Manaless Mage-Chapter 244: New skills
Chapter 244: New skills
As for what he did to that pen, he simply speeded up the flow of time around it, causing the speed and power to increase greatly.
This was why the boy had been knocked out so easily, even though he was only hit by the butt of the pen.
During the past week, he had tremendously developed his time element through intense training and practice.
Controlling the power was a little difficult at the start, but he eventually got the hang of it, learning how to use it freely.
Unlike the first time when he could only use time freeze in a small, enclosed space, his range had greatly expanded.
Although it wasn’t as large as he wanted yet, freezing time in somewhere like this alley was now quite easy for him, which made him glad.
One thing he had noticed during his training was that ’normal people’ couldn’t see the green sparks or light that appeared whenever he used his time element.
It was the same with his energy, as they were both invisible for some reason.
He confirmed this when his mum walked in on him training his time element. Though he quickly cancelled the skill, the green sparks were still lingering in the air, which she easily should have noticed.
However, she didn’t even notice anything, instead, she consoled him, thinking he was still depressed about his manaless condition.
He confirmed this again when he channeled his energy in front of his parents, but just as he had expected, they didn’t sense anything strange also.
The discovery naturally made him happy, as it meant he didn’t worry about people finding out the truth about his element.
This was why he was able to use his power freely when fighting against Larry and the two other boys, as there were no risks involved.
He had also learnt two new skills he could use with his time element, each one powerful in its own right.
The first was "Speed up", and just as the name implied, it accelerated the flow of time around the desired target, greatly increasing its speed.
The skill was quite versatile, as it could be used to accelerate his attacks, and also to boost his speed.
The second skill he developed was the literal opposite of the first. Unlike "speed up" which increased the flow of time around a target or area, this one greatly decelerated it, thereby greatly reducing its kinetic energy.
He called it "snail’s world", due to special effect.
During his fight with Larry, he had used the skill against the combat mage, causing the boy’s attacks and flow of mana to suddenly become sluggish.
His original plan had been to extend the domain of the skill all over the alley, however, his energy was still too small to do something like that.
Compared to [Speed up], using [Snail’s world] was a lot more stressful to maintain as it consumed a considerable amount of energy.
Perhaps it was due to the fact that he was slowing down the flow of time, but he had to pour in twice more focus to utilize it.
Nonetheless, he wasn’t complaining, as he was sure he would improve in it with more training.
’I’m exhausted...’ He mumbled inwardly, letting out a light sigh.
Although he didn’t shown it during the fight, using all those skills continuously had taken quite a toll on his energy, leaving him tired.
"Whatever... at least it’s over now." He muttered, gently picking up his back from the ground.
He swiftly slung it over his shoulders, before walking out of the alley, leaving the three unconscious boys who were still lying on the ground.
’At least now, they wouldn’t dare look for my trouble again.’ He thought, his lips curling into a smug smirk.

Huff! Huff!
Leon kept panting heavily, sprawling over the surface of his bed.
He let out a low sigh of relief, feeling a wave of comfort wash over him as his back sunk into the soft foam of the bed.
He had just completed his daily routine of channeling his energy for hours, which left him completely exhausted.
His mother saw him again, but all she gave him was a look of pity and concern, thinking he was still trying so desperately to deny his reality.
"Tsk." Leon let out a low hiss, thinking about his current relationship with his parents.
Although he hated to admit it, he knew their points were quite sound as they were only worried about him.
He still planned on revealing his awakened element to them, he just couldn’t find the right time to do so.
Besides, he wasn’t sure if that would be the right thing to do, as the truth about his power was anything but normal.
Knowing his parents, especially his mom, there was a chance they would freak out, coming up with the wildest possible imaginations on how he possibly awakened an element like that.
The situation would have been more explainable if it had been a more common element like fire, water or even light.
However, everything was quite complicated as his element was one that had even never been recorded before.
With the look of things, he could already see himself living out the rest of his living without telling anyone about the truth of his power.
"Argh!" Leon grunted, rustling his hand through his hair. "All this is so annoying to think about..."
’All that aside...’ He mumbled inwardly, his expression suddenly twisting into a frown.
’I still haven’t heard from Harry since that day.’ Leon thought, his brows furrowing slightly in confusion.
It had been two days since Harry’s father came to pick up him, and even since then, he still hadn’t heard from the boy.
He had tried reaching out to him countless times, however, he didn’t get any response.
He was starting to worry, thinking something might have really happened this time.
Ever since that day, Larry and those two other boys avoided him like a plague, unwilling to face such humiliation again.
But despite how peaceful his school life was during these past two days, he was extremely bored.
Harry was pretty much the only friend he had in the academy, even though there were high differences between their social status.
’I really hope everything is okay with him.’ He thought, gently resting the back of his head on the palm of his hands.
’I rea—’
Knock!
A light knock suddenly sounded behind his door, breaking him out of his thoughts.
’Now what is this again?’ Leon thought, his brows furrowing into a slight frown. "You can come in... mom."
