Chapter 799

"Okay... we are back," the announcer uttered.

Twenty minutes had passed since the announced break. ๐“ฏ๐™ง๐“ฎ๐“ฎ๐’˜๐“ฎ๐™—๐™ฃ๐’๐’—๐’†๐“ต.๐“ฌ๐“ธ๐’Ž

Not all the people there actually went out, but those that did took quite a while, so an extra ten minutes was given.

Both for the crowd to return and also to settle into their seats comfortably.

It took a while, but finally, they all settled down.

Grey, on the other hand, hadnโ€™t moved an inch throughout this break as he sat like a statue of some kind.

Even the three booths hadnโ€™t opened up, talk more of anybody stepping out to go use the bathroom or something.

Well, not like the Supreme Magus actually cared though.

"... So, Iโ€™m just getting feedback from the healers that the Noxarian students are all awake. Thatโ€™s good. Now; letโ€™s talk about the second segment."

Grey didnโ€™t actually look particularly interested in this segment as he remained stiff, his eyes darting around the crowd instead.

As his gaze moved, his fingers were also moving across his laps.

Lips running beneath the mask as if calculating something silently.

Soon enough, some people in the crowd began yelping about a faint pricking sensation too.

"... So what is this second segment?" The announcer asked rhetorically as he prepared to answer himself.

"This will be a battle royale style segment."

The crowd edged forward in anticipation at the manโ€™s words.

"Yes. Battle royale in the sense that each academy has five to ten minutes to decide on their best three students. Pick your best three students who will be participating in this segment."

A brief pause followed.

"... Three students from the three academies. Thatโ€™s about nine students out on the arena, and they will have to battle it out. Make sure your opponent canโ€™t stand up at all after you are done with them.

The last student(s) standing takes the win for their academy. And for this segment; itโ€™s actually worth ten points, so whoever wins, the points will be added to their scoreboard, calculated, and the winning academy will be announced afterwards."

The crowd nodded amongst each other while mumbling for a few seconds before the announcer continued again.

"... The rules are simple. Knock your opponent totally out. Donโ€™t deliver a killing strike, otherwiseโ€”unless you want to cause a war, that is.

An opponent can choose to forfeit or accept defeat. I think thatโ€™s about all for the rules on this segment. So, you can begin choosing your top three."

In the East booth, the moment the announcer was done speaking, the leaders all turned to face each other.

Except Orion, that is.

"So... I feel like the options are clear here, right?" Rowen said. "The three direct descendants are the obvious choice here, as only them can bring that win for us."

"... Sending your son out there is actually cheating if we think about it," Selene chimed in with a sneer. "He could easily body anybody the academies send out alone."

Rowenโ€™s lips raised slightly.

"At least you now know how useless your child is compared to mine."

A frown appeared on the womanโ€™s face as her teeth began grinding back and forth in restrained rage.

"You court death, Rowen. I donโ€™t recall the exact time I gave you permission to trash talk my daughter like that."

Rowen smirked at her.

"I trash talk anybody I want. Do your worst."

Hearing the threat, Selene angrily moved her hand towards her whip when Orion finally spoke out.

"We are literally in enemy territory, and the leaders of the Aetherian faction are behaving like kids?"

Rowen didnโ€™t say anything as he merely scoffed and threw his head aside, staring at the direct descendants who were all conversing with one another calmly.

Orion, regardless, continued.

"Itโ€™s like you said. Let the direct descendants go ahead. Whether anybody bodies the other doesnโ€™t matter. Victory only matters."

Selene relaxed back in her seat with an indifferent shrug.

Without even looking up or taking his gaze off the glassy booth, Orion uttered calmly,

"Fenz... do inform the kids of this decision so they get ready."

Hearing the words, Fenrir nodded as he began striding away towards the kids.

His disguised name in the Waterfall Clan was Fenz.

For years now, he had kept that identity going while using magic circles to alter his face and aura.

All for the day he would finally be able to take his revenge.

Fenrir informed the kids of the decision, and they nodded along in understanding.

The man lingered for a few seconds longer before walking away.

He finally stood directly behind Orion, maintaining his detached expression.

A few seconds later, Mada could be seen sauntering over.

The leaders cast him a brief glance before turning away when they saw him approach Orion.

Finally, the man tore his gaze away as he watched his son kneel directly in front of him.

Head bowed, sword placed carefully on the ground beside him.

"Leโ€” Father," Mada began with a careful tone as Orion stared at him with clear confusion.

"... I have always worked hard just to please Gunther and not be seen as a drag, a weakling, or a burden."

As he spoke, Gunther turned to stare at the scene with a strange glint forming in his eyes.

"But today; I want to tell you that Iโ€™m determined to make you proud. The Umbrafell faction has held the title of the strongest for years now.

And I have decided that the Aetherian faction will be the one to take that title. I promise you, I will make you proud.

I will continue to grow stronger to show you that Iโ€™m well deserving of the throne of the Waterfall Clan.

I might not be strong enough to become the figurehead of the Aetherian faction, but I promise to be strong enough to inherit the Waterfall Clan."

As he spoke, he tightened his grip on his sword in grim determination while keeping his head bowed.

Orion didnโ€™t respond immediately as he stared at his son for several seconds.

Even the other leaders turned to look at the determined promise Mada had made.

Then, a small smile appeared on Orionโ€™s face as he nodded.

"Good. Donโ€™t disappoint me."

Mada smiled faintly while keeping his head bowed.

"I wonโ€™t."

Orion nodded and was about to turn his gaze away whenโ€”

"Anโ€”and father?"

Orion lifted an eyebrow as he turned to look at his son.

"Thank you..."

"For?"

Mada smiled as a tear slid down his face.

"... For this opportunity."

VOOOMโ€”!

Mada sprang forward like a bolt of lightning.

His speed surged to immense heights, catching everybody completely off guard.

His sword was clutched tightly in his hand as he hauled it forward, the blade streaking towards Orionโ€™s neck at blazing speed while the other leaders could only stare in confusion and sheer astonishment.
