Chapter 243: Winning

"...Huh?" Larry mumbled in confusion, his gaze lingering on Leon who stood in the distance.

His body was moving so sluggishly, to the point where it seemed like he was barely moving.

He hurriedly tried channeling his mana, however, it was flowing so slowly, almost as if he wasn’t even channeling it.

’Damn... it...’ He thought, gnashing his teeth in frustration.

"I told you, too slow." Leon’s voice echoed in his ears once more, and before he knew it, the boy suddenly reappeared in front of him.

Larry’s eyes widened in shock, with his hands slowly trembling in fear.

He didn’t understand... how did Leon close in on him so easily. Last time he checked, he was still standing across him, then all of a sudden, he was standing in front of him.

Pa!

Leon swiftly swung his hand towards Larry’s face, landing a dirty slap which rippled across his face.

"Agh!" The boy grunted in pain as his face was rudely smacked to the side, causing his cheeks to redden with a painful sting.

Leon quickly followed up with a punch, swinging his fist once again towards Larry’s face.

Thwack!

His fist landed squarely on the boy’s nose, causing a dull sound which reverberated in the air.

’D-damn... it. I can’t react... he’s too fast!’ Larry thought, gnashing his teeth in frustration as his nose burned with pain.

The pain from each attack was slow, yet agonising. Though it was just a punch, his face kept stinging from the pain even after the attack.

He could feel a warm liquid slowly drip down his nostrils, reminding him of his embarrassing predicament.

None of all this made any sense to him.

All of Leon’s attack seemed like blurs to him, which shouldn’t be possible, since he was a combat mage.

Combat mages were known for their high physical capabilities, among which naturally included strength and speed.

Leon was nothing more than an average human, so how come his attacks were too fast for him to react to?!

Although he was still a stage one combat mage, he should still be at least thrice stronger and faster than Leon, who was nothing more than trash.

However, he couldn’t even get his mana to flow properly for some reason, and his body kept moving so sluggishly.

"You’re confused aren’t you?" Leon said, suddenly halting his fist right in front of Larry’s face.

Seeing the fist in front of him, combat mage’s trembled in fear, and he swallowed down a hard gulp.

Though he didn’t want to admit it, he knew another attack would have hit his face if Leon hadn’t paused his fist.

Nonetheless, he also saw another thing... a chance, to finally attack!

’Don’t... underestimate... me!’ He thought, slowly clenching his fists in anger.

He hurriedly tried channeling his mana, only to be met with disappointment due to how slowly his mana was flowing.

Despite all his efforts, his mana core remained unresponsive, causing him to gnash his teeth in frustration.

However, he didn’t dwell too long on that.

Standing in front of him was Leon, giving him the perfect chance to attack. Even if he was fast, there was no way he wouid be able to react to an attack at this range.

’Take... this...’ He thought, thrusting his fist towards Leon’s abdomen with all his strength.

However, his hand simply moved sluggishly through the air, before connecting softly with Leon’s abdomen.

’N-no... no!!’ He thought, his eyes widening in shock.

"Hmm..." Leon hummed, looking down at the fist softly touching his stomach, and his lips slowly curled into a wide smirk.

"Is that the best you can do?" He said, the smirk on his face widening as he tightly gripped Larry’s hand.

"Well, that’s too bad... don’t you think?" His grip got even tighter, and he raised the combat mage’s hand up, revealing his bloodied face.

Larry could only watch helplessly, as Leon smugly looked down on him.

Pulling his hand back, Leon swiftly thrusted his fist towards Larry’s face once more.

Thwack!

The punch connected sweetly with the boy’s nose, and a low cracking sound echoed in the air.

"Argh!" Larry let out a strained grunt of pain, his body slowly staggering backwards.

The punch left his nose bent weirdly to the side, with thick blood slowly dripping down his nostrils.

His nose kept burning with pain, which only got worse with each passing second.

’It’s not over yet... Larry!’ Leon thought, tightly gripping the combat mage by his shoulders.

Blam!

Raising his left, he swiftly drove his knee into the boy’s stomach, with a wide smirk on his face.

"Agh..." Larry grunted in pain, his back arching backwards from the strike.

His eyes widened in agony, as a sharp pain slowly spread from his stomach, all through his torso.

Thwam!

Without wasting anytime, Leon quickly followed up with a swift uppercut to Larry’s jaw, which sent the boy crashing to the ground.

"Argh!!" The combat mage grunted in pain, as his teeth forcefully bit down on his tongue, sending a sharp jolt of pain all through his head.

His body’s speed suddenly returned to normal at that moment, however, it was already too late, as he was already falling to the ground.

Thwack!

His back slammed into the ground with force, and a sharp rush of pain spread across his spine.

"Kukh! Kukh!" He kept coughing violently, gasping in pain as blood gushed out of his nose.

’I... wasn’t even able to land a scratch on him...’ He mumbled inwardly, slowly stretching his trembling fist at Leon in anger.

However, his hand eventually dropped to the ground, as he finally lost consciousness.

"Easy..." Leon mumbled, feeling a strange rush of gratification well up within him as he stared at the unconscious figure of Larry.

For some reason, each punch he landed on Larry’s face sent a spark of excitement coursing his body.

Perhaps he was being a little sadistic, but he didn’t really care.

Meanwhile, the last boy stared at the scene before him with his eyes widened in shock.

"W-what... m-monster..." He mumbled, slowly staggering back in fear.

If he wanted to attack before, then he didn’t anymore, not after seeing how Leon easily knocked down Larry.

"Huh?" Leon muttered, directing his gaze at the boy standing across him. ’Ohh, there’s still one remaining.’

"S-stay away fr—"

While the boy was still speaking, Leon swiftly pulled out a pen from his pocket, before flinging it towards the boy.

Light green sparks rapidly flickered around the pencil as it flew through the air, closing in on the boy almost immediately.

Pa!

The butt of the pen slammed into the boy’s forehead with force, and his body immediately dropped to the ground, unconscious.

As for the pen, it simply fell back to the ground, bouncing a few times before coming to a halt.

"Hmph." Leon snorted, tucking his hands into his pockets. "Winning... doesn’t feel bad at all."
