electrical-like buzz.
And with that, the battle began with more earnest.
Determination and Ki coursing their bodies pushing them to their absolute limit.
Grey was just calmly observing while occasionally throwing side glances at the North booth.
Where he sat down, he could easily see the east booth and also the west booth.
But to see the north booth was quite strenuous but he could still the peak of it.
Finally, he asked a question bothering him by turning towards one of the Umbrafell citizen sitting by his left.
"Uh... sorry good sir. But I have a question."
"Huh? What is it?"
Grey cleared his throat so as to appear curious which he actually was.
"Is this the first tournament held in the Umbrafell faction?"
The man shook his head.
"Nope. This is actually the third."
Grey raised an eyebrow behind the mask.
"Oh! So that means the Umbrafell academy has been holding the title for the strongest for three years now?"
The man nodded.
"Pretty much."
The Supreme Magus then tensed up slightly and asked the next question on his mind.
"So... how do the winners get their prizes?"
The man raised a brow at this question as he finally turned to look at who had been questioning him but unfortunately, he couldn’t see the man’s face.
Right at that time, Mina was just flung backwards by one of the beasts therefore breaking the students’ formation. 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝒆𝔀𝒆𝙗𝓷𝒐𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝓸𝓶
The battle became grim in an instant.
But Grey wasn’t concerned about it. He was solely focused on his mission.
The man finally shrugged.
"Since the Umbrafell faction usually win these tournaments for three years straight, they don’t bother doing much. So the prizes are usually with them in that booth.
To make it easier for them to take the prizes back when they won. Sometimes, they don’t even bother bringing the prizes with them. That’s how confident they usually are."
"Oh! But wouldn’t it be wise to keep the prizes back at the academy? I mean; one could actually decide to attack them and steal the prizes from the booth." Grey asked with a more curious tone so as to mask his attention.
That was when a bang was heard and all heads turned to see Mina back in action and this time, her spear shoned with brilliant orange cadence.
The Umbrafell citizen just shrugged.
"Nobody or faction is foolish enough to start a war with the Umbrafell faction over those prize? It’s a waste of time, manpower and would just bred war hence they don’t even care and just try harder each year."
"I see." Grey rubbed his chin with a smirk as he turned his face away. "Thank you for answering."
The man didn’t even reply as his attention was now solely fixed on the battle below.
Two beasts had been taken down during the duration of their chats.
But in the process, two students were critically injured that they couldn’t participate in the battle therefore putting the others in a pretty tight spot.
Grey was actually in deep thought after his small talk.
’So... I don’t have to stress myself. I can just walk into the North booth and take... no! Not yet. I can’t underestimate those leaders. They are powerful and could cause me some problems.
Let’s see. They will be forced to give us those prizes soon.’
A puncture appeared on Mina’s side oozing out blood as she forced her body to bend low to avoid a claw slash before stabbing her spear into the abdomen of a beast.
The spear ignited and burned through the Divine ranked beast leaving two more to deal with.
Leaving the others, the two beasts instantly focused all their attention on Mina and this gave the others time to grimly support as she weaved in between strikes while delivering her own.
Minutes stretched continuously until thirty minutes of fighting past before the last beast hit the ground and with it, the Umbrafell students all slumped in unison with Mina barely keeping herself upright with her spear embedded in the ground.
Blood oozing from her side while she stared in grimace at the massacre of beasts on the ground.
Her teammates were all out cold as they had been running on low fumes throughout.
That was it. The Umbrafell academy actually managed to clear all five waves of the first segment of the tournament!
