Chapter 156: Where is Cyrus?

The mansion was massive, the roofs covered in snow, and she carefully climbed the stairs while carrying Darren on her back. Arthur kept an eye on her in case she fell, and the warriors surrounded them like escorts.

The hooded female warrior immediately opened the door, and a handsome, innocent, tawny long haired man stood at the railing in the middle of the left and right stairs leading to rooms in the mansion, staring directly at her with a straight expression.

Everyone came to a halt except Sage, who took a few steps forward as her gaze shifted away from him and scanned the area of the mansion she was in.

In comparison to the castle, it felt warmer, and it was simple yet luxuriously decorated with chandeliers on the ceilings.

Sage finally came to a halt and turned to face the man. He didn’t give her the impression of a fire dragon.

Sage narrowed her eyes at him because he wasn’t.

Sage’s method of transporting the halfling irritated Arthur. He was obviously overweight, and she was getting tired. He sighed deeply and approached her.

"Give him to me, my queen; I will take him to a room and make sure he’s well cared for until he wakes up." He told her confidently, and she looked at him, smiled, and nodded.

Arthur snatched Darren from her back and carried him into the mansion, while Sage stretched out her arms, groaning as if a heavy load had been lifted from her shoulders.

"Leave." The strange man said to the warriors, and they all bowed and entered the mansion.

"Where is Cyrus?" Sage inquired right away.

"Queen Sage Dragos." As he began walking down the stairs, he said with a small smile.

"Yes?" Sage clearly wasn’t interested in introductions at the time. "I would like to see Cyrus," she told him.

"There is no reason to rush." The strange man chuckled as he approached her and took a seat in front of her. "He is not going anywhere, believe me."

Sage sighed in frustration. "I really want to see him." She expressed her eagerness.

"As I previously stated, there is no need to rush." The man’s calm tone echoed in her head, and she was enraged.

She clenched her fists, erupting in raging flames of fire. "But I am in a rush!" She growled at him, ready to blast the hell out of him.

"Good day, arrogant parrot." Behind her, a deep soothing voice said.

The fire in her hands vanished as she turned to face Cyrus, who was standing there in his dark state, staring at her blankly.

He didn’t seem pleased to see her, but she couldn’t hide her excitement. She dashed up to him and wrapped her arms around him, burying her face in his chest.

Cyrus twitched his lips. "I am impressed you came to see me." He stated.

"I miss you as well." Cyrus chewed his lower lip as she whispered.

"Please accept my apologies." Sage broke Cyrus’ hug and glared at him furiously as the strange man chuckled.

"Who are you?" She inquired angrily.

"Reagan." With a deep growl, the man walked away.

"You caused a commotion while carrying that repulsive halfling on your back." Cyrus abruptly stated with a deep growl. 𝐟𝕣𝕖𝐞𝐰𝕖𝚋𝐧𝗼𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝗰𝐨𝐦

Sage let out a sigh. "I do not want to argue with you, Cyrus; I just want to rest." She mumbled, slowly rubbing her brow.

"Do you think I won’t kill him?" Cyrus asked, scoffing. "Come." He finished with a deep growl and grabbed her wrist.

She didn’t resist, but instead followed him up the left stairwell and into the hallway.

They arrived in front of a door, which Cyrus immediately opened, and it was a slightly dark room that was simple in appearance and aesthetic.

He slowly let go of her hand and shut the door behind them.

Sage approached the king-size bed, sat on it, and began removing her boots while Cyrus stood in front of her, staring at her.

"Statkus mages attacked you." He spoke calmly.

"How do you know that?" Sage inquired without removing her gaze fixed on removing her boots.

"Your energy is more potent and easily discernible than before. Even a weak creature can now detect your life force." Cyrus replied curtly.

Sage shook her head as she looked at him. "Is there a way to conceal my sense of life force?" She inquired.

"Unfortunately, no, but that doesn’t mean I am going to let them take what is mine." With a deep growl, he said.

Sage scoffed and took off her boots, then stood up and took off her coat, throwing it at Cyrus, who caught it right away.

"Which comes first, me or my life force?" She inquired, crossing her arms across his chest.

"You need rest." Cyrus hissed and moved his gaze away.

Sage’s heart was pounding. His dark state saw her as nothing more than a prey, which both broke and enraged her.

"I haven’t slept well in days; even if you can’t hold me, I need you to sleep next to me." She sighed deeply and whispered to him. "I am not going to beg to you, Cyrus Dragos."

Cyrus clutched her coat tightly before tossing it to the ground. He turned to face her and took off his coat, tossing it to the ground.

"Very well," he hissed as he approached her, wrapping his arm around her waist and drawing her close to him, their bodies pressing against each other.

Sage’s face flushed and her eyes widened as she stared into those emotionless blue slit eyes.

"It is time to sleep." He released her and climbed onto the bed, whispering.

Sage climbed the bed without hesitation, despite her shock, and laid next to him, facing him, before smiling at him. "You are being nice to me." She laughed.

Cyrus hummed while maintaining eye contact with her, then drew the blanket and draped it over their bodies.

Those eyes glinted oddly, almost as if she could see emotions.

She rested her hand on his cheek, her fingers caressing his smooth skin, and she felt relieved that he didn’t push her away or anything.

"What are you doing?" Cyrus inquired calmly.

"Nothing." He suddenly grabbed her wrist as she smiled.

"Do not touch me while I sleep." His face was flushed with rage as he growled.

Sage sighed as he let go of her wrist and turned away.
