Chapter 125: Chapter 125: Being the Other Woman Is the Most Shameless! (Part 1)

Theodore Thorne turned his face on the bed, his gaze falling on Ethan Sterling.

"Seraphina, who is... he?"

"Dad, he’s... he’s a friend of mine." Seraphina Thorne gently comforted her father, "Now, you have a good rest, and I’ll be going back first. I’ll come to see you again another day."

After bidding farewell to her father, Seraphina Thorne turned and walked out of her father’s hospital room, closing the door behind her.

"I’ve already told you, there’s nothing left to discuss between us. Either you sign the divorce agreement, or... I’ll have to proceed through legal channels."

"Seraphina!" Ethan Sterling stepped forward, blocking her path, "I know you have many misunderstandings about me, and I can explain everything to you."

"Seraphina, can we go?"

In the hallway, Ferris Caldwell walked over, keys in hand.

Seeing Ethan Sterling blocking Seraphina’s way, Ferris Caldwell paused.

"Mr. Sterling?!"

Recognizing Ferris Caldwell, Ethan Sterling frowned in displeasure and reached out to grab Seraphina’s wrist.

"Let’s go."

"Ethan!" Seraphina raised her arm, shook off his hand, and stepped back, "I’ve made it very clear to you that I won’t go back with you."

Ethan Sterling stepped forward, Ferris Caldwell strode over, protecting Seraphina before he could grab her.

"Mr. Sterling, you’ve heard Seraphina’s words. You have no right to force her."

Ethan Sterling snorted coldly, "This is a matter between us as a couple, it doesn’t concern you. Get out of the way!"

Ferris Caldwell did not move aside; instead, he spread his arms to protect Seraphina.

"Seraphina is my friend, so this matter does concern me. I won’t let you hurt her again."

"I’ll say it again..." Ethan Sterling squinted his red, bloodshot eyes, "Move aside!"

"I won’t move aside."

"Alright then, let’s see... how long you can keep standing?!"

Ethan Sterling stepped forward, swinging a punch.

"Ethan!"

Seraphina rushed over, grabbing Ethan’s arm to stop him from striking.

This matter was between the two of them and had nothing to do with Ferris Caldwell.

If Ferris Caldwell got hurt because of this, it would be her fault.

Ethan Sterling felt her action and instinctively wanted to retract his hand, but it was too late.

With the force of his movement, Seraphina stumbled, took two steps back, and fell heavily.

"Seraphina!" Ethan’s expression changed quickly, and he rushed over to support her arm, "Are you okay?"

"Seraphina!"

Ferris Caldwell also rushed over, pulling Ethan aside and helping Seraphina up from the ground.

Turning his face, he frowned and glared at Ethan.

"Now I finally understand why she wants a divorce from you. Let’s go."

Helping Seraphina pick up her bag from the ground, Ferris Caldwell guided her into the elevator.

"Seraphina!" Ethan pursued, blocking the elevator doors before they closed, "I’m sorry, I... I really didn’t mean to, are you alright?"

"Ethan, I’m begging you, can you just let me go?" Seraphina raised her head, her pale face full of exhaustion, "I’m tired, I don’t want to see you at all right now!"

Ethan’s hands on the elevator door slowly relaxed.

Standing outside the elevator, he frowned, gazing at Seraphina inside.

His eyes, full of disbelief.

She said...

She doesn’t want to see him at all?!

Seraphina lowered her lashes, forcing herself not to look into those eyes. 𝗳𝗿𝐞𝕖𝘄𝗲𝕓𝗻𝚘𝚟𝕖𝐥.𝚌𝕠𝕞

The elevator doors closed again, isolating the pair into two parallel, different worlds.

Inside the elevator.

Ferris Caldwell concernedly supported Seraphina’s arm, "Are you okay?"

Seraphina gently shook her head, took two steps back to lean against the elevator wall, "I’m sorry, Dr. Caldwell, for causing you trouble."

Ferris Caldwell smiled back at her, "We’re all friends here, no need to be so polite."

After a moment, the elevator reached the first floor.

The two exited the elevator together, and Ferris Caldwell took the initiative to open the car door for her.

"Let’s go, I’ll take you home."

Seraphina sat in the front passenger seat, looking sideways out the window, remaining silent the entire way.

Driving her to the neighborhood she had been renting with Ivy Langley, Ferris Caldwell watched her go upstairs, then drove away.

Neither of them noticed the sea blue Cullinan parked not far away.

In the driver’s seat, Ethan smoked a cigarette, watching the apartment building through the car window.

The lights in the stairway turned on floor by floor, stopping on the third floor.

A moment later, the light in a bedroom on the third floor turned on.

Someone walked onto the balcony, taking away dried clothes. Even though they were separated by a dozen meters, Ethan Sterling immediately recognized it was Seraphina.

Reaching over with his right hand, he picked up the folder on the passenger seat.

Ethan took out his phone, opened the chat with Seraphina, and entered a message.

"Seraphina, I’m sorry, I really didn’t mean to just now. I’ve already found the evidence to overturn your brother’s case, that’s what I wanted to discuss with you."

His finger paused for a moment over the send button, once more flashing before his eyes were Seraphina’s face and what she said in the elevator.

"Ethan, I’m begging you, can you just let me go?"

"I’m tired, I don’t want to see you at all right now!"

...

His finger weakly moved away from the send button, and Ethan threw the phone and folder back onto the passenger seat.

After watching the third-floor bedroom for a while, he frowned and started the car.

The sea blue Cullinan turned around, slowly driving out of Seraphina’s residential area.

Upstairs, in the bedroom.

Seraphina hung the dried clothes into the closet.

Turning around, she walked over to pull the curtains.

Her gaze unintentionally swept downstairs, spotting a sea blue SUV; she instinctively stopped her action.

Was that Ethan’s car?

Before she could take a closer look, the sea blue car had already driven out of the neighborhood.

Seraphina shook her head.

She must have seen it wrong; how could he possibly know she lived here.

Tired, she lay back on the pillow, unconsciously reaching with her fingers to touch her left ring finger.

The wedding ring had been removed for days, but she still wasn’t used to it.

Gazing at her finger, with the faint ring mark, somehow, the past few days flashed before her.

On a stormy night, Ethan had seized the knife from her hands downstairs at Adrian Chamberlain’s place.

During the national competition, he sat at the piano with her, playing together.

In the hillside village by the ski resort, they’d gone to the market together to buy some wild game...

If it weren’t for him, she couldn’t have persisted so easily until now.

During her most forlorn and helpless days, Ethan stood by her.

She owed him far too many favors.

Seraphina raised her fingers to wipe her face.

"Ethan, I’m sorry, please forgive my selfishness, I can’t, I can’t... ignore you being with another woman."
