Chapter 147: Memories

"Inkadon controlled Katherine to kill me, and when I broke the control, I wiped some of her memories." Sage reported quickly and caught her breath harshly. "Please do something, I think she has forgotten that she and River are... in love." Sage came to a halt as she noticed Cyrus staring at her as if he were watching an interesting play.

Was he making fun of her?

"I only need your assistance." Sage said with a frown. 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝔀𝓮𝒃𝙣𝓸𝒗𝒆𝒍.𝙘𝒐𝒎

"You are absolutely adorable." Cyrus laughed darkly and stood up, hands in his pockets. "I do not care about their relationship, and how do you know I can resurrect her memories?" He inquired as he leisurely walked down the stairs.

"I am not sure... I am not sure." Sage muttered.

Did Cyrus’s dark state make him unconcerned about his best friend? She needed to find a way to persuade Cyrus to restore Katherine’s memory.

She lowered her head and her eyes darted around in panic, unsure what to do.

"You are not worried about yourself, arrogant parrot," Cyrus, who was now standing in front of her, whispered as he leaned in close to hers and raised her head to look at him.

"She is a friend of mine." Sage muttered under her breath.

"A friend who will outlive you," Cyrus hissed.

Sage rolled her eyes, having had enough of his words. "Aren’t you sick of repeating yourself?" She asked, placing her hands on his shoulders to push him away.

"No," Cyrus replied casually, holding her wrists. "Not really," he added with a menacing smile.

"Well, you should be tired and just wait until the day you kill me." She said sternly, clutching his coat tightly.

"Feisty." Cyrus hummed and relaxed her wrists. "Very well." He added as he walked past her.

"But you will have to follow me around until I get tired of your presence before I agree to help her regain her memories." Her eyes widened as she heard him say it.

He wanted her to follow her around until he was tired of seeing her? She knew he would get tired of her sooner than she thought because he was in his dark state and had no feelings for her, but she wished she could read his mind. He was highly unpredictable.

"I do not have a choice," Sage grumbled.

"In fact, you do." Cyrus abruptly stated, and she turned to face him, only to find him staring at her with those emotionless blue slit eyes.

"I do?" She inquired, perplexed.

"You have scrolls to finish, skills to learn, but here you are, wanting to follow me around just to help a friend who isn’t even dead yet." Cyrus shook his head slowly and spoke with disdain. "What should I address you as? Dumb?" He inquired, chewing his lower lip.

Sage stared at Cyrus in disbelief, wishing she could read his mind even more. "I know.... But memories are more important, and she knows where the other mages are; she has been protecting them, and I desperately need to find them."

"You are not permitted to leave Antica without my permission, and memories... are useless." Sage narrowed her eyes as Cyrus scoffed.

"That is not correct. Even the most painful memories are not useless." Sage stated firmly and scoffed in disbelief, crossing her arms across her chest.

"Remembering them brings back emotions and makes me want to taste vengeance, which I always define as a waste of time and energy." Cyrus stated curtly.

"What do memories have to do with vengeance?" Sage was taken aback by the ice dragon.

"You are too stupid to know." Cyrus hummed.

"I didn’t come here to argue, but to ask for your help, Cyrus Dragos," Sage growled through her teeth.

"But here we are," Cyrus tsked as he ran his fingers through his hair.

"You are extremely annoying!" Sage yelled and grumbled. "Painful memories are not useless."

Cyrus’ gaze was fixed on her, and he was clearly enjoying the fact that he was enraging her, resulting in her adorable frown on her lovely face.

"Your painful memories are... Your false father stabbing you, watching your kingdom crumble..."

"Enough! Stop mocking me! Stop taking pleasure in hurting me because I will not hesitate to hurt you!" Sage lashed him with a thunderous yell.

She couldn’t believe it! He was actually mocking her!

Her heart tightened at his every word, as if she were being stabbed repeatedly.

Cyrus’ brows rose in surprise, then lowered in a relaxed manner. "You have a pure heart, arrogant parrot, and I envy you." He said unexpectedly.

"W..what?" She asked, perplexed, and dropped her arms. "You envious of my pure heart?"

"Meet me in the garden if you decide to follow me around. Suffer with your friend until then." Cyrus completely ignored her, turned away, and exited the throne room.

Sage was left with a heavy heart, staring in the direction he had vanished. She let out a deep sigh, hugged herself, and closed her eyes.

She felt completely alone in her desire to reclaim her loving husband.

Cyrus felt like a stranger at that moment. She desired a stranger.

It almost felt like he had forgotten that she was his wife.

"Why did he gave to confess to me? Why?" Sage mumbled as she fought back tears that were prickling her eyes.

"I love you Sage Dragos, I love you more than you will ever know."

"Please do not leave me."

He had told her not to leave him, which meant that he knew his dark state would irritate and hurt her to the point where she would want to run away, but she didn’t want to be strong and leave him.

She averted her gaze, opened her eyes, and fixed her gaze on the throne. "Memories are useless? Vengeance? Is a waste of time and energy? Why do I get the impression that he has been through a lot, mostly in his dark state?" She asked thoughtfully, tilting her head to the side without taking her gaze away from the throne.
