Marvel : I'm in Westview Town-Chapter 144
Chapter 144 - 144
"These smells are disgusting."
At that moment, the dark witch—Wanda Maximoff—suddenly stepped forward, covering her mouth and nose with one hand as she frowned slightly.
To her, the demons lying in front of them were like festering carcasses, and the stench made her stomach churn.
"Isn't it better now?"
Finn gave a calm smile as another wave of dark aura burst out from his body. In an instant, the putrid stench in the air vanished without a trace.
Still, something tugged at his thoughts. The strength of these monsters wasn't especially terrifying by any means—in fact, they were fairly weak.
And yet... they'd lasted this long against Angel. That part didn't add up.
"It's much better, but will they come over again?"
Wanda's brow remained furrowed with concern. Despite how unimpressive these demons seemed individually, their numbers and tenacity were far from negligible.
If the enemy regrouped and attacked again, the entire Angel bloodline could be jeopardized, dragging even more trouble into this mess.
"It shouldn't happen in the short term."
At that moment, Brice stepped forward slowly, eyes sweeping across the demon remains—the severed limbs, the mangled flesh, and the blood pooling in rivulets beneath their feet.
He understood the mindset of the enemy. Launching a frontal assault was never a favored tactic unless they were desperate—or stupid.
And these devils weren't stupid. Risking another offensive against warriors like Finn would invite annihilation.
After all, even demons feared the wrath of the mystic.
"Then... don't you have a better way to contain each other?"
Stephen Strange stepped forward, speaking slowly as he eyed Brice.
He had gleaned bits and pieces of the long-standing feud between the Angelic Order and the infernal demons from the mouth of the old patriarch. He understood that this wasn't something a single battle could resolve.
"What do you think?"
Brice looked him dead in the eyes and countered with a question of his own.
Just as Stephen had said—if there were better ways, they wouldn't have endured two wars in a single day.
Hearing that, Stephen fell into silence.
He understood. These weren't conflicts born of mere strategy—they were ancient, fundamental.
"Let's go. The demons have been eliminated from this zone. We should report to the patriarch and let him decide what's next."
Brice motioned to the group, then led them back toward the central hall carved into the celestial stone cliffs.
Before long, they arrived.
Inside, the old patriarch and several elder Angels were in a heavy discussion, energy flowing subtly between them like celestial murmurs.
As soon as the group walked in, the old patriarch turned, eyes filled with a blend of curiosity and concern. His gaze immediately fell on Finn and Brice.
"Finn, Brice, you're finally back. What's the situation?"
His voice was slow but carried immense authority. He needed to know whether the demon threat had been fully eradicated.
The strength of the demonic raiding party was significant. If left unchecked, the demons would regroup, bolster their forces, and overrun their defenses. That wasn't a risk the Angelic bloodline could afford.
"Old patriarch, the situation is as follows..."
Brice stepped forward and spoke near the patriarch's ear, relaying every moment of the battle in precise detail.
As he spoke, the old patriarch's expression changed from calm to disbelief, and then to awe.
He turned to Finn with eyes widened—not with fear, but reverence.
"You mean to tell me... Finn, you were really the one who eliminated those demons?!"
The patriarch rose slowly from his stone seat, wings of light lifting him gently into the air as he floated toward Finn and the others, eyes fixed on the human with astonishment.
If they had required Angelic assistance to defeat the demon king, it would have been understandable. But to learn that this young human—and his group—had done it singlehandedly?
That bordered on the impossible.
No divine embellishments. No cosmic rituals.
Just a blade. Just power.
And yet, somehow, they had wiped out an entire legion of demons—and even cleaved the demon king himself into pieces.
Their strength was not just equal to that of the Angels.
No.
It was far beyond.
!!!
He could hardly believe it. A mortal-born man wielding that kind of power?
Could it be that Finn had already reached the peak of mortal ability?
"You could say that."
Finn offered a wry smile, brushing it off. He didn't particularly care for titles or praise. Truthfully, he preferred spending quiet moments with Wanda far more than bathing in glory.
But this situation wasn't something he could ignore.
The mysterious entity—an anomaly that threatened multiple realities—would arrive within a few months. When that time came, he would need the full backing of Kamar-Taj and its defenders.
And if he chose to stand by now, he wouldn't have the right to ask for their help later.
So really, this was just a favor.
"No matter the reason—you've resolved the crisis. On behalf of the entire Angelic race, I offer you our deepest gratitude!"
The old patriarch and all the other Angels behind him bowed in unison, glowing wings lowered in reverence, eyes reflecting sincere respect.
Finn raised his hand to protest, but it was too late. They had already bowed.
He chuckled and waved it off. "You're too polite. We did what had to be done. I just didn't want your problem becoming a multiversal threat." freeweɓnovel.cøm
He meant every word. These weren't just random attacks—this was a fracture, a possible domino in a larger game.
"Old patriarch," Brice chimed in with a rare smile, turning toward the others, "since these guests helped us eliminate the demons, shouldn't we prepare a feast?"
His words surprised Finn.
Brice was the kind of guy whose power was average but whose pride towered over mountains. For him to offer gratitude—and food—was nothing short of astonishing.
"Thank you," Finn replied, watching Brice with a curious look.
He still remembered the arrogant tone Brice had used earlier. But now? Genuine respect.
"That's right! Prepare a feast! Don't make them wait!" the old patriarch commanded, turning to the younger Angels who immediately scrambled to obey.
"Finn, friends—please, follow me."
"Well, hey—free food's free food," Finn said with a grin, gently taking Wanda's hand as they followed after the patriarch.
It might've been a war-torn day, but there were worse ways to end it.
