Magus Supremacy-Chapter 862: Not Falling!
Chapter 862
The bright beam erupted too quickly for even Orion to fully process, but the hybrid was not prepared to suffer defeat today.
A luminous obsidian wave of visible Ki burst forth from his entire being, colliding violently with the concentrated stream of lightning.
The terrain buckled almost instantly under the pressure as dust and jagged debris billowed into the darkened skies.
This dark tide pushed the lightning beam back with overwhelming force, even sending the redirected energy speeding toward Kira while the primary wave continued its path onward.
But the Phoenix had already vanished from that coordinate.
Twirling around like a sharp, whistling arrow, Orion brought his claws down toward where the avian’s head had been a second prior.
Seeing the approaching pincers, Kira quickly teleported out of the vicinity, allowing Orion’s talons to crash into the earth and tear the ground open.
Rumble—! Rumble—!
Orion quickly vaulted backward just in time as a jagged earth pillar burst from the soil, attempting to impale him, but he was already long gone.
At that exact moment, Thalos closed the distance with a full, sweeping arc of his greatsword, which was deflected by the hybrid’s resilient claws.
The terrain beneath their feet cracked, a deep and wide chasm appearing around the combatants.
Orion swung his foot toward the gargoyle, his physical movements amplified by the dark ripples of Ki which boosted his velocity to exponential heights.
Then, all of a sudden, the Thalos who was positioned directly before him was instantly ten meters away, causing Orion’s kick to strike the ground harmlessly, shattering the stone in an instant.
Turning to glare in Grey’s direction, he saw the Supreme Magus wearing a subtle smirk.
Realizing that a spatial shift had occurred, he was about to give chase when Kira materialized before him, a hundred lightning feathers rocketing toward the man like guided missiles.
Leaping back for a moment, Orion’s claws began clashing with the feathers at a pace the human eye was unable to follow.
Each collision of his pincers with the electrified plumage sent a jolt of agony tearing through his system, yet he persisted, parrying and pulling them down.
Kira was far from finished as she blitzed forward, weaving expertly through her own lightning feathers with talons pointed forward, ready to rend Orion’s scales.
Swiftly, the hybrid bent low with even greater speed, dodging the talons which whistled past him.
Only for an earth pillar to smash directly into his face, snapping his head backward for a brief moment.
A shadow was suddenly cast over him.
Thalos could be seen suspended in the air with his greatsword lifted high above his head, poised to decimate the hybrid’s skull in half.
Swinging his hands upward, Orion intercepted the heavy hit, causing the ground to shatter beneath his feet as debris went flying into the air.
They remained frozen in a struggle of pure strength for a few seconds, only for the obsidian waves to surge from his palms.
The energy bashed into Thalos with the momentum of a runaway train, flinging the gargoyle away from his position.
Then, in one fluid breath, Orion twisted his heel, ducked, and smashed his claws into Grey’s torso, causing a spray of blood to erupt from the mage’s mouth.
His hands froze, Clara still gripped in his fingers, mere inches away from Orion’s head.
Then, with a sound-breaking bang, the mage’s body flew through the air like a broken doll, hurtling backward with immense speed.
Two beams of lightning immediately burst out from Kira’s mouth, smashing into Orion with such force that they burned through his gleaming scales before sending him flying backward.
Ricocheting across the hard ground, the hybrid dug his claws into the earth, pulling himself into a grinding halt while the terrain was torn apart by his sheer momentum.
Thalos was already charging forward, launching a massive swing of his greatsword toward the beast’s head.
Confusingly, the distance between Orion and the heavy blade still seemed quite significant.
That was when the reality of the spatial manipulation clicked in the hybrid’s head.
’I’m not falling for that again!’
The distance between them diminished in a heartbeat.
Simultaneously, dark waves surged around the man’s feet, boosting his speed and allowing him to leap to the side just in time to dodge the greatsword as it hammered into the ground with destructive force.
Before Orion could steady his footing, four portals immediately manifested around his position.
From their depths, more than a thousand fireballs burst out with incredible speed, detonating against his face with terrifying intensity.
"Explomb! Explomb! Explomb!" Grey could be heard screaming like a madman with every frantic swing of his hands.
The fireballs kept detonating with massive force, creating a continuous chain of heat and pressure.
Then, with a loud roar, Orion dashed forward, breaking past the encirclement of the portals.
In his path stood Kira, a pair of lightning spears gleaming from her talons.
Quickly smashing his pincer-like claws into the ground, the earth tore open.
Twenty Ki swords burst forth from his shoulders, smashing into the spears before they could even leave the phoenix’s grip.
The overwhelming force of the counter-attack sent the avian flying backward through the haze.
A shadow fell over the hybrid. 𝒻𝑟ℯℯ𝑤𝑒𝑏𝑛𝘰𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝒸𝑜𝘮
Glancing up, he saw Grey in the air with Clara gripped tightly, raised high above his head.
Twisting to the side, Orion avoided the descending strike from above, which cleaved into the ground and kicked up a massive cloud of dust.
Vanishing from where he stood, Grey suddenly reappeared directly behind Orion with a lethal slash aimed at his exposed back.
Ki flooded Clara with deadly intent, followed by the lightning element, which wrapped itself around the blade like a second skin.
Inches away from landing on the man’s back, Orion swirled around with his claws poised to deflect the incoming steel.
A smirk curved Grey’s lips at the sight of the hybrid’s reaction.
The mage immediately let go of his sword, letting it free-fall through the air.
He then grabbed Orion’s poised claw before swinging his head forward, bashing his forehead against the man’s skull with all his might.
The impact left a deep gash on the mage’s head that streaked blood down his face, while Orion remained strangely fine, a confused look appearing on his features at what the mage intended to achieve by such a move.
"Folding."
That was all Grey said before vanishing from sight.
All the hairs on Orion’s body rose up immediately as he spun around.
He was too late; he saw Kira’s talons right in his face.
Before he had the opportunity to react, the phoenix dug her talons deep into the hybrid’s shoulders.
His formidable defense couldn’t hold up under the pressure; the talons pierced through his scales before the phoenix twirled around like a spinning wheel, clobbering the hybrid into the ground and throwing a huge mound of debris into the air.
Black ichor splattered into the atmosphere, marking the first real sign of the monster’s waning invincibility.
