Manaless Mage-Chapter 258: I’ll end this quick
Chapter 258: I’ll end this quick
"Nah, that’s the wrong way to put it..." The man said, tightly gripping his spear as he slowly rose back up on his feet.
"A better way would be... I’ve been waiting for you, manaless mage!" He shouted again, causing the frown on Leon’s face to deepen in confusion.
’He also knows...’ He thought, gracefully landing back on his feet.
His gaze repeatedly travelled from the pale man to Harry, and his eyes slowly widened in realisation.
’T-this... don’t tell me!’ Just as he had that thought, the figure of Harry standing before him rapidly dissolved into tiny water bubbles.
Everything around him also dissolved into tiny bubbles, with the only real thing left being the huge pale man.
’It was a trap!’ He thought, narrowing his eyes at the sight before him.
After the bubbles finally cleared away from his view, his surroundings changed completely.
There were still mana beasts around, however, they were all lying dead on the floor, along with countless bodies of adventurers.
He could recognise some of them, as comrade he once fought alongside, but they were all dead now.
’Keel, Leroy...’ He mumbled some of their names inwardly, tightly clenching his fists in frustration.
At first, he thought him reappearing so far up in the skies was just a coincidence, however, he had been too careless.
The first thing he should have done was to scan the surroundings using his energy sense, rather than charging in head-first with an attack.
’Him showing me all that... was all to purposely lure me down here!!’ He thought, the image of a certain grey haired man appearing in his mind.
"L-Leon... you’re finally here." A familiar voice suddenly called out to him from behind, jolting him out of his thoughts.
He slowly turned his head around, looking at the one who spoke.
Harry finally came in his view, however, his condition was far from good.
The brown haired mage had a lot of cuts and lacerations all around his armour, and blood slowly trailed from the corner of his lips.
Fortunately, the armour given to him by the AMO was very special, as it not only granted healing to its wearer, but also greatly boosted their mana recovery speed.
The armour was also embedded with self-regenerative properties, so as long as it wasn’t totally destroyed, it could heal on its own without consuming any mana.
Harry kept panting heavily, however, his strength was rapidly being recovered by the armour.
The cuts around his armour rapidly regenerated themselves, and the wounds accumulated on his body started healing.
"Harry... Anna..." Leon muttered, his gaze shifting from Harry unto the amber haired woman fighting off a huge mana beast some distance away.
The beast was a rank seven mana beast, with a long thick horn poking out of its forehead, and a large body like that of a bear.
However, it was clearly on the losing end, as the injuries on its body kept piling up, to the point where it could barely move.
’They’ve been fighting... all these while.’ Leon thought, gnashing his teeth in frustration.
"Leon... I’m sorry, the beasts... they kept pouring out. And..." Harry said, turning his face to the ground in self-disappointment.
"Don’t worry, you don’t have to explain everything." Leon said, cutting him off his words.
"Focus on killing all those mana beasts... I’ll handle this one myself." Leon said, narrowing his eyes at the large spear man.
The strange man sported thick yellow hair, which fell down the sides of his face.
All he had on was a set of pitch black trousers and a huge white boot, which was decorated with some weird markings.
"This one...? How arrogant of you manaless mage, but did you really think I’m here alone?" He said, planting the tip of his spear into the ground.
"Fufufu!" The moment he said that, the air beside him suddenly dissolved into water bubbles, and a weird laugh drifted into Leon’s ears.
A short woman appeared in front of him, sitting lazily on a large water cloud.
She had dark green hair, and a pair of large eyes which contrasted greatly with her stature.
On her hands were a set of huge bracelets, glowing with a dim blue hue.
"It’s you... the one who made this illusion." Leon said, narrowing his eyes at the strange woman.
"Yeah..." The woman replied, flashing an innocent smile at him.
"The original plan was to have you kill your little dearly over there." She said, lazily pointing her hand at Anna, who was still fighting back the waves of mana beast.
"Too bad little Krony couldn’t perform his part." She said, letting out a light sigh.
"How dare you...?" Leon muttered, gnashing his teeth in annoyance.
Swoosh!
A powerful wave of energy suddenly exploded out of him, sweeping across the whole area in an instant.
By the time the wave died down, a large white dome had already formed behind him, covering Harry, Anna and the rest of the AMO within it.
"L-Leon!" Anna said, staring at him with her eyes widened in shock.
She had alreasy defeated the huge mana beast, remaining only the smaller ones which didn’t pose much threat to her.
"You can’t face them alone!" She shouted, dashing towards him in worry.
However, she soon slammed into the dome, the impact sending a soft pulse around its surface.
"Let us help you... please!" She kept slamming on the dome as she spoke, but it didn’t budge.
"Leon just listen to her, you can’t—"
"No!" Leon suddenly said, cutting Harry off his words.
"They’re here for me, the reason all of this happened is because of me." He said, tightly clenching his fists to the point where his nails dug deeply into his palms.
"I can’t let anyone else die because of me. It’s all my fault... so I’ll fix it." He said, narrowing his eyes at the two celestials standing in front of him.
He had already activated his energy sense, so he could easily ’see’ that their mana was exactly the same as Kronos.
With his energy sense, he was able to get a good read of their strength and power.
There was no way he would make the mistake of not using his energy to scan them again, or else he would fall into another stupid illusion.
’They’re really powerful, but... I won’t lose!’ He thought, his gaze burning with a mix of anger and determination.
Meanwhile, behind him, Anna’s face was frozen as she watched Leon slowly walk away from them.
’Even after everything... I’m still too weak to stand by his side.’ She thought, punching the white dome again in frustration.
Something similar to this had happened many times before, where Leon was forced to fight the enemy alone, leaving them at the sidelines.
Though he mostly won, she could still remember how much pain she felt watching him suffer alone like that.
It was why she swore to get stronger... one of the main reasons why she worked as hard as she did. All so she would be able to fight by his side and lift some of his burden.
Nonetheless, nothing really changed at the end.
Although it pained her to admit it, she could tell she was no match for any of the two standing before Leon. She was just too weak compared to them. freewёbnoνel.com
"Hey, don’t think too much it." Harry said, lightly tapping her shoulder. "We just have to trust him, and clear all the mana beasts... just like he said we should."
He also felt similar to the way she did, but he suppressed it, focusing on the matter at hand instead.
"Yeah..." The woman muttered, slowly backing away from the surface of the dome.
"Handicapping yourself while going against two powerful celestials, seems you’re not just arrogant manaless mage, but also stupid." The pale man said, swiftly pulling his spear out of the ground.
"Fufufu... I’ve heard different things about you manaless mage, I hope you don’t disappoint me."
"Just ship up... stop calling me ’that’." Leon said, with a deep frown on his face.
He couldn’t stand the way they kept calling him ’manaless mage’, it was really annoying.
His ears were already starting to itch from how much he had heard those two words this few minutes alone. First it was Kronos, now these two!
"I’ll make you all regret it, I’ll make you regret ever messing with me." He said, stretching his hands to the side a little.
A pair of short swords swiftly materialised between his hands, and he tightly gripped them, staring at his opponents in anger.
Fwoosh!!
An even more powerful wave of energy immediately bursted out of his body, and a thick white flame appeared over his body, coating him in its power.
He swiftly channeled his energy to the short swords in his hands, and the flame flowed down to the blades.
"Yes! That’s more like it!" The large pale man shouted, pointing the tip of his spear at Leon.
"I’ll end this quick." Leon muttered, swiftly dashing towards them, propelling himself with a powerful burst of energy.
The grin on the pale man face widened even more, and he immediately charged at Leon also, skilfully swinging his spear in his hands.
