Master Of None-Chapter 2834. Paths Of Growth
The news of people disobeying orders didn’t go over well. It was even worse, as the leader of the Genesis Council began to hear more small reports of people acting selfishly or directly disobeying safety training. Especially when it came to the researchers and the guards.
The researchers were varied. Some researched magic, others focused on herbs. They were all about gathering information and giving it to the right classes like those that research herbs and then watched as herbalists did the most with what they learned. It was a perfect way to grow.
But it also set a tough precedent.
Some people believed that the researchers were given too much flexibility in what they were doing or could do. Especially in the fact that many of them could request groups of certain class users to help prove or discover certain things. Meaning that they had the ability to order people around.
Because of this, there was a clear cut unhappiness beginning to bloom. All because of the speed that the people and Genesis as a whole were growing. They were growing but not in the best ways of all aspects.
Specifically, they were missing aspects of sociability, emotion, and also just overall common sense. This made some worry that what the immortal chasing race did might be possible for Genesis in the future.
Not that they were wrong to think this. Especially since a few researchers had already been sanctioned for delving in to subjects already against the laws that had been created. There had to be a keen eye watching what was happening with every project right now. Trusted leaders with a good head on their shoulders to prevent the people from straying down a path destined for heartbreak and destruction.
History couldn’t repeat itself.
That was in the worst case scenario though. Right now, it was growing pains. Proof that Genesis needed something more to grow as a people and society. Unfortunately, that was some tough love focusing on the laws and what was right. Mental strengthening to resist the urges to do what would only benefit them was a step that many people would need to take as they developed themselves as people and as a united people.
Walker heard some of the reports sent to the camp since the elemental teleportation formation had worked well and was established to bring people back and forth. It was also why some of those who had failed in the expedition had returned for better healing, reporting back their actions, and also those who had broken the commands from higher ups being returned to be evaluated.
Walker’s group were all very unhappy with the situation they had been placed in. Making them take the reports that Walker got more seriously. If this happened on an expedition like this, what would happen when people were going to the elemental planes more often?
Those places were more delicate because of what was needed in terms of balance. One mistake could cause serious repercussions for an entire people within the elemental planes. It could also halt people from developing more of what they needed in terms of trade and relationships. If that were to happen, it would stain the people of Genesis for years and years.
That was more so the case with the elemental planes because of how seriously they pushed to survive. Valuable good information like trade and assistance would be remembered by generations of some races living within the elemental planes. That was the very same for the opposite. If bad things happened, the repercussions would last for generations as well.
"I think I need to do a little extra scouting before we head back." Gil summed up his thoughts easily while Onyx also looked around and nodded before slithering off toward the more wooded area. The two seemed to accept that they needed a little more time to think about how they would handle the people who looked up to them.
The entire party were role models, they had to lead by example and teach where they could. However, it was not just these aspects that had to be thought about. There was much more than should be considered in terms of what they could do to promote betterment for the people.
The education system being created was already major and branching out to the kingdoms that made up the Genesis alliance. That alone was a huge step toward benefiting everyone. But, was that too slow moving right now?
Su and Remey looked around and decided that they would stay in the camp and work on the reports Walker had been given. It appeared that Remey had seen one about an herbalist and alchemist getting themselves in trouble while making poisons that created a gas causing paralysis. Perfect for battle but not in the place and time they had decided to make it. Rules for experimentation in alchemy and herbalism already had strict rules, Remey enforced them too. But they had failed to follow them.
Su on the other hand, was taking the incident with the guard more seriously. She thought she had taught them perfectly to her best ability. Now she had to face the fact that she might have to grow as a teacher as well. That she had failed somewhere and would need to develop better methods for strengthening the mind to resist urges of selfishness or greed. It would take a whole different addition to her training plans for future guards.
This left Alice, Midnight, and Walker at the camp. But Alice was resting since the stress of using all her mana on a single song to purify such a large area came with significant mental stress. Midnight seemed worried enough not to leave, but she also clearly knew that it would be better to keep working on improving something. Hence how she began training a bit of mana control.
With that being the situation, Walker gave a wave before he focused on a priority he had held off because of the previous incident.
He had to check the underwater exploration and the ships anchored near a larger island.
He had been told everything was developing well so he wasn’t overly worried. That didn’t mean he didn’t need to go and check on things. It would be better if he was just checking anyways. Especially since he didn’t want to worry about any new problems.
Taking a step and using his closer feeling to space mana and enhanced clarity, Walker caught the feeling that he could move better using space overall. It’s a good thing to keep improving toward being able to teleport without a full rune formation. It would make travel much simpler and also better in the event of an emergency.
He also took a few moments above the beach to enjoy the terrain. He didn’t have to fight monsters or explore it. There was a lot of natural beauty in the fact that this land was mostly untouched and undeveloped.
He could see where nesting monsters had existed for many years or where weather had worn down stone to create small waterfalls leading in to the water. He even saw where coral had grown above the stone becoming uniquely suited to the sea spray rather than entirely under the water.
Moments like these were good for the mind and soul, but making sure to focus on what was at hand would never be too far from his mind.
The ships seemed to be a bit rougher than expected. It seemed that a larger group of the staff were forced to maintain the quality of the ships than expected. Mainly because of the barnacle and seaweed growth. The ships seemed to be an ideal location for them to grow, which hadn’t been the case in any waters near where they had been crafted.
Simply put, the warmer waters here were allowing everything to grow much faster. It created this issue but also helped with food. Some of the seaweeds were able to be harvested and edible, a perfect supplement to food without the stress of hunting.
Noticing that a lot of seaweed had been set to dry in the bright sun, Walker could only praise those who built the drying racks and planned ahead. Surprisingly, it many not so surprisingly, it was the chefs who were along to prepare food and search for new ingredients doing this.
It appeared they had a whole host of new food items they had prepared and discovered. The guards underwater had been more than happy to hunt and explore the waters to share what they found too. Even going to far to share with the tamers looking for new monsters as feed for their tamed monster or to tame as well.
From what Walker could see, this area could become a floating village if an underwater and above water one were not created on this empty island sooner than later.
